Defense has no balls

butler needs to go or scrap the 2-4-5 either use 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 or 3-2-6 2 DL no decent rush

But don't waste time running the ball! .....5 WIDE!!!...spread offense, come out shotgun no huddle from the drop of the flag!

Until we have a legitimate running game it won't matter who we have at WR. We cannot keep playing in a hole and expect to have a running game. I am not convinced that Conner can be a 3 down back in the NFL regardless.
 
it is time for the 4-3 enough of this hybrid BS so predtiable and since we our LB's stink in coverage why did our best cover LB see emergency PT Fort he would of done a better job dropping back.

I'd be happy if we had 3DL half the time. We don't even run a damn 3-4 Defense, we run a 2-4 50% of the time. It is mind numbing.

Honestly, with this offense and particularly with the offensive line - I think 4 wide and a sidecar that can motion out to spread the D further is a GREAT idea. Conner can catch well enough that he can be a relief valve and if he's sidecared and the other 4 wideouts spread WAY THE **** OUT it may give the offensive line just enough help so that Conner isn't being met by 3 defenders every time he approaches the line of scrimmage.

Our defense gave up two touchdowns. It was 14-14 at half. With 47 yards of 2nd half offense and a 10 min TOP differential, I’d say our offense lost this game. Oh and our defense does suck, but offense could have pulled this out. 47 yards, just let that soak in.
 
The defense isn't good, but I refuse to believe they should be this bad. A quality defensive coordinator could get more out of these players than what Tomlin/Butler are getting.

Perhaps, but they've done a pretty ****** job of drafting, it seems.

It's just pretty shocking how much the defense has regressed since the players from those Superbowl teams declined and moved on.

Heyward, Tuitt and Haden are probably the only players who would start on most other teams.

Ultimately, Tomlin and Colbert are the ones who have to own this ****.

The drafting and developing has been underwhelming, but I still think you can take an average group of players and have them play good team defense.

Heyward - Very good player and good value in the draft. Having a down season based on his standards.
Hargrave - Appropriately drafted and has underwhelmed since flashing as a rookie.
Tuitt - Terrific value in the pick but has not lived up to his potential
Watt - Good value in the draft and a solid all-around defender. Needs to develop pass rushing moves.
Dupree - Athletic player, but very raw. Probably a reach, but is at least producing some this year after being invisible last year.
Burns - Athletic, but overdrafted. Hasn't shown the signs of being a consistent No. 1 or 2 corner.
Davis - Overdrafted by a round and no better than average.
Edmunds - Overdrafted, but still too early to tell what he'll develop into.

It seems over the years about half of their first or second round defenders have been overdrafted based on where we expected them to be slotted in the draft.
 
For the life of me I cannot figure out why we let Flucco sir back there and destroy us. It wasn't working on the first half, bring the house! We brought the house against fitz and I think even though they did score on us, it rattled him.
Flucco with pressure makes mistakes, a lot.

Also the Ravens like to Chuck it deep. How many times does WRs get behind us? This also brings up if we were not rushing and if we were getting beat over the top then where was our D playing?
 
We've discussed this many times before. The reason the defense blows is because Tomlin thinks he's some type of defensive guru. You can't play hybrid 3-4/4-3/2-4 and expect to do anything. There are certain things you need to play any defense. A true 3-4 needs a fireplug NT that needs to be double teamed. Without that a 3-4 is about as useful as **** on a boar hog. The 2 DL formation is a ******* joke. There is a reason why nobody else runs that stupid *** defense. You can't expect 2 DL to get pressure against 5... yes 5 OL. Ain't happening and I don't care who the 2 DL are because it doesn't matter. It's ******* stupid.

Tomlin's finger prints are all over this defense. He was the one that wanted LeBeau gone so he could implement his cover-2 bullshit and hybrid 2 DL garbage. I believe this defense set a record with allowing 9 TD passes in 2 games. Horrible.
