I swear to God I don't know what some of you watch on Sundays. The Steelers have played four teams with a combined win total now of 3-15-1. The defense is averaging a hair under 22 points per game with very minimal turnovers allowed. Every game they have a chance to dagger these ****** *** teams and every game they make it go down to the wire. And some of you are talking about record setting pace. When the **** did we become Bengal like fans. Lots of sacks, sure. Low run yards yes (because the opponent wants to throw on them there will be less run yards and more sacks by math). Lets talk about historic after they play the Ravens twice and the Bills. Better yet lets talk about their defense after the season (if it finishes). This is the softest *** schedule I have ever seen. If they don't win 12 game it is a failure.

The defense is living off stats.. What game have we not been biting our nails till the last play.. Game should have been over yesterday after first quarter. 77 yard TD and the second quarter belonged to the Eagles,, The secondary was torched, players turned around, receivers wide open, bad tackling , The offense had to score on what six positions to win. Get a sack and third and way long,, first down. Sacks are great getting off the field on third down is better/

Two aspects of the D is doing well. The run D and QB sack and pressures. From that standpoint it is exciting to watch. Every week someone tries to discredit the team due to who they played. But you play who is on your schedule. We also know in the past they did their fair share of losing to those teams that you or some others might perceive to be lesser teams. On any given day you can lose in the NFL. If you play pickems you will see plenty of teams lose that you would think have no business losing. .

At the same time I won't sugarcoat that the secondary needs to play better. But at the same time I won't downplay what the D is doing very well. Sure there will be better matchups on paper better tests ahead. Everything is a wait and see but the arrow is pointing up on most aspects of the team.

So as far as the record setting aspects you can have that and still be deficient in other areas of the team on defense. One doesn't pump up the other or lessen the other.

As the secondary can be worrisome the ability to get after the QB and make some splash plays is often what is needed from a championship team. Bend don't break.

I think now that week in and week out there will be no breaks, the team will have the time to fine tune.

This defense let it go down to the wire against the 3rd string Broncos QB and made Travis Fulgham look like Megatron.
This defense isnt anything special, they just haven't played anyone special. I could see a handful of the top teams shredding this D

Take the good with the bad. We have some good playmakers on both DEF and OFF.
Racking up sacks and stopping the run does give us an edge. I would rather watch a game and have that confident feeling that the DEF can get a 3 and OUT when necessary to swing momentum. Splash plays are great to see but moving the chains or getting a stop on D when needed is of more importance to me as a fan. It imposes your will on the other team and wears them down both physically and mentally. A win is a win, it doesn't count more against an elite team than it does against a cellar dweller so I won't ***** about how they got there, I'll celebrate the win and hope for consistency going forward.
This is not a normal season by any measure with Covid. No true camp and pre season.... major injuries are hitting teams harder than I can ever remember. Hopefully we stay healthy for the most part and continue to grow as a unit.

KC lost to LV
DAL nearly lost to NYG
SEA needed a miracle drive to beat MIN

Tell me what you are seeing from our team vs what you are missing across the rest of the league?

The league is competitive and winning consistently is tough to do.

I will agree that this is the easiest schedule the AFC north has had in years. Probably why 3 teams in it already have 4 wins?

If the Steelers smashed 3 decent opponents and lost to a tougher team like Vegas, I would be more impressed with their performance. The next three games are going to tell the story. Particularly the Browns/ Ravens in my opinion. I wouldn't call Mayfield elite, but they are playing good offensive ball. If they run the Steelers out and he balls out, you have a legit problem. And one thing I know for certain is The Steelers are more likely to resign a guy in season then they are to have the Tomlin coaching staff fix an in season problem. Is this team a playoff team. Yes and they ****** should be with this talent and schedule. Are they elite and a real championship contender much less historic and record setting defense. Not sold and no way.
