Dolphins fire HC Philbin

Anybody would, save for Belechick and he might sink as well, similar to Cleveland prior to stumbling on to Tom Brady at New England.

Papillon

I'm looking forward to see what kind of genius Belechick is without Brady. I suspect he won't be coaching much longer after Brady retires.

The better question is-

If we can somehow get our offense going with Vick- is Haley a top candidate for the Miami gig?

My feeling is that unless he wants to go for big money, Toddster tried the head coaching gig once and has had his fill of it. Plus no one seems to stay long in Miami, it seems to be a coaching graveyard. Upside, Mrs. Haley could model beachwear more frequently. Toddster has a stable and pretty much lifetime job here with a very good offense.

Not many QB's can play at NFL speed while listening to the OC in their earpiece.

I dont know, man. He is only 48. Thats really young by coaching standards- so I definitely see him giving the HC gig another shot.

Wasn't his wife already accused of sending out nude pics? She probably is \chomping at the bit about all of the Cubans that she and Todd go 'swing' with :crushed:

I agree with you though... Miami is definitely a graveyard for coaches.

I'm honestly surprised he survived the locker room bullying scandal of a couple years ago, as it exposed him as a poor leader who allowed a high school locker room-like atmosphere to run rampant.

I'm still stunned he wasn't fired for that. Instead, they make the trainer their fall guy. What a joke that was!

The Dolphins new coach reminds me of a young Bill Cowher. Should be interesting to see how it works out.

Dolphins new HC!

Whoa! You mean to tell me they didn't institute the "Rooney Rule" and interview a "minority" before hiring thier "interim " coach!

Oh my!

Like normal you have no idea what you're talking about.. if hired from within you don't have to institute the Rooney Rule.

NO, billicheat would fall like the rest. How much of his genious is cheating??? The dolphins don't have the headset reputation of a billicheat team, it'd take billy boy a few years to emerge as a geniuos...........again (only if ernie went with him).

Salute the nation

http://news.yahoo.com/dolphins-ryan-tannehill-reportedly-told-175401570.html

"On Saturday during practice, Tannehill, after a couple of practice squad players forced turnovers, Tannehill made negative comments toward them, including saying: “Enjoy your practice squad paycheck, enjoy your practice squad trophy.”
Sources say this has been going on for the past few weeks as the practice squad players have been intercepting Tannehill and frustrating the former Texas A&M wide receiver turned quarterback. ...
Philbin told the practice squad players to take it easy on Tannehill to not affect the young quarterback’s confidence."

Take it easy? No wonder Philbin was canned and Tannehill has regressed with that attitude. Sounds like the big payday went to Tannehill's head.

If this is true I cant help but to lmfao.

Hey uh, Tannehill??? Do you actually think you're good or something?? You can.....

.....GTFOH!!!

I sometimes watch the Sunday games with my college roommate and he's a die-hard Dolphins fan.

Yesterday I caught up with him during the later games, and he was just so 'broken' from putting up with the Dolphins ineptitude that I felt bad for him.
He was rooting for a complete blowout yesterday when it looked like the team just had quit on Philbin just so Philbin would be fired, and worried that chance was blown when they started scoring late in the game.

I'm sure he's relieved now.

It sucks to see a team give up and just go through the motions. Kinda makes me wonder how much players in the league are proud of the team they play for

Really ? That may be the stupidest thing ever said. Seems like the Steelers were going to hire either Whiz or Grimm, both in house employees , but had to interview Rivera and our used car salesman to abide by the ROONEY Rule.

I think this rule only applies for intern positions.

I expect the same. It will be much like when Elway retired. All of a sudden Denver started getting called for chop blocking and holding.

Say what you want- but no one has ever accused Tomlin for being a weak leader. Not saying he would have won games in Miami (because I think theyre a bad team), but I doubt that they would be quitting on him in game 4.

They already have a solid defense- they just need another offensive minded guy to move that pathetic O along.

He's terrible in critical game time decisions, has bad clock management skills, is a little tardy to promote younger more talented players, and lacks adjustments.

Too often his teams plays lose to inferior opposition that are .500 or below.

Tomlin by his own admission is a gambler, often going against the odds. That cost us a game recently.

Is he a bad leader? No way, but he's not a good coach. I'll stand by he's lucky to have Ben as his QB and Rooney as the owner. The team has more talent that our record reflects.
