''If we are playing well, if we minimize negativity, it will aid our efforts in terms of making that a variable that's less significant than it can be,''
C'mon... You KNOW he's just making this **** up...

If I were Tomlin, I'd continue saying **** just like that ... Just to piss y'all off. To be fair, he also said this gem during his presser.

"This is an extra day and I'm not required to talk about that ... So I'm not."

Pretty straight forward.

Hell yes, he's making it up. I hope he keeps on talking in circles....the reporters just sit there thinking...."the **** did he say?"

If I were in that type of position I would say whatever I want as long as I didn't give any important info out.

Weird how people still hang on his every word after how many years now?

We have a pedigree if we are playing well obviously in the process of making sure every rock is overturned, negativity will not be painted with a broad brush, but minimized. Obviously that viable would be less significant than what it could be.

Positive mindset is obviously what we desire to have. Men the standard is the standard as we move forward defending every blade of grass. It is time to go to the mattresses if you will, this isn't our first rodeo. The quintessential Steelers player doesn't worry about style points but only if his arrow is pointing up.

We are a battle hardened group, our guys won't blink down the stretch. We need definite continuity, as there is no need for a timeout. What I need is to see splash plays, plenty of effort obviously that's what it will take. Soak it in, this is one to grow on.

I cannot listen to this guy anymore. He uses a lot of words, and says nothing.

Riddle me this ... Did Cowher give away his game plan during pressers? Did The Emperor? Why the **** would you want your coach giving out any important information during a presser, during the season? Makes absolutely no sense.

I kinda like his horse crap way of talking. Makes great sense as the O'l line goes
"If I can't dazzle you with my brillency, I'll baffle you with my bullshit"
He's nailed it to a "T"

Salute the nation

I think some people try to hard to sound intelligent when they have a microphone in their face and a camera pointed at them. The funny thing is that the exact opposite happens... They wind up sounding stupid.

It is an old sales technique: BSBB

Bull **** Baffles Brains.

works on some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time. Obviously.

Generally speaking when I hear people talk in a way that makes themselves sound smart it has the opposite effect on me.

To much icing on the cake from Tomlin, will we be ready to play after the bye, that is what questions all watching Tomlin talk have.. We have had very little if any success in Seattle and how does Tomlin change that? How many times we have seen this team fall on there face when under Tomlin's watch. Two big question, can and does he motivate or get this team into what he sells and his knowledge of talent .

Well, I see the knives are already sharpened to eviscerate Tomlin if we lose a game that most hand penciled in as a loss at the beginning of the season. Ooops, sorry, I used a big word there ... should've said "gut" instead of eviscerate .. ****! I did it again.

Anyway, it would please me to no end to see us win this melee .. errrr ... I mean game.

As administrator of the MT Word of the Week thread I think it's funny as hell and the rest is popcorn if you will, obviously.

I think it's more a matter that Seattle turned out to be not that good this year.

When he retires he really needs to get into politics... he maximizes his opportunity to speak a significant number of words but obviously communicates a minimum number of useful points...

I find it funny and outstanding to tell you the truth... it is far better than Cowher just growling and barking at guys while saying nothing

With Cowher's pressers it was more "How crazy will his sweater be this week?" I think he knew that and rolled with it.

What does that have to do with it? Cowher didn't give away game plans, but he also didn't talk in circular double speak, which is all Tomlin does. He thinks replacing common words with less common ones makes him seem smarter.

He likes to try and use his expansive, useless vocabulary to frustrate/confuse people. You can tell from the reactions here that it works. I think it's amusing. He's like the guy who got a vocabulary calendar for Christmas and tries to incorporate new words every day even if they don't necessarily work. It's one thing he actually knows how to do, let him have at it.

I don't think you remember too much about the Cowher years. One of the big complaints about Cowher WAS how little he said during pressers. Same complaint. Different guy. It's the nature of the job. And, no, I don't really think he cares what anyone thinks about his word usage.

If it offends you so much, write a letter. Maybe if all of you who spend your time worrying about the words used by a football coach during a press conference wrote him a letter, he would change his vocabulary just for you. Or maybe he'd just shrug his shoulders and say ... "Da ****"?

In Mikey's equation "playing well" is not an independent variable, or for that matter a variable at all. It would be an absolute value(debatable) that cancels everything else out.

In other words if you play well pretty much everything else that happens is meaningless.

I think Tomlin is just screwing with people at this point.
