I saw about 10 minutes of his stuff today on video.

Pro: Outside of being very small, there is a lot to like. He's a coach son and plays like one. Very smart and alert. Accelerates and closes well to the ball carrier. Locks on and tackles well. Takes few wasted steps. Shows sideline to sideline range. A real plus on the blitz. Quick enough to be used in coverage breaks up his share of passes. More than the sum of his parts. An overachiever, who looks maxed out, his floor is rather high, and he might be close to his ceiling.

Con: I'd worry about him being engulfed by lineman and getting stuck on blocks. Does not look like a big hitter. His lock and tackle looks good in college, but might not be as good in the NFL due to his size. To shine, Bush will need a good defensive line. Due to his size, I'd feel better if we could get him in round two, or trading down to get in later in round one.

NFL Comparison: To use a player that people are familiar with, I'd say he's a bit like Zach Thoams. No way am I saying he'll have that type of career, just using the name to describe what type of game he has. He looks like a pumped-up safety in there. We'll see how he works out.

Devin White is the best ILB and Devin Bush is the 2nd best. If White is there, you take him. If he is not and Bush is, you take him. We can't screw around again like last year and not take any ILB. After those two, there is no one with a chance to contribute this year and probably not next year either.

I prefer White over Bush for now.

Is Bush of those great college players who won't pan out in the NFL? He is very small.

If a top corner who had good production and a good workout is on the board, I'd rather take him and go ILB in round two. Hanks impressed me at the senior bowl. Mack might be there in round two as well.

Of course we can always sign CJ Mosley in free agency and F the Ravens.

I don't think CJ is much better in coverage than what we already have. If White drops low enough and you can trade up for him, you do it. I doubt he dro0s that far unless his combine sucks. If Bush drops to us, you tske him.

The only legitimate alternative would be to trade back some, but you are likely to have to take Mack Wilson instead.

Have you seen anything over the last few years to trust a CB they pick in the draft?

Send Always Bitchin to Detroit for their #1, then take Greedy Williams/Devin White at 8, and whomever falls to us at 20.
simple

Devin white at #8 and Devin Bush at #20? Sold.

There should be some attractive Ilbers available in 2. So if they go a different route in 1 I am good with it. I like Bush and I think he would upgrade the Burnett position. Not as high on White as I initially was. I want a instinctual pass coverage ILber. Not sure he is the best option there.

What a glass house you live in, we must have missed your " analysis "

Some mock draft have us taking Bush at pick #20.
I am still watching. So I am reluctant to pigeon hole an opinion. So what draft site assisted with your eval this year? Coach I never have seen a draftnik so high on himself watch so little game tape. You even admitted to your lackidasical approach draft evaling and even at work. I am seeing a common theme with you.

How long does it take you to judge if a guy can play? Playmakers stand out, there is a certain set of skills I look for. Can you tell if a player made a good play or not? Can you see if he's in positon? Can you judge good technique? Do you know what good speed looks like on film?

My opinion is based on the given film, work out #'s, and production. I do not have access to medical reports or character reports, outside of what the media gives which is limited. I'm also leary about drafting a player who scored low on a Wonderlic test in a position that requires some leaning.

On Bush, I think his amount of solo tackles is a little low.

None of the websites are offering much at this point in time. If you want a Coach original, I was the guy who said Ed Oliver has inside linebacker skills...and other sites are now saying the same thing a few months later based on seeing him on film.

I tend to think my draft was better than the Steelers last year. The 2016 draft was a disaster. Remember I wanted X. Howard over Bruns ( one guy is a pro bowl corner, the other on the bench ) and would have taken a fine safety with a trade down offer from Denver.

Colbert needs to nail this draft as he did in 2017. With Brown wanting out, we have a need a WR and do not be fooled, Washington is not a deep threat or his replacement.

ILB, CB, and WR are clear needs. The team will need to make up their mind on OLB as well. Do you really want to pay Bud Dupree 7+ million a year? A better FS would be nice too.

I would guess longer than ten minutes.

Id be happy with bush in the 1st and Wilson in the 2nd. As of now, anyway. I'm wondering if wilson makes it to our spot in the 2nd.

I would have no problem taking Bush in the 1st and doubling up with Wilson in the 2nd. VW isn't getting any younger or faster. Hopefully we get a CB in free agency and a 1st rounder for AB so we can snag a WR in the 1st 2 rounds as well. That would hopefully make the middle of the field solid for years to come.

.

Fixed it for you.

Why pick two ILB's in round one and two? Only one of them can be the dime linebacker. Who's exiting on 3rd down? IMO, we need ILB, CB, and once we trade Brown WR before we take a second ILB in the Draft.

I said VW isn't getting any younger or faster and will need replaced in a year or two.

VW was never fast. I was disappointed the Steelers gave him a new deal, and I say this liking Williams off the field. He's a back up now, making way too much money. Williams cap number for 2019 is

Terrible move by Colbert.

What he said. If we could get Bush/Wilson, we'd be pretty well off for the next few years. Bush/Wilson > Vince/Whoever, I'd bet.

Also, id rather them spend $ on an FA CB than draft one. We need someone we know has produced at the nfl level.

How many times have you complained about a DB they picked. And you want them to choose another. If you dont think Vince is starting quality, we need 2 ILB, not just one. FA money on CB, to me, has greater value than FA money on ILB, when it is likely we can get 2 good ILB in the draft..

I am for picking DB's, I just disagree with who they picked.

2016. They picked Burns, I wanted X Howard.
2018. They picked Edwards, I wanted J. Reid.

Top free agent DB's cost a ton. Look how much a mediocre one like Morgan Burnett cost. M

You can actually get a S on the cheap. It is good CBs that are pricey.

stop. you praised Burns after his first season. Just stop with this selective revisionist history you continue to regurgitate on the board.
and let it be known, no one on this board gives a flying **** WHO YOU wanted to draft. No One.
we have who we have, and I'm sure Colbert puts in more film study than a guy who determines his opinion based on trips to the bar and who pff says is "the next great thing".
