Da ****?

I cannot listen to this guy anymore. He uses a lot of words, and says nothing.

And that's different than what other coach in the league.....Hoodie just has that mean mug, "don't give two ***** attitude" about even talkin to the press and he NEVER says anything of value. Coaches hate interviews, so Tomlin throws em **** and lets em decode it. Obviously.

the arrow is pointing up on this interpretation. The standard is the standard.

What does that have to do with it? Cowher didn't give away game plans, but he also didn't talk in circular double speak, which is all Tomlin does. He thinks replacing common words with less common ones makes him seem smarter.

Makes him SEEM smarter ? Give him an IQ test.....bet he blows most of us out the water

I have a feeling if Cowher did this talk that Tomlin does it would of been great.....but since it is Tomlin not so much. Amazing that even his pressers get ripped apart for how he talks in them. I could give to ***** how he talks. He is only going to give out the bare minimum of info he has to anyways. Just like all of the OTHER HC's during their pressers. Imagine that? Rip the guy because of his short comings at coaching.....but please. Stop the ******* constant crying of his press conferences.

We have a pedigree if we are playing well obviously in the process of making sure every rock is overturned, negativity will not be painted with a broad brush, but minimized. Obviously that viable would be less significant than what it could be.

Positive mindset is obviously what we desire to have. Men the standard is the standard as we move forward defending every blade of grass. It is time to go to the mattresses if you will, this isn't our first rodeo. The quintessential Steelers player doesn't worry about style points but only if his arrow is pointing up.

We are a battle hardened group, our guys won't blink down the stretch. We need definite continuity, as there is no need for a timeout. What I need is to see splash plays, plenty of effort obviously that's what it will take. Soak it in, this is one to grow on.

LMFAO! Are you Tomlin?
I will say, this season the guy has done a good job. Compared to other NFL teams the Steelers team morale is paradise. How many times do you hear about the Steelers having locker room drama? The teams only drama has been the banning of ping pong tables. I'd take that and a few losses over a soap opera type NFL team anyday

In other words Tomlin has some type of control over his team

For better or worse, like it or not, Coach Cool Shades is solidly in the top ten of NFL head coaches. That may be damning with faint praise but even the most ardent Tomlin haters can't come up with more than ten head coaches who are better. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is above the line, obviously.

Yes. I'm not talking about just this year's records but realistically who is as good or better looking at their overall body of work?
Hoodie
The Bruce, as much as it pains me to admit that
Mike McCarthy
Pete Carroll
Tom Coughlin
Sean Peyton
Jim Caldwell
John Fox, maybe
Marv Lewis, equal
Ron Rivera, equal

Do you really think that Chip Kelly or Lovie Smith or Mike Mularkey are better than Shades?

If I look at their overall body of work, Tomlin had the fourth highest win percentage of active coaches entering this year. Behind, the Hoodie, McCarthy and Hairball. So, that alone (tenure + wins) puts him in the top 5. Is that subject to change? Of course. To me it's a fluid concept. Take McCarthy for example. When faced with adversity similar to what Tomlin has faced this year (in the form of injuries) his team has not shown the resolve that the Steelers have. As those who like to bash Tomlin point out often, such results fall on the HC. A lack of talent shouldn't make Payton immune from dropping either. I've heard around here numerous times that it's not an excuse for poor performing teams.

I mean, these are just my thoughts. Any ranking of coaches based on anything other than wins/losses and winning percentage is subjective anyway.

Tomlin has had seasons where the team didnt make the playoffs. I admit I wanted the guys head. I think since towards the end of last season the team has been on the up rise. There are still a bit of problems to work on but Cool Shades has handled the sutuation well.

The Steelers are a proud organization based on consistency and tradition. Cool Shades is not going anywhere "obviously". I think the guy will coach this team to a 7th ring

I agree, I'm just trying to be rational and point out that for all his failings, obviously if you will, there simply ARE NOT many coaches out there who are better and a lot who are worse.
For example there are probably a lot of 49'ers fans who wish they had Hairball back.

I don't think you remember too much about the Cowher years. One of the big complaints about Cowher WAS how little he said during pressers. Same complaint. Different guy. It's the nature of the job. And, no, I don't really think he cares what anyone thinks about his word usage.

If it offends you so much, write a letter. Maybe if all of you who spend your time worrying about the words used by a football coach during a press conference wrote him a letter, he would change his vocabulary just for you. Or maybe he'd just shrug his shoulders and say ... "Da ****"?

Again, the point is the difference between the two coaches in how they say nothing. We know all coaches say nothing during a presser, that's ancient news.

I think it's funny how riled up some people get when anything negative is said about Tomlin. Offends me? Hardly, all I do is point out facts. The offense seems to be from your end.

He likes to try and use his expansive, useless vocabulary to frustrate/confuse people. You can tell from the reactions here that it works. I think it's amusing. He's like the guy who got a vocabulary calendar for Christmas and tries to incorporate new words every day even if they don't necessarily work.

I asservate your punctilious proclamation, and aver to Coach Tomlin's perspicacious promulgations.

So there.

When you get down to bitching about press conferences must be the coaching is pretty good.
