Derek Watt, come on down!!!!

I would like JJ but to trade Bud for him? No thanks. We know first of all Watt is an injury risk. Second at this stage in his career I would like to say Bud can cover more ground. Now if they want to trade a 4th for him (it is Bill we are talking about he is that dumb) or simply wait until next year I am all in.

It was meant more as a joke but yeah I agree. Watt on the DL with Heyward and Tuitt would be pretty damn stout.

Thanks. Says they will cut him after they sign Watt. Gotta wait for that window to open and he's gone. Its a good signing and a tough deal about Nix. We move on.
 
What I like about this acquisition is that with Ben coming back from MAJOR surgery and with the O line being depleted a solid blocking FB, which Derek appears to be, is just what Big Ben needs.

Besides he will, on offense, try to outdo what his brother does on Defense. If this happens LOOK OUT!


All in all a good acquisition. Sorry to lose Rosie but he was hurt a lot last year.

I saw some of his blocks on special teams and at FB I think he is going to be a solid contributer in both areas. Our RBs need someone ON the field helping lead the way. He will be solid doing that. As well as not letting STs slack with Dirty Red out of the picture.

At first I didn’t like the signing but considering what Red got and what Nix was getting I’m liking it more. Don’t get me wrong I like Derek Watt, hell I have his jersey, I was just looking at what Nix was gettin paid.

Steelers saved $1M by cutting Nix. Makes Watt that much more affordable.

I'm just sad we lost both Nix and Matakevich this year. They were both ST studs. We get one back in return, and to be fair, Nix only played in 4 games last year, and fully healthy for one complete game.

If you couldn't sign Bud long term, I'd make that trade and the ink couldn't dry fast enough. He doesn't need to play every down. He had 21 QB hits in 8 games. **** he came in after 8 weeks and was still a force. You have to scheme against JJ Watt. Sorry Slash that would be a no brainer for one season.

Who would play Bud's spot?

are you changing the D scheme with one less OLBer?


And there is the ol you can't help us if you are in the hot tub theory. He has had one complete season in four years.

That is one good year out of four.

So you would take a guy that has been on the field and replace him with a guy that the odds show won't be.

And hey I get the like I like the guy and the thought of three high energy players on the team could have a domino effect.

But for me not even for that year.... (Unless we have an adequate OLB replacement)

Okay, so just thinking about this scenario for a moment; do you go to a 4-3 with Cam & Tuitt inside with JJ & TJ on the outside? TJ seems quite light to be a DE in a 4-3 though. I'm taking into account Bud Dupree not being around if they really got JJ Watt.

Thoughts?

Get rid of Bud you would either be short one starting LBer or DE.


But if you move TJ to a 4/3 DE you would actually be short two OLBers. With Bush being the middle rover.............

So I think you would have to stay with the 3/4 and simply replace Bud with a 1st round pick or a free agent assuming he was gone................
