DK Standing around, when the protection breaks down?

Last night was particularly focused on DK in pass plays. Why? Well because somehow I needed DK to success to win my fantasy playoff game. How did I let it come down to DK to win? That is a whole other thread, but back to the topic. I was focused on DK when A-Rod started moving outside of the pocket, and maybe I am off here, but it seems that when the protection breaks down, and Rodgers has to scramble, Mr. DK is standing still on the field. Like, DK moves to his spot in the zone and then slows to a stop and doesn't scramble to an open spot.

Has anyone else noticed this or am I off my 'old man' rocker?
 
Only watched DK on a scramble once last night

He kept active on the play, opened up for Rodgers and made that particular play happen with a catch

George was crucified for his lack of effort... but at least he caught more than he dropped.

DK had an amazing "strong TD" last night but methinks he's still not a dominant WR1.

I'll have to pay attention to his blocking moving forward...

He will improve as the other receivers step up. When a team has too many weapons to defend against, guys like DK shine.

He will have to improve tremendously of that always 'being active' either scrambling or blocking as he is in a multi-year deal and more than likely we will have a younger scrambling QB in the years to come.
 
Pickens simply put is a pinhead! Million dollar talent with 10 cent brain.
DK very high end #2 but low end #1. Way overpaid for this guy!
My thoughts, they need to draft their #1 in 2026 draft.
Then the question is, who will be throwing to them??????
Cousins, Murray, Richardson? Who is the next retread QB? We’re already on #6 now with Rodgers since Ben retired.
Not expecting Rodgers to come back.

Agreed
I don't trust Kahn to pick a winner.
No coincidence the best players we have on offense are castoffs or UDFA.
Miami drafted Achane in the same exact spot we took Roman Wilson.
That alone should get everyone fired.

No point taking a Q. After the Tominship is won in two weeks they are guaranteed a draft spot 17- lower. Might as well take a great smooth polished route runner and hope you hit a highly underrated talent in Will Howard.

I was rather shocked at that TD from considering I've seen him go down rather easily from much smaller men.

It was refreshing and what I was expecting from him all of the time.
 
Bottom line. DK is as advertised. About 1k and 7-10 tds. Pair him with a cheap #1-2 kid out of college and you might have something to throw to. Look like it or not stuck with Tomlin through 2026 probably 2027. Gotta hope for the best. But for God sake no #20 overall QB. And no re-tread either. Will Howard startes and Rudy backs up. You arent finding a better QB in this class at 1.20 or lower.

They really should let go of Rudy…. He really isn’t a high end backup..

Great point @steelhurt !

I really believe Will Howard is the type of QB Pittsburgh needs. Unless proven otherwise, I believe that Howard is the talent we should invest in, meaning give him the reps he needs. Please, please, please don't go after a retread!

If the strategy is “Hope you hit” on a sixth round QB **** the Steelers, **** Khan, and **** everyone with a voice in the draft room.

Pinning the hopes of a much needed Tomlinship on a 6th rounder who hasn’t played a single NFL down (not even preseason) is crazy talk.

The good news is that after Aaron slips by with a WC victory he will quickly decide (say mid Aug) that he is returning for another go at it as Tomlin sits in the glow of a newly inked 3 year extension on top of his remaining year(s).
 
I think Aaron Rodgers retires and Tomlin will push hard for another veteran retread QB.
I’m thinking Cousins, Murray or even Richardson.
I just think Tomlin is terrified to go with a young, unproven QB.

God help us. I'm not saying what will happen. Im saying what should. I doubt you get a better qb at 1.20 then Will Howard after Jets, Raiders and Browns all take. And that's just off my head. The smart play is to either sink or Swim with Howard. If you sink you will be top 10. If you swim you got your guy. I'm not convinced this team makes playoffs and doubt they will win a playoff game.

After the next offseason contract cycle is over, DK's money will look like a bargain.
 
So the top three at QB right now are the Oregon kid I know nothing about. Mendoza and Ty Simpson. I dont know about the Oregon Kid and Mendoza could be better then Will Howard after this year around Rodgers. But they will both be surely gone. I really dont think anyone could possibly say Ty Simpson is better then Will Howard. He may be. But I don't believe there would be any metric to support that.
