Dion Jordan can be had for cheap...would you send a 5-6th rounder for him?

A 5th rounder is too rich.

I would consider swapping 1st round disappointments (in fact, I might want a 6th round pick BACK with Jordan for Jarvis Jones) OR sending a 7th rounder for him.

Those are really the only reasonable things to do.

To me, Jarvis Jones still has some value. He works hard. He's been healthy enough. He stays out of trouble and isn't in the drug program.

The problem with Jones to me is I'm very concerned he's just not going to be an impact pass rusher (and I'm not talking just sacks, I mean pressures, disruptions, containment, etc.) for us at ROLB. He's also a bit undersized for LOLB.

Jones' position to me might be a move to strong side OLB in a 4-3 defense. There he can move a bit, hold the point against TE's and FB's and not be responsible for a lot of QB pressure against OT's. He can probably play zone, be a little disruptive, get 3-4 sacks a year as a "joker" on nickel downs, etc.

And let's face it, teams don't need great (or even really good) SAM linebackers in the 4-3. They just need good.

Unfortunately, just good might not be good enough to ROLB in the Steelers 3-4 defense. Unfortunately, "good" causes problems for us in regards to getting splash and negative plays a defense needs.

Jones for Jordan + 6th round pick.

7th round pick for Jordan straight up.

Schefter is reporting that Dion Jordan will be suspended for the entire 2015 season.

Well he's suspended now. Eagles were close to a deal with him.

Link to CBS Miami report citing Schefter about Jordan's suspension:

Two thoughts:
1) Jordan is a freaking idiot ... he had to know that polluting his sample would still count as a strike.
2) If I am a GM of another team in the league, I think 4 or 5 times before discussing a trade for a player with Miami. They had to have some idea about this before they entered trade talks with the iggles.

Boy...the phins were going to do a really dirty deal...********.

... Soon to be followed by a report that Chip Kelly will no longer be taking calls from the Dolphins organization

"Really, Miami?"

Buyer beware

Those two suspensions we mentioned at the top of the story? That means the next time Jordan gets the hook, he’s going away for a long time. It doesn’t matter how talented the guy is, Jordan is useless to the Eagles if he’s unavailable for an entire season.

You might also want to take into account his next suspension will be his third, he is on the Rickey Williams path to enlightenment and lots of time off. At this point Jarvis may not be much but he is not about to get a season long suspension if he gets grabbed for a bit of the weed.

sounds like what I was talking about

And people wanted to trade for him lol

trade a 5th for him and go
1 CB Peters
2 CB Carter
3 S Amos
4 DT/DE Bennett
6 CB Olumo
6 DT Covington
7 OLB Wagensmann

he'd be worth a look he just seems to fit our system better. they try to run a hybrid 4-3 3-4 freeing up wake with a bunch of schemes. Hed be able to hold the strong side down in our zone blitz, his arms are like 40 inches long he could easily set the edge on that side.

I'm one of the biggest Jones critics but I'm not trading a guy who was drafted in the first two years ago unless I have to. Certainly not if I can get the guy for late rounders. We are not picking up another problem child though. Moot point.
