Derek Watt, come on down!!!!

Would it though?

Who would play Bud's spot?

are you changing the D scheme with one less OLBer?

And there is the ol you can't help us if you are in the hot tub theory. He has had one complete season in four years.

That is one good year out of four.

So you would take a guy that has been on the field and replace him with a guy that the odds show won't be.

And hey I get the like I like the guy and the thought of three high energy players on the team could have a domino effect.

But for me not even for that year.... (Unless we have an adequate OLB replacement)

First off define OLB in this defense anymore. You could create a sub package that gets JJ off the field on some downs. Say you go Buggs, Tuitt and Heyward. TJ Watt, William's and Ola. But the reality is what I do is in almost any passing down I go JJ on the weak side and TJ on the Strong. I drop this left right bullshit. I'm bull rushing JJ from the weak. That will open any inside linebacker blitz from the weak side. I'm keeping TJ wide. On a five man blitz you have the Watts, Heyward, Tuitt and Williams or Bush. Good ****** luck. All five of those guys could walk a one on one straight back into the QB.

They got rid of Barron which I thought sub package coveraged nice. Problem is Ola and Buggs are huge question marks. Ola would have to be run stop and pass coverage steady. Not sure I like that gamble. With potential weak links offenses hunt them down and exploit them no matter what formations you throw out there. I don't have enough faith in two raw non proven players who played little last year. Little more confident in Buggs but it still is a question mark. So at Ben's ever shrinking window you want to create more question marks. I say more as we already have depth question marks at three positions, Big Ben returning to health question marks, and a starting G or RT question marks. With very little draft capital and tight against the cap to throw in the monkey wrench. For me just not the year to do that. I prefer they shore up some depth concerns and solidify the Oline in free agency. And this is without addressing backup QB which I strongly feel will be a huge fail going into the season. See so many issues is this really the year to shake up a pass rushing tandem that IS steadily working. You know the ol saying if it isn't broke don't fix it? Plenty to fix without blowing open new concerns.

Quite the opposite. I want to push my chips in. If they do not sign Bud long term in a few weeks he is walking next year. And frankly if he gets a bump he isn't going full out. All you need to do is put a first and ten defense on the field. That isn't rocket science. Watch how many times those guys really drop coverage in passing situations. Very little. Plenty of athletes in coverage. Let the two war daddys hunt. And **** in the end its entertainment. And I would be a hell of a lot more entertained going for it with JJ and TJ then sneaking in the playoffs with Bud Dupree trying to avoid injury to get his fat contract.

On a one-year prove it again contract you can damn sure Bud is going all out. There will be no coasting into free agency.

I'm not saying he won't try. I'm saying when you factor in his financial situation, you really don't have a great deal more risk with Watt. Bud is not playing hurt. Too much to lose. He ain't coming back in the season from a torn peck that is for damn sure.

so a Texans fan sent me a link to what may be the dumbest football writer of all time.....yes even dumber than coach

the guys article suggests that O'brien could get the Steelers to trade Dupree, McDonald and 2021 1st round and 2020 3rd round draft picks to unite JJ with his brothers in Pittsburgh

He couldn't get a 1st rounder back with arguably the best WR in the game....but JJ's old *** would.....

Ask him if the trade doesn't include a blow job too and a piña colada

We have a greater chance to land JJs mother in a trade with O'Brien..................... I would take her as a replacement for Danny Smith in a heartbeat

Sounds good not a problem, but we will be sending them Duck Hodges for Deshaun Watson and their next four 1st round picks.

I'd consider trading Bud for JJ straight up. But only if JJ can play the other OLB spot...

Here's an outside the box idea:

Heyward is a FA next year. Do you trade Heyward straight up for JJ now? JJ has 2 years left on his contract.

FYI, this move would cost the Steelers another $5M to make.

I don't do it for Tuitt, since he's under contract for another 3 years.
