Do the coaches watch game film and study tendencies?

Other injuries, Switzer in concussion protocol and Chickillo has an ankle

“There was going to be some smoke-and-mirror play, if you will, and it was”, Tomlin said of his efforts to compensate, which featured a lot of L.J. Fort and other linebackers in coverage. “But when you’re playing a guy like Philip Rivers, who has bigtime autonomy at the line of scrimmage, sometimes you run out of smoke”.

What a cop out. Yes, you have to use smoke and mirrors at times. All teams do. But you don't let their #1 guy beat you because you can't figure out how to not let a LB cover him. Man him the **** up with a CB, a DB or a ******* safety. But you do not cover a #1 WR with a ******* LB. How many times has AB been covered by a ******* LB? None times? Because I can promise you none times was in the game plan. If he were covered by one it was a mistake NOT apart of the game plan. Dumb ***.

From his press conference regarding Washington getting a hat this week due to Hunter's injury...

''Sometimes you get knocked down,'' Tomlin said. ''You've got to get in the lab and work. A lot of times that's done in obscurity. ...

Going to the lab and working in obscurity... Yep, that's the defensive strategy in a nutshell.

Obscurity
noun, plural ob·scu·ri·ties.

1) the state or quality of being obscure.

2) the condition of being unknown:
He lived in obscurity for years before winning acclaim.

3) uncertainty of meaning or expression; ambiguity.

Ding Ding Ding... We have a winner.

And just to point out the root...

obscure
[uhb-skyoor]

adjective, ob·scur·er, ob·scur·est.
1) (of meaning) not clear or plain; ambiguous, vague, or uncertain:
an obscure sentence in the contract.

2) not clear to the understanding; hard to perceive:
obscure motivations.

3) (of language, style, a speaker, etc.) not expressing the meaning clearly or plainly.

# 3 is my personal favorite.

Zone coverage is dependent on quick read and react abilities and absolutely required playmakers at safety and linebacker... we are a ****** zone team...

Who in the hell knows. Looked to me like we did the same thing we did every single game but Rivers was smart enough to take the short passes underneath and torch our LB's. Maybe the smoke was going back to 2DL in the second half...that will shock them, nobody has ever seen us do that before. SMH

Have we not been preparing to play more man coverage to better handle NE, and this game would have been a good time to do the same? Are we no better equipped to do press man than we used to be? Isn’t that Burns skill set, too? I guess I asking if we are doing this more now or if it was attempted last Sunday.

I would rather not hear an answer at all than that pathetic excuse Tomlin said. Seriously, this guy doesn't and won't ever get the best out of their players. An underachiever coachthat gets by the talent of his pro bowlers

I can’t stand the response of execution being the result of atrocious defense. If a player or players are not capable of executing something time after time, it’s time to adapt to something they actually can execute or try another player that can execute. Execution is not a reason, adjust to the players capabilities, that’s what good coaches do.

A good coach gets the best out of the players he has, and taylors the scheme to their skills, not the other way around

I hear Urban Meyer is available

Maybe he isn't that well read cause that don't make no sense at all.

I heard that **** too. More ridiculous crap coming from a totally clueless coach that continues to steer this team in the wrong direction. But hay, he wins during the regular season.

Given a tie is not a loss, to date HCMT has won seven games. The Steelers will be traveling to play the Raiders and Saints and play the Cheats and Bengals at home.
Tossing optimism aside and using the reality of the last two debacles, accept the NO and NE games as losses. The Raiders or the Bengals COULD easily be trap games again based on the stacked odds, "flukes", abysmal 2nd half defensive efforts and of course the stench of officiating from the Broncs 'n Bolts games. A loss of just one of these games HCMT will finish his regular schedule with an impressive 8-7-1 record.
My my ain't that a feather in his cap?

Tomlin says he's not changing anything and refuses to acknowledge theres anything wrong with anything Steelers are doing in preparation

Fun facts, Ben has NEVER won against the Raiders at home, including last 3 games, against a 2-14 and two 4-12 teams

Pretty sad.

Yet the Steelers are once again double-digit favorites this week, even though the Raiders kept it close against the mighty Chiefs last Sunday.

If I had enough balls, I'd bet my car on the Raiders +11. They have a good pass-catching tight end in Jared Cook, and Carr excels in the short passing game, which eats this defense alive. I just can't see the Steelers winning by more than 10 points.

We study film and come up with a game plan, and make you beat us. And we stick to it and make you beat us again, and again, and again, and again..
