I know he's just doing Coach-Speak like he does, but Tomlin, when asked about Burn's efforts to overcome the adversity that has turned his game lackluster said this...

“I didn’t know that he was in adversity,” Tomlin said.

Are you ******* kidding me? I mean there's coach speak, there's bald-faced lying and there's obtuseness so profound it's terrifying.

Which are we looking at here?

I don't disagree with him semantically. What adversity was he in? He wasn't injured or have some other trauma or life challenge, he just sucked. That isn't what I consider adversity.

Actually I think it's wrong to pray for anything in football unless someone is hurt. Yes Burns had some issues, on and off the field. Tomlin was not honest with Arians either.

There is a difference between a non answer and a lie. We saw option #2 on that statement.

Relax, it's just Shades using bigger words than necessary again.

Just like Billy Beane, Mike Tomlin does not watch the games. He fears it will color his view of the players.

I totally get your point, but I think that he’s saying it as “Artie had no reason to struggle; it’s self-inflicted, and something that HE needs to clean up.” James Conner dealt with adversity; Artie Burns did not.

Yeah I don't know if I would get too excited over this one.

That guy, while over the top, is pretty damn spot on. Pretty funny ****. I didn't really pay attention to the views, is this guy getting a following?

The adversity of being a terrible cb in the NFL. I honestly don't know how THAT guy can make the squad this year.

Funny thing is he has had good and bad moments in camp so far. Take it what it is worth as it is way early. But it is better than last years suck after suck after suck.

There was no crystal ball for his downfall, as it came full throttle. There will be no crystal ball for turning it around. If he does.On the surface a person might say man no way will this guy rebound.

And that might be the end story. And then again it might not. That is the beautiful part of training camp. It can make you or break you.

I think so far it hasn't broke him......

So far.

Adversity of being a first round pick that showed promise, then got benched, then got relegated to barely playing, to having his roster bonus pushed back, to struggling to even make the team now. Yeah I see no adversity.

Denial, apathy, non emotional, dim witted, lackadaisical, content......

This dudes issues are not on Tomlin. It is his job to be prepared for HIS CAREER. He gets paid major cheese....You know there are many, many talented players who never put it all together in all the major sports and faded away. What Tomlin is saying is dude is like everyone else who has to work out, get stronger, learn the playbook, get faster, lose weight, gain weight whatever...

If a player doesn't develop it is not the coaches or staffs fault. Geeze these are guys getting paid HUGE AMOUNTS OF $$$$. Hire yourself a ******* personal coach....Hire a ******* strength coach, a dietician, a ******* cook....******* hire a personal DB coach to prep you....Give up a 100K to develop as a player...

What the hell...Get ready for Sunday any way you got to...Burns' lack of development is ALL ON BURNS....

This is the NFL....If you can't get it together and do your job, someone else wants THAT JOB....and will TAKE YOUR JOB....Oh and YOUR $ALARY

Next man up.........

I think you sum it up, though, on your second point. He was benched because of his own struggles. It wasn’t a broken leg that caused him to suck, and then get benched; it’s Becauee he can’t take his damn eyes out of the backfield, and gets beat like a rented mule off the line, on double-moves, all up and down the field really. It starts/stops with Artie Burns; any perceived adversity has been created by Burns.

Anyone watching this team knows that Artie Burnt had a terrible season last year. He's going to get a lot of pre-season reps to see if that is still the case. I don't see him rebounding after the **** show he produced last year

DEBO spent a lot of money on himself taking care of his body and preparing it for the vigors of the NFL. At first or early is was in the $100G range then climbed excess of $250G range per season.

Salute the nation

wig, Coach Noll was known for some doosey comments also. I think it might be a back handed slap at the reporter's question.

Let's just hope that Joe Haden and Steve Nelson click.

Overall, the defense has improved.

The national media has focused way too much on the loss of LeVean Bell and Antonio Brown.

In my book that's good. I like when they "crown" the Cleveland Brown's the champs of the division before there's even been a game played.

The Stillers historically always play better as the underdog.

I like Burns he's a high-character kid, practically raised his brothers and sisters on his own while attending college. That being said I have my doubts if he develops under Tomlin. Name me one CB( Shades' specialty by the way) Tomlin has drafted and developed. Would not be surprised if Burns got traded or cut, went to another team, and then developed into a decent player.

NO NO NO.. Tomlin isn't responsible for player development. He isn't responsible for anything except his overall record... unless that tanks then it's the players fault.
