Does Connor plus Samuels = Bell?

Apparently we've got a couple studs at running back.

That said, any chance Tomlin doesn't start Bell... being that he's not going to be part of the teams future?

What would be the ramifications if that happened?

Paying 14mil to the leagues best RB to sit on the bench. Or, just run him til the wheels fall off. He's going to be doing everything he can to make teams offer him the money he wants. You let him prove it, shake hands, and wish him luck as he walks out the door. Hopefully he's wearing a shiny new ring and we have 14mil+ in cap space added.

If we can play them at RB at the same time they equal Bell. That would be akin to the 4-4-4 defense.

^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^ I run that ****** into the biggest contract the nfl has ever seen and put another team in cap hell, or I run him till he is so beat up he would be lucky to average a yard a carry at the end of the year and noone would wan to pay more than vet minimun. Bell don't give two ***** about this team or the fans why should we give two ***** about him. Runj him till he can't walk.

Niether or both are nowhere as goid as bell but we can win with them. I still say when bell signs his contract trade him for the highest draft pick offered or a draft oick and a starting caliber ilb

Mack for BELL all day every day and especially SUNDAYs

Just to add to this, run him until someone else Is more productive as we are still in it to win it. I hear what you are saying on running his *** into the ground but at some point you have to run the RB who gives way the most production. I want BELL gone as much as the next but to continue running him to no production is counter productive to team wins. I understand what you are saying and realize it's saying but there is also the real align of things too. I could care less weather he gets a big contract or less as long as we continue with the "Ws" in our corner regardless of who is playing.

Really? Wow. That is a lot of spite and anger at the guy for no valid reason. And, no, "loyalty to team and fans" isn't a valid reason; that is just fan puckering up at the thought a player might not see the Steelers as the end all be all destination in his career. The man believes he can earn more money; good for him - I truly hope he gets every penny (just somewhere else). Seems to me that if he plays out the season that he fullfills the terms of his agreement with the Steelers and NFL. Do you really think the fans won't scream to cut his *** or call for him to retire when his production does fall? You think the Steelers won't? No, the man gets it - get the money while you can because if you blink, it will be gone. As stated above, I hope they hoist a trophy and then part ways as good friends should.

BTW - the production fall off on RB's after 27 or 28 is pretty darn sobering. Sure, he is going to have a couple more good years, but I'll bet you a bag of oreo cookies and a glass of half drunk milk that he is just about his peak this year and maybe next. After that, his production starts to drop.

It won’t happen, but IF it could, I’d trade Bell for Mack straight up. Mack has more good years left, we need Mack more than we do Bell, Bell is walking regardless at the end of the year, and no matter if it’s Conner or Samuels or both, they’ll have space because they can’t stack the box with Ben going to AB, JuJu, Washington, etc. Too much to account for. I’d love to get something for him instead of him just walking for nothing at the end of the year.
But Bell will be here. And I say ease Bell back into action. Let Conner and Samuels handle the Clowns....even the Chiefs, Bucs, and Rats. THEN run the sun out of Bell. Give him 500 carries. What difference does it make and he’ll run like a monster do he can get his 84 million/year he wants.

I doubt they equal Bell, but neither did the RBs for the Eagles and Patriots last year. I would have dropped the tag on Bell and used the money on defense.

And I meant run him til the wheels fall off in a non-disparaging way. Just he's our best chance of winning at the RB position this year and you know with what he has at stake, he won't be sandbagging it. Give him the opportunity to go make himself richer. And yeah, these last few 400 touch seasons will have taken their toll. That's just the truth of the matter.

precisely. The team should use him however they need to for a run at the SB this year. No bad intent...just have him do what he is getting 14M to do this year. If that is 400 carries, then it is 400 carries. If it is 200 carries to keep him healthy for the playoffs, then its 200 carries to keep him healthy for the playoffs. The only thing that should matter at this point is how to win each game.

With it being Bell’s last year with no compensation for him, I would run the **** out of him. Then run him some more. I would get my moneys worth out of him.

If we leap out to a 30 point lead in a regular season game, do you want to leave him in during garbage time just to get your "money's worth" or would you rather pull him and keep him as fresh as possible for the playoffs? I, for one, would rather have him healthy in the playoffs which gives us the best chance to hoist another Lombardy than just run the wheels off him just for the hell of it. There is more to "money's worth" than just number of carries.

Ummm......Us fans have been saying this for years. You should ask Tomlin. He is the one that keeps him in there.

The point of my post was directed at those who say the Steelers should run the **** out of Bell before he leaves. The goal is to win a Championship, not artificially elevate his pitch count so to speak.

Gruden likes Bell so much we could likely get Mack plus their 1st round pick.

Closer to Jonathan Dwyer and baron batch. Than they are to leveon bell.

Yes, if you consider the money and cap hit over the next 3-5.

No, if you just look at skill.

I like thinking about stuff like this because I would rather have Bell but the price will make the team worse overall.
