Fantasy Football is like crack to me, so I quit it years ago.. but this year the local bar needed one more so I jumped in...

It was a live Auction league... and way more fun than it should have been....

Im posting my thoughts here simply cause after the season I want to see how I ****** up so badly🤣

The league was standard PPR. 1QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D

There are 5 bench spots and 2 IR spots for guys actually on IR.

So I bid the bulk of my allotted money on Bijan Robinson, figuring the stud RB was the guy to build around, After that my RBs are unspectacular, JKDobbins and that Treveon Henderson kid from NE.

I spent a bit acquiring J Burrows as my starting QB, assuming he has his Typical rebound year after an injury season.. in case he doesnt, I spent a bench spot on Dart from NY, figuring Harbaugh tends to get better fantasy seasons out of QBs than winning seasons, lol..

I gambled a bit on WR, hoping to make it a strength I can deal for a better RB later in the season from
I targeted guys I felt could be top ten wrs if everything broke right.
I spent well getting Malik Nabors as my anchor. I am betting he has a full recovery from his injury and goes back to being a top 5 wr
I got Tetairoa Mcmillian later and fairly cheap for a top 20/15 ish WR
I grabbed Garret Wilson as a Flex type. Wilson had one season with a legit QB ( old man Rodgers) abd wasxa too 10 fantasy wr.. Geno Smith should get him there again..
on the bench I grabbed Emeka Egbuka, who was a to 24 fantasy guy last year and should be better with more targets this season.. he was devalued because of a minor injury in camp.
With my last bid, I grabbed Coolies favorite Tank Dell for 1 dollar.. figured Id put him on IR and used that spot to claim Jacobi Lane off waivers..

At TE I got Tyler Warren from the colts, and in case his injury is worse than expected, grabbed Pat Friermuth as a low cost backup

My Kicker is Meyers from Seattle... you know, good but not great offense playing in a dome...
My defense the Broncos.

The strategy is simple, hope 4 of the wrs are top 15 material and trade one with one of the lesser RBs for a RB upgrade.
ideally Jacobi lane starts really hot and maybe i can package him with another top WR to get a really good RB backup then have tank dell come off IR to take his spot

What most likely happens:
Robinson gets hit by the team bus heading to game 1 and is out for the season,
Nabors never totally makes it back from his injury, Ebukas toe injury and Warren's groin are lingering problems..
Burrow gets injured again
Dart suck cause Harbaugh screwed up the transition.
Dobbins gets hurt or benched or both
jacobi lane is nothing but a camp mirage
Tank Dell never gets off the IR
And I remember why playing this game sucks

The day I quit Fantasy football was the day I cheered for my fantasy running back scoring a touchdown against the Steelers in a close fantasy matchup. My wife looked at me with utter disappointment as I slowly realized what I was doing. It's been so long ago, but I believe he was a Raven's RB too, or at least in the division. Never played again.

Its a blight to the sport in many ways... the first time I quit it was cause i was running a dozen teams in several formats and the time spent was incredibly absurd for a hobby.. a huge fight at work over a transaction that got blocked was the tipping point..

My second hiatus came after 5 of my top six picks were out for the season by week 2 or 3... I ultimately made the playoff and lost in the CG iirc... I had one guy still active that I drafted, and i thought it was more aggravation than fun by then... i spend enough time scouring the web for Steelers news, i dont need to be trying to figure out whats going on with the other 31 teams rosters too...
