USC Trojans should make a run at Mike Tomlin as their new head coach. Don't think he knows he just signed a new deal. But I know there are some here who would pack his bags give him a ride to the airport lol. Just thought it was interesting that these talking heads don't do their homework before going on TV.

Well.. you're talking about Desmond Howard here, what else do you expect?

Didn't a coach in Miami jump ship to head back to the college ranks a few years back? Not that Tomlin would be going anywhere.

Yes, the fact that he is under contract in Pittsburgh means nothing.

Yeah, I've never understood why coaches do not seem bound to their contracts like players are.

I personally think the USC job would be a great opportunity for Tomlin and is something he should definitely explore.

Yeah. Hmmmmmmmm. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy.

He has a dream job with stability now. No idea why he would abandon that for college coaching.

Because he would probably make pretty much the same as he does right now, only no 36 hour days 400 days a year. no free agent bullshit, no multi millionaire headcases to deal with and the weather in Cali is awesome. on the other hand though he would be giving up a life time job no matter what his record is. so if I am Tomlin I keep my *** in the burgh.

Stephen A Smith said this when discussing the Chip Kelly rumors back to college (paraphrasing):
"Why would he want to go into high school kids' living rooms to recruit them when he's got one of 32 jobs in the entire world that coaches strive to obtain?"

if he does back to coaching college, who do we got, we just replaced a legend in lebeau with Butler, haley I don't see hc material, his tenure as a hc showed, now do i don't want to see a 20 pg thread to bring the chin back, I think if he wanted he would of2-3 years ago, I think if the chin wants to come back he would only as a team pres role. If coaching he was interested in I could of seen him talk when the stains cleaned house as well as the bears, he is comfortable in the studio
Best case is as we know the rooney's dont like change in coaching often and if after MT deal expires and is not brought back, by then you can promote Butler to HC and probably Lake to DC. Some good Assistant may be available but as usual our fan base will ***** b/c of what our last @ present 3 coaches have given us

Noll 4 SB rings
Cohwer 1
Tomlin 1
and the multiple trips to the playoffs some they just were outcoached or the talent/ experience/adversity was to much i.e Cohwer 01,04, 04 we got screwed b/c of spygate, 01 just KS back to reality in afctg

I don't understand why any coach would prefer the NFL over a college job. Less work, more job security, your an idol on campus and your chances of becoming a legend are much greater.

Pretty much.

I tend to think that Tomlin would make a great college coach, especially pertaining to the recruitment process.

His pretentious walking and talking thesaurus bullsh1t is better off in the college ranks, anyway, as the prominent, largely penniless, superstar high school athletes are too naive to know any better, especially relative to their established professional counter parts.

His kids are still youngish, I wonder if at some point he won't decide to opt for a less time intensive job.

Say if he does go(which imo is a long shot). Does this mean the come back of Cowher power???

He might prefer better weather and fewer work days. Take it Tomlin!

Don't wanna feed the fire to any rumors. But if Cowher comes back. I'm painting my house black & gold all over. Bring back the chin!!! ;)

No.

The current owner (Art 2) pretty much hates Cowher.

Dan yielding business control to his son seemed to play a big roll in Cowher resigning. The timing seemed rather convenient otherwise.

Really dont think he leaves his TV gig. You need to have a coach 100% committed going all in. Cowher has been to the mountain top. Once the hunger is satisfied, its hard to be that hungry again. Really I think the only thing that could drag him back would be a project like Cleveland.

I can sense sarcasm, but I still think I want you to be the guy who audits my taxes.

Was the relationship between Cowher and Art 2 that bad? Wow. I know they had some disagreements. Just didn't know that bad

putting down my Steeler goggles for a second, I still think Tomlin has the most sought after job in pro sports. His job is certainly the most secure in Pro football. Methinks this dude just wrote something to get his name out there a bit more. what better way than to get the largest fan base talking......

Because he sucks at it and will likely be fired the day after the season ends.

Yeah, right.

When we get healthy we will have a top 5 offense, and one of the best front 7s in the entire NFL. Tomlin is the youngest head coach ever to win a Super Bowl and we've had 3 head coaches in 45 years.

Tomlin's not going anywhere.
