A 5th rounder is too rich.
I would consider swapping 1st round disappointments (in fact, I might want a 6th round pick BACK with Jordan for Jarvis Jones) OR sending a 7th rounder for him.
Those are really the only reasonable things to do.
To me, Jarvis Jones still has some value. He works hard. He's been healthy enough. He stays out of trouble and isn't in the drug program.
The problem with Jones to me is I'm very concerned he's just not going to be an impact pass rusher (and I'm not talking just sacks, I mean pressures, disruptions, containment, etc.) for us at ROLB. He's also a bit undersized for LOLB.
Jones' position to me might be a move to strong side OLB in a 4-3 defense. There he can move a bit, hold the point against TE's and FB's and not be responsible for a lot of QB pressure against OT's. He can probably play zone, be a little disruptive, get 3-4 sacks a year as a "joker" on nickel downs, etc.
And let's face it, teams don't need great (or even really good) SAM linebackers in the 4-3. They just need good.
Unfortunately, just good might not be good enough to ROLB in the Steelers 3-4 defense. Unfortunately, "good" causes problems for us in regards to getting splash and negative plays a defense needs.
Jones for Jordan + 6th round pick.
7th round pick for Jordan straight up.
