Day Three - Draft Day Discussion

Wait .. Jesse James was drafted in the fifth round, correct? And we took his (hopefully) replacement in the fifth round. While I may have taken a flier on OLB or even Wilson, nobody is paying me to make the decision. Also, the kid dropped almost .2 of a second off of his Combine 40 at his pro day. Maybe a sleeper.

Heath was slow as **** 4.87 40 time, but he caught everything and made real tough catches.

And a dominant blocker..which this guy isnt...dont be throwing any Heath comparison in here good or bad..I'm willing to see what this guy turns into..but Heath is probably the best most complete TE in franchise history

Irrelevant, Gentry isn't who they wanted, so who cares about that nonsense

Hmm, and you know this how? They had him out for dinner at Michigan's pro day, doubt they just picked his name out of a hat since some other TE was suddenly off the board.

Pretty sure they wanted him since they drafted him

Obvious sarcasm, that was pointed at people on the board complaining about the pick, that was the "they"

Guess I should have prefaced it with the "sarcasm" tag

Of course browns get Mack Wilson

I'm glad they took a TE finally, his size will help on the red zone and Ben will be happy with that. Anyone has info on his blocking ability?

It's no mystery what the Steelers look for when drafting TE's... Matt Spaeth 6-7, Jesse James 6-7, Zach Gentry 6-8....

Yes, make sure there is no discussion on this board. everything the steelers do is correct and you must never question it.

You are not allowed to disagree with anything the steelers do

Seems there was plenty of reason he fell so far down on all 32 teams' boards.

Wilson looked like a future first-round linebacker from Alabama early in his career but actually regressed from that point. He doesn't play with much assertiveness, struggles to get off blocks, and isn't as impactful in coverage as his athleticism would indicate.

Been said that he is an effort blocker. So seeing that he changed from QB to TE. Perhaps he can still develop in that area.

Well when you complain about everything they do, that's not the same thing, lulz

wish they would jump up and get either Walker (Edge), Omenihu/Buggs (DE).

After this draft I'm starting to think that they have serious trust on Marcus Allen to be the backup SS behind Edmunds and Barron

Omenihu is gone... 3 picks in the 6th round, come on don't seat there with your thumbs up your butt, we don't need so many picks anyway to fill the roster, get one that has a serious chance

3a still mystifies me should of taken winovich I love all this wolverine to B &G but he was a need now those scums in boston have him, could of gotton the wr at 3B and rnd 4 CB Isiah Johnson but I love everything I read about the msu kid so far

I try to evaluate the picks and how they will work with what the Steelers have. Even though I'm a Steeler fan i try to look at the individual players drafted not "Well the Steelers took them so they must be great". Most people are homers and I understand that. But that is different from evaluating talent or at least trying too. Which is why I usually butt heads with people on here. If the Steelers had drafted Wilson he would be seen as a steal. But since the clowns draft him "Well there is a reason why he fell so far". I can point this out because there was a reason Gentry fell but since the Steelers took him he is a "Steal".

It'll work out in the end. I've never claim to be an expert but it's good to hear people's reasoning for who they wanted. I've missed a lot. I loved the Golston pick a few years ago. But I've hit a few as well. I hated the Jones pick and the Archer pick. I just wished that people could disassociate the player from the team.

long time no see Vader, that's the difference between a normal person (you) and coach, unlike you coach never fails, that's what makes him so unbearable, the guy thinks he is golden

He may do more research than I do. I use to do spreadsheets and mock drafts and put those together with the videos. I don't do that any more. After the Archer fiasco and TMC leaving I kind of got away from all that. Everyone misses in the draft. I can only look at players. I don't have assess to interviews and insider info. I also don't have any idea what the Steelers are planning as far as cuts and positions that will be open in the next year or so. That's why they draft players that are surprising at times. They know the cap and who they may have to let go. They don't just draft for this year.

I still watch a ton of college football. I'm familiar with most teams best players and their combine results. This is especially true of SEC teams. I won't know as much about PAC team or other small conferences.

not everything. But i will complain when they draft a RB that runs a 4.65 40 as a backup RB when they have bigger needs and better players were still available.

maybe you are posting while wearing your Jarvis Jones jersey

Brailford could be our edge pick.this round
