Listening to 93.7 The Fan this morning, William Laird Cowher was asked about his opinion on the current Steeler situation and namely the Antonio Brown drama and Bill said something that resonated loud and clear to me that no one else has said. "Don't let winning mask an issue". And thats exactly where a lot of our issues stem, from Art II and Tomlin who were blinded by winning games during the regular season, and ignoring the issues with Browns antics over the course of the last few seasons. I think the organization lost focus and got away from their model and standard since we were winning games but swept issues under the rug, but now its rearing it's ugly head at the team threatening to rip it apart.

Very true, but these issues were allowed by Tomlin. I can't blame Tomlin for AB speeding or throwing furniture, but letting AB stay off campus during training camp, letting him come in late for pretty much everything from the sounds of it, and missing meetings. I think Tomlin pussied out and didn't know how to deal with it, so he just went with it. Should've started fining the dude as soon as he started this ****
Also what have we won? We went 8-8 the first two years AB had his money, we've won 3 playoff games since 2010.

Tomlin is the root of all of this and to Cowher's comments. Sure, AB has become a diva and a tool but Tomlin facilitated it by allowing him to do what he wanted over the past few years. Tomlin is the one being masked by winning.

Definitely Cool Shades is the biggest "masked" winner of both the winning, which has happened in spite of some of his BONEHEADED coaching moves and the "ROONEY" rule as the team owners are tied to it.

Yes all parties are accountable but the single biggest winner is Coach Tomlin.

Salute the nation

The more I hear about all this, the more I believe what is REALLY behind Brown being all pissy with the Steelers is the fact that he's been allowed to get away with **** pretty much for years and suddenly, when he showed up for the Bengals game after throwing his tantrum, Tomlin was all of a sudden "hardass Bob" and said "No, you aren't going to play!" and Brown, bewildered at this sudden change in policy simply looked at what he feels is unfair treatment of Ben etc.

Course he isn't quite looking at it from the point of view that HE had preferential treatment for years. Suddenly (from his p.o.v.) JuJu wins MVP and Brown suddenly aint getting the free ride which he immediately sees as gross disrespect.

There's a reason you treat EVERY player with respect, dignity and essentially in the same manner. As soon as a fellow gets it into his head that he's "better than everyone else" he starts becoming a problem to the cohesion of the group.

Antonio very likely considers himself "better than" the vast majority of players on the team, much less the league. I doubt he can bear the idea that he not be recognized, verbally and through actions that he's one of the top 2 guys in Pittsburgh.

And yes, this ALL falls on coaching that has allowed some players to be treated better than others.

And Tomlin has not done Brown any favors whatsoever if and when he gets traded because he's going to expect the same preferential treatment regardless of where he goes.

If Tomlin is going to stay, I hope Rooney has had a talk with him. No more of this bullshit being allowed in the locker room. Ben ends his radio show and everyone must show up for everything unless they are specifically excused.

There are going to be some huge contracts given out this year to WRs Julio Jones, etc. Youn think AB is going to be happy here or wherever he goes when this contracts are signed ? I think Rooney is weak and may just think we can keep AB and keep him in line, good luck with that with a weak head coach and a team that still doesn't fully grasp what a cancer he is.

Says the coach that was 1-4 at home, in conference championships...

Is that the same coach who beat Hoodie in the playoffs?

Cowher struck gold here. I actually used his words in a business meeting to discuss some of the some of our under preforming partners.

As big as a problem Tomlin is, I think Art Rooney II might actually the real problem because he's the one with he power to act.

Who got to the majority of those home afccg's with o'donnell and corky at qb. Yeah, that sonuvagun

Yeah who had a franchise QB for 3 seasons. He made more AFCCG without a franchise QB than Tomlin has with a franchise QB

I love how revisionist some of us are.

He was the #1 seed 3 times and the #2 seed twice. Favored in all 5 games. Doesn't matter who your QB is, just ******* win one. That's why fans were mad at Bill and wanted him fired back in the day. And the 1 home game they did win, they lucked out on a hail mary hitting the ground after landing on a dudes stomach. Then got wrecked in the SB. So yea, we were a bit miffed back then when the 'chin' kept taking it on the chin...

With Neil Odonnell and Kordell freaking Stewart! So you must hate Tomlin then, 12 seasons with a franchise QB, and he's been to 3 AFCCG'S, Cowher made 4 with Neil and Kordell.

Would love to have the opportunity to bash Tomlin for losing AFC Championship games as a favorite. Simply doesn't get there enough.
