Does Bus make the Hall this year?

The Bus's possible election to the HOF is the big ticket item for me this Super Bowl weekend. Even bigger than the game itself to me. Hope he gets in. They will announce the new class later this evening....think I'll wear his jersey today for luck and inspiration. Get on the Bus!!!!

The BUS should get the nod, just because........................ You can't base a HOF career on playoff numbers. they are a contributing factor, but the regular season is also a contributing factor. The bus, undoubtidly is the BEST big back ever. PLUS one more factor, he was a STEELERS player, to boot.

I'm not saying Kurt Warner doesn't deserve to be in, just that Bettis is more deserving. It degenerated to the Hall of Pretty Good a while ago so I don't doubt that Warner will get in at some point.

BTW, Jim Plunkett is the only eligible multiple SB-winning QB not in the HOF. Should Warner get in before Plunkett? Just asking.

Amazing how many football "experts" don't know that tidbit. I use it ocasionaly as my ace in the hole, when talking football. thanks for bringing that FACT up. :)

Warner and Bettis should both get in. Warner had a SB stolen from him by the cheating pats** and Bettis probably had 2 SB appearances stolen from him by the same cheaters. There is no reason they shouldn't both get in.

Terry Bradshaw says hello

Terry had years in his prime where he was second string? Where his regular season numbers were VASTLY lower than his contemporaries? I ask this tongue in cheek (kinda) because you are presenting an apples to guava fruit argument.

Wait... what prime years was Bettis second string? A typical rb is in his prime from 25 to 28... its short and sweet for them. Few RBs make an impact past 29

Bradshaw does not make the Hall if it was based on his regular season stats. He had some absolutely horrible years, He also lost his starting job at various times in his career to my namesake and to Joe Gilliam. His stats in 70,71, 72,73, 74 and 76 were horrible and vastly inferior to his contemporaries with QB ratings of 30.4, 59.7,64.1,54.5,55.2 and 65.4 throwing a combined 58 TDs and a whopping 90 INTs, so yes for 6 of his 13 full seasons he was well below average.

Good stats ... here's another ... Since you are basing HOF worthiness on playoffs and Super Bowls ... Terry's 4 Super Bowls in his prime trump Warner's 2. His record of 4-0 in Super Bowls trumps Warners record of 2-1. Also, if I'm not mistaken Bradshaw split time with Hanratty as a rookie. The only time he "lost" his starting position was to Gilliam in '74 and he won the job back during the season.
Look, I'm not saying Warner doesn't deserve to get in. I loved the guy's story and his performance when given a chance can't be overlooked. But, I don't feel that he's more deserving to enter the HOF than Bettis. JMO

Edit: Also, the more apt discussion is happening in another thread. Since I don't believe it comes down to either Warner or Bettis, but rather either Bettis or Davis.

Agree. I think if it comes down between Bettis and Davis, Davis gets in because he's not the Steeler and once played a game with a migraine.

Next stop: Canton for the Bus! A big congratulations to Bettis! He is in.

Woo-hoo! Congrats Mr. Bettis, you damn sure earned it!

The wheels on the bus go round and round round and round.............. Next stop Canton!!!!!!

Big congrats to The Bus!! Well deserved.

Not a Ray Ray fan but some of his comments earlier about the Bus were awesome.

Well deserved and earned. Had he been with a better QB he would have won multiple SB. Always felt he got worn down by the brutal style and never really had his best when it counted the most. I put him and Hines on a similar level. Great players and team leaders. Congratulations Jerome!!!!

Congrats Bussie!!!
Will Urlacher ask Bus to his presenter when he gets in since that's his most famous play?

Congrats Bus!

Interesting that most analysts had Warner and Pace as first ballot locks and they both didn't make it.
