Dominique Easley released by Pats

I think with his price tag he might clear waivers.... then it will be interesting who kicks his tires..........

One thing the Pats and Belichick are good at is not sending good money after bad.

They don't worry about ego protection; if you ain't cuttin' it, you're gone. The Steelers need to improve in this area.

We still have Javis and Landry Jones on the roster for cripes sake.

In 2 seasons, this guy - who was primarily to be used to produce sacks - has only 3. Sounds like JJ. This guy is a bust.

Hurt in college, hurt his rookie season and hurt again last year. Cutting him now costs them almost twice as much against the cap next year than it would if they kept him unless he is claimed off waivers. Even hurt, some considered him a top 15 defensive tackle so if he could stay healthy he could help someone.

I hope he clears waivers and whoever picks him up has the patsies on their schedule and he just clobbers brady a few times.

his salary is guaranteed, they aren't saving jackshit waving him, so how does that fit with your point of view?

costs them $3.9 million vs $1.6 million if they kept him. Unless the hit would be a lot worse next season, not sure why they cut him now unless there is more information not released

unless the guy has a red flag it makes no sense at all. Better keep him and see if he can play decently as the money is guaranteed

He's a 3-technique that I never understood the fit in New England. I thought maybe Belichick was going to fatten him up to be more of a nose tackle but on his repaired knees that's stupid.

He should get down to 290-295 to protect his legs and go back to shooting gaps for a 4-3 team that likes to rush the QB. He could find a roll that way, especially as a rotation or sub package lineman.

Never ever sign another *'s player. Ever.

The CHEATRIOTS are good at a lot of things, this just happens to be one that is leagal, thus the news headline...............

Salute the nation

It's a good thing the Pats don't have a first rounder this year. They've been blowing their first round pick for years...

Agreed, but for some reason Belicheat**** is regarded as a draft day guru. I do like his trades he does when he picks up extra draft picks when he trades back. Always seems to find a team to do it. In the end though his high picks seem to have a high bust rate.

Vet minimum with a lot of bonus options if he stays healthy and plays. That would be the only way you entertain bringing on a guy like him.

If the cheatriots cut him he is probably garbage.

Just like Ozzie smith, who hasn't done crap in the draft in since 2008. One pick worth a damn since 2008. If he was the GM here, he'd be ridden out on a rail by now.

Easley is a Muslim, Trump and Kraft are friends...............hence he was cut.

P*ts fans are livid and confused

With this situation, regardless of the 'why', Easley becomes the first true "Bust" taken in the first round during the BB era.

Speaking of which could they have designated him as a post-6/1 cap hit (which, IIRC, means carrying the full hit until then?).

this is what happens when you draft guys with injury histories....sometimes it works, a la Gronkowski, but more often than not, it falls flat on its face - Easley, Dowling, etc....Pats always looking in the discount draft bins at bldg 19 - atta boy Krafty Bob!

but wait, there's more...

What I find interesting is that Easley is cut, everyone is bewildered as to why, then Suddenly these reports about him seeking alternative treatment, possible dog fighting, and locker room cancer appear. Yet no one had heard any of these things prior to him being cut. You can only ASSUme that the same people who kept all these issues quiet (the Patriots) are the same people now spreading these rumors. Which would make you think that the Pat's were OK with these things when they were hoping he could play.

Easley was a bad pick, and BB just shipped one of his best picks off for a late second round pick and a bigger bust than Easley. The Pat's are in trouble, first round picks are so valuable not only for the talent that they bring, but the fact that you can control them at a reasonable price for five years. So effectively the Pat's are without a first round pick for both 2016 and 2014, this will have a serious negative effect on the Pat's was Brady finishes up his career.

Damn idiot Easley. The moron probably was released because he eventually is headed to jail for whatever. Pisses me off as a fan and disgusts me as a person.

I dunno, the Wizard could keep doing backflips late in his career and was always considered to be a favorite of the fans.

;)

That's hilarious. I can't believe I said Smith instead of Newsome! At least I didn't say Osborne...
