By Jared Villani SteelerNation.com The Pittsburgh Steelers have reaped the benefits of possessing one of the league’s top offenses in each of the last several seasons. After the loss of Antonio Brown, things obviously look different on paper, but the transition may be a lot smoother than imagined with their talent-filled receiving corps. Newcomer Donte […]

It really remains the big mystery. If he can't thrive with Big Ben he will never thrive anywhere. Fortunately the Steelers do not have to put all their eggs in one basket. DM has to be a effective piece to the puzzle. Enough to keep the chains moving. That's it.

It seems everyone forgets Washington. In his 2nd year, came on by season end last year and came into mini camp leaner and in far better shape. He could easily be our 2nd highest producer but everyone forgets him.

It is because his rookie season was largely forgettable. As he struggled to separate and with route recognition. As he improved toward the latter part of the season he still comes with question marks. As how much is he really improved? So it isn't that he is forgotten, fans and the Steelers need to see more of him to see where he is at.

Washington's growth and Moncrief being with a premier QB again certainly make this bunch intriguing.

Many WR's struggle the first year but he (Washington) did show signs near the end of the season. that is sufficient for me to be excited. I will also add that he and Ben should be working more together now that Sizzle **** is gone. Finding a rhythm and rapport with Ben should help him immensely. The report card is still out on him, but there is suficient reason to think he can make the next step. We will know by the end of camp I would think.

Moncreif appeared to be doing fine with Luck as his QB. His numbers dropped when Luck got hurt (and Moncrief as well) and then he played a year with Bortles. My gut tells me that with Ben tossing him the rock that he will go back to better performances. He is one that I am very interested in seeing this year.

Thanks for the article.

I just read today he is 25 yrs old. Pretty good results for his age, IMO. It will be interesting to watch play out.

wow, no kiddin'? feel like he's been in the league for damn near a decade now. well that's pretty sweet, then.

i expect him to really showcase his skills out there this fall.

I was very high on this guy for his draft class and wanted him in round two. My thoughts were with his size and speed, combined with SEC pedigree; Ben could transform him into a very good player. Ben makes his receivers, not the other way around

We'll see how Moncrief pans out on the Steelers.

I'd bet Moncreif is pretty excited TOO ! He knows her's got a QB that can get him the ball but he also knows a cancer has left the team thus a void for him to step in and fill. He'll have instant notoriety amongs the fans and that adds to confidence, hopefully. I'm excited for the WR camp and team.

Salute the nation

Moncrief will be our best FA pickup since Yancy Thigpen.

On offense or including defense?

I'd be inclined to add James Farrior and Justin Hartwig to that conversation. A guy named Haden, even though he's been here for a short time might also want a piece of the action.

In a perfect world Washington and Moncrief would be able to hold down both outside positions and Juju could be moved around so it is harder to bracket him.

Really feel we have a deep deep pool of receivers going into this season

Ju Ju well is just the man

Moncrief could and should be outstanding now he’s playing with a top QB in Ben

Washington has by all accounts worked hard on his build, fitness coming into this season and you’d fully expect him to take that step to the next level

The Rookie Dionte Johnson has been posting impressive videos of his training. He got some excellent mentions from team mates at the mini camp and although early on in the process looks to be of good potential.

And you’ve still got switz and rodgers who are more than reliable.

In my opinion the wide receiving core which may well have been a worry when AB decided to go, could actually be the strongest part of the roster, with Moncrief playing a huge huge roll in this.

On the D side Greene would definitely be in the running for the best pickup. With Farrior,, Ryan Clark, Von Oelhoffen, and Ryan Clark mentionables. Ray Seals and Dewayne Washington had their moments.

On O Hartings and John L for a short time, but he had some huge hands and could catch with them.:smile-new:
