You asked for you got it....Our D is the best it's been in quite some time...

It is exciting to know our Defense can get us back into ANY game these days.......It is amazing what a little more youth & speed can do for a Defense. We now have a few "Ball-Hawks". We also got several studs, T.J. & Minkah head that group. TJ is in the running for Defensive Player of the year IMO. The Minkah trade though at a high cost, at this point is fair value, We got a known stud...Bush leads the team in tackles & has been a very good addition to the D so far, though certainly not stud status as of yet. Bud & Edmunds are able to get away with gambling more because we have several other athletic guys around them now. Bud has been pretty darn good... Haden is his normal steady self back there. And Cam, oh man Cam, he is the GLUE to this D. Cam & TJ are KILLING IT with their constant pressure

But the best thing about our Defense is this....Now when they talk of The Steelers, we are hearing talk about our Defense. The League & the talking heads are starting to take notice.

Our take-aways have been off the charts. 10 INT's & 9 FUM's...We are second in the League in takeaways.

We are very quickly becoming an All-Around Top 10 Defense. Slight adjustments & we can make it to the top 5.

QB's around the League DO NOT WANT TO FACE OUR DEFENSE

Not becoming....,are. NFL.com has them rated tenth.

Sacks = 6th
Takeaways = 2nd
Limit Big Plays (20+) = 7th
Red Zone = 6th

I'd say that's not too bad (courtesy of Alex Kozora).

How odd when we needed a defense and turnovers we had a good offense that would have benefitted. When we had a good offense the defense could not stop anyone. Being a long time Steeler fan I look forward to a defense that should get better and make the difference in games

And getting better since Fitz is now the undisputed leader of that secondary. He is the best ballhawk the Steelers have had since a guy now doing shampoo commercials.

Add in TJ's improving pass rush and Dupree blowing up RB's and TE's and things are looking up.

Stay healthy, Cam.

Still need to fix giving up 3rd and long. If they do, look out.

Yeah, they gave up a 3rd and 14 that made me grit my teeth.

But the next 3rd and long was the play where Watt trapped the ball in Fitzgerald's hand as he tried to throw it away and dropped him for the sack.

They're getting better. I think I saw a stat where they're ranked 13th there.

Miami's offensive game plan yesterday was built around quick passes to negate the Steelers rush, Fitztragic's style of play fitz (yeah, I did that there) well for it and it worked for a while. The rushing attack was negated from the start.

When the D tightened the screws in the short passing area and fitz had to buy time behind a tiring Oline is when their O imploded. Credit goes everywhere, the Dbacks for good coverage, the front line for keep on keeping until they broke that wall, of course Watt being the main force but Heyward gás a great game too. OTOH Bush had a very quiet game, not much of a disruptive presence.

Special mention to Isaiah buggs who showed some late in the game, the kid can be a contributor, maybe Keisel can be his ceiling?

This game they dominated in 3rd down situations in general

The arrow is pointing up, if you will. And things of that nature.

I'm going to have to re-watch the game, but I have a feeling that Bush was on Geiseki(sp?) most of the night. Their TE's did zero damage to us, and we have been know to really struggle with good catching TE's.

Good point. Also, Miami RB's were a big zero in the passing game as well.

Let me repeat - after the 1st quarter, the Steelers defense gave up 129 yards, 0 points, forced 4 turnovers, including 2 picks, and had 4 sacks. Cannot do much better than that.

First off it's the dolphins. Their RBs didn't catch much because they traded their #1 RB before the game. Quick name their starting RB from last night.. Yea, nobody can. His name is Walton and he was with the bungles last year. This is only his 2nd year and he has a grand total of 200 yards... for his entire career. He only has 55 total career carries. He's started 3 games his entire career. He only has 12 rec. on the year.

Next, I don't think Bush guarded Gesicki much because he never tackled him. And they used their TEs to block a lot last night. Again who is Gesicki anyway? Oh, he's a 2nd year player with a grand total of 8 starts in 2 years. He didn't even start last night. The guy has 350 total yards for his career.

I understand that fans are excited but please.. it was the Dolphins. Half the team that started the season for them is gone either by trade or injury. They are young and not very talented. They are obviously coached by a moron as well. He did the same crap Tomlin did just worse when he blitzed right before the half.

Like I said, I know fans love this defense. But understand they are playing against horrible teams. They were hammered by NE. Then Wilson had one of the best passing games you'll see. He was 29 of 35 for 300 yards 3 TDs 0 ints. Then SF. They put up over 430 yards of offense. If not for them just giving the ball away (most weren't forced) there is no telling how many points they score. It's only when they start playing the bungles, SD and now the Dolphins that the defense looks dominant. A combined 3 wins between them.

Sorry they are going to have to show it against better competition for me to start thinking this is some great defense. Luckily for them they play the bungles, AZ, 2 more clown games, Jets and a Bills team that will start falling back to reality.

still LOVE that trade

Are you happy they came back from a 14 point deficit?

Vader you really do have a Dark Side, freaking buzz kill, party pooper. So now you gonna tell me there ain't no Santa? Hey Vader, Is there even a force to be with me?

Vader despite his often negativity has some valid points. The thing is this team is what it is an average team working to get better. They aren't as bad as that team that was blown out by the cheats or as good as the team that looked dominate against the chargers and bungles. The D is still a work in progress despite it's good and bad showings. They are trending in the right direction, but make no mistake about it they have a ways to go to be better than average. Luckily for them they still have half a season to prove themselves. See things to like obviously and some things that cause concern obviously moving forward. I tell yinz finishing .500 would be a fail in my eyes. I am fresh out of buying excuses and simply want results.

Because we got three new DB's from other teams instead of trying to draft our own.

still LOVE that trade

This will go down as the second-best trade in team history, after trading a third-round pick for Bettis.

I like the play calling in last game. Irrespective of Rudolph's struggles they keep on throwing the ball long. If they would have switched to short passes we may get success, but it won't bring the much needed confidence to Rudolph and receivers. Whatever that we lag we need to test that on teams like fins. Next, we are facing Clots and Rams, so there are less chances to make errors.

For me big takeaways from last game.
1. No impact of concussion on Rudolph and he is taking hits even more strongly. After seeing that hit to Rudolph and no response from few mins, I prayed that it should not be another case that we saw two years back. I feel it was a great come back from Rudolph.

2. Our D is real, we are real threat to anybody. We can trust our D. Thanks to Minkah, TJ, Cam etc.

so it's ok for everyone to constantly bring up the record of the teams we've lost to, to justify us being under .500, but it's not ok to bring up the same fact that our defense has dominated some **** teams, but not the better teams? I mean you can only play who is on your schedule, but I hear/see it from fans constantly, well the teams we've lost to are a combined 24-5 or whatever it is, so we aren't that bad.
