Deflate-gate......God I hate the Pats!!!!

Looks like I'm alone in the who gives a **** club. I just don't see it as a big deal.

I'd agree if it were some other team or if the Pats* didn't have priors. But considering who it is, I find it kind of interesting mostly because of the timing. If this had broken back in September or October, it probably wouldn't have the same kind of impact. I'm still dubious that the league does anything crazy serious though.

It pissed me off, but its not like theyre gonna remove them from the superbowl over it, so it just leaves me apathetic. Though I DO hope they lose picks for their underhandery

CP might have already linked it, but John Madden is now saying only the QB can get the ball done up like that.

Madden can be considered a mouth piece for the Shield.

maybe we're seeing the plan if this keeps snowballing.

Marsha get's suspended.

Lol pipe dream.. not a snowball's chance in hell

Yeah to me its like pitchers scuffing up the baseball, batters wiping out the batters box, or grounds crews maybe wetting the infield just a bit more for certain teams. Wasnt it the Colts who got in trouble for pumping in artificial noise into the stadium a few years back?

According to the league the deflated balls were replaced at halftime and properly inflated balls were used in the second half. Supposedly the balls were checked at the end of the game and all was good. If this is true, It would be easy to sneakily deflate balls, but pumping them back up would be tough.

You're not alone. Truthfully, I don't give a **** .. other than to take a little glee in anything that further tarnishes the Pats** reputation/legacy under Belicheat and Marsha. The reason I don't give a **** may differ from yours. Personally, I have little faith in the NFL to handle this, or any other conduct, cheating, integrity matter appropriately. So, I fully expect the Pats** to walk off w/a minimum fine and that's it. Once the bar is set low, it's easy not to give ****.

I hate the Pats as much as anyone, but like you,... I don't see this as a big deal.

yeah cheating to gain a edge isn't a big deal
yeah repetitive cheating in a sport that I love isn't a big deal
possible causing the team that I love a few SB appearances isn't a big deal
ruining the sport that we love, isn't a big deal
as in making a mockery of the sport I have loved since childhood isn't a big deal

if cheating is acceptable why watch?

sometimes what is acceptable in life just reminds me how people have changed over the decades

yeah Goodell is a tool and ******* up our sport
yeah the Patriots have done every thing they could to cheat and get away with it
yeah we can do little about it

but I will continue to have morals and standards
I will continue to want punishments handed down
and I will continue to call them on their foolery
and I will make it known my displeasure whenever the opportunity arises

I am not a sheep I do not follow the easy way

it is easy to say **** it and not care

harder to stick up for what you believe in whats right

I will continue down the harder path

and in the process I will know that if they get a ring it means nothing

and wait for the day that either Goodel &l, Billacheat steps down or is fired

or I keel over whichever comes first

go Steelers **** cheaters

I don't feel bad. Makes me feel pretty good actually.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. And I get pleasure out of the Pats fans try to defend the cheating....their eyes get big, there's foaming at the mouth....it's comical.

Looking at the bright side this is a win, win, imo.

Another * trophy no matter who wins. Hawks fans will snivel about a loss (as they are still sniveling about XL) but this time it will be sniveling over this bs somehow affecting the outcome. Or they'll have a "tainted" victory due to the distraction of the *'s by this bs.

The *'s fate as illegitimate is already sealed either way.

And I'm happy either way.

Standing ovation!!!

Biggest thing for me is that they got the balls inspected, then deflated them after. The old adage of "if you're not cheating, then you're not trying" is too much for me. They're CONSTANTLY trying

The big thing for me? What have they done that they haven't been caught at? If you have the balls to play with your balls in front of everyone then you'll do anything...

Aaron Rodgers may have a point, strangely enough, about liking the ball over-inflated. Madden (I bring him up respectfully) said he doesn't get Aaron Rodgers. So, since the dirty old Raiders from by-gone years have back-doored their way into the controversy, the Helium Football deserves an honorable mention:

And, the simple explanation in common everyday language, especially to all you football fans out there:

"Newton's Second Law states that an object's force is equal to its mass multiplied by its acceleration. The greater the mass, the greater the force (or inertia). Therefore, the slightly heavier air-filled football actually pushes through the air with greater force, flying slightly farther than a lighter helium-filled football."

See, even a four year old can understand that.

skialta;100694. The old adage of "if you're not cheating said:
Herein lies the rub ! EVERY sport ( and most every business ) has a certain element of " competitive advantage " that can be used to enhance performance. In my yout we spent a lot of time on the drag strip trying to " enhance " anywhere and everywhere we could...legal or not. NASCAR continually finds ways the clever people find to enhance their vehicles.

Football is no different, teams, coaches and players constantly are looking for that edge.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers likes to overinflate the football. When the Packers and Patriots played on Nov. 30, CBS broadcaster Phil Simms relayed a conversation he had with Rodgers.

“He said something which was unique. ‘I like to push the limit to how much air we can put in the football, even go over what they allow you to do, and see if the officials take the air out of it,’” Simms said of Rodgers. “Because he thinks it’s easy for him to grip. He likes them tight.”

Rodgers defended the practice Tuesday on his radio show on ESPN Milwaukee.

“It’s not an advantage when you have a football that’s inflated more than average air pressure. We’re not kicking these footballs,” he said.

It’s unclear how often the NFL investigates ball issues. In another incident this season, the NFL reminded all 32 teams that they cannot warm the balls with sideline heaters during cold games, after the Panthers and Vikings did it in their Nov. 30 game in Minneapolis, drawing a warning from officials.

Being a Cheatriot hater is easy for us Steel City dwellers but facts be known...this wasn't that big a deal.

On the first play from scrimmage after the opening kickoff of the third quarter, the officials held up the game for a minute and ultimately switched out the game ball.

The Pats scored most of their points in the second half, after the ball fiasco was uncovered and that alone takes a lot of air outta the crime.

Sherman basically calls Brady a dick...not that this should be shocking to anyone. And he brings up an excellent point about the league's priorities on game day.

“Nobody is going to get suspended, nothing is going to happen, they’re going to play this game, whatever they did, the risk-reward was greater,” Sherman said. “They were trying to suspend Marshawn [Lynch] for gold shoes. That really affects the game if you suspend Marshawn for gold shoes, but then you got balls being deflated and that’s an issue.”

Classy team the Pats*

Bill is playing ignorant, no shock there. They'll throw some random guy from the organization or the ball boy or whatever to the wolves and it'll be business as usual from there on out.

I thought I read somewhere that when the balls were checked after the game they were underinflated again? Can't find a link though.

so EVERY ex-NFL QB has gone on radio to talk about how they prefer the football to be set up, soft vs. hard, raised laces, laundered, "rubbed" etc...

every one of them has said the same thing, it is the preference of the starting quarterback. period...

except the New England Patriots...who, I guess, just don't know what's going on with anything...ever

They play stupid while rain man Adams feeds them intel.

The difference between a more and a less inflated ball is the grip that the QB can get and the fact that the laces flatten out as the ball is more inflated which makes it harder to grasp. Watch the clip on ESPN with Brunell yesterday. He said that he could throw the under inflated ball 10 yards farther than the fully inflated one. It makes a huge difference, especially with a wet ball.
