So recently we have had many threads that have brought up issues that many of you have with the current state (or lack there of) of this forum. I know activity from Buff and Dave has been a major concern for a lot of you. That along with lack of board up keep, missing features, and just a general lack of excitement that many of you are used to. I have been brought on board to help get this thing moving back in the right direction. Buff and I have had extensive talks over the last 24 hours about where he and I would like to see this board go (with the blessing of Dave) and I am excited to announce that we are going to hopefully have a lot of new things to offer everyone. Hopefully a few big things that will bring fresh blood onto this site. In the next few weeks leading up to the draft we should be able to unveil some of those and start getting things going in the right direction.

First things first though. I am going to try to promote the board through social media as hard as possible. We need to get our name back out there. Some other web sites have an upward of 40,000 twitter followers and that is where we want to go with hopes of redirecting them here. We're currently putting some money into promoting the forum through two social media outlets (FB&Twitter) but we are going to need some help from you guys. So if all of you could please go to our facebook page which is https://www.facebook.com/pages/SteelerNationcom/162338717016 and please make sure you've liked the page. Then could you please go to the invite friends tab and invite some of our Steeler brothers and sisters. Moderators I'm specifically looking at you. WE need you guys especially as you all have been around for a long time here.

As for twitter if you guys have a twitter account could you please follow us at @steelernation33 . Then retweet, and favorite all our posts as much as you possibly fan. Basically this all comes down to popularity and we're losing out to a lot of sites that don't have half of the history.

I'm willing to put everything I have into bringing this site back from the dead and making it again the best damn Steeler forum on the planet. I know Buff echoes those thoughts along with Dave. So I'm challenging you guys that love this site to help us out. You've all have asked for a renovation like this for some time and you're finally going to get it. So lets get to it.

Great start, Justin. Time to liven this place up and put it on the map.

Suggestions and ideas as to how to make the membership experience more beneficial are welcome. I strongly suggest that if you want serious changes, you will give serious input. Thanks
 
I don't go to those other things but my wife does facebook so I'll get her to like it. Also I think there is another Steeler fan in her office I'll have her tell him.
 
I do the Twitter thing to follow the Penguins, so I will follow you today as well. As for the FB thing, well not my bag. However, I will pimp it to all my Steeler faithful who do. Glad to see we are moving forward with this great board!

Good deal Justin. Im not sure any of you know but justin and i ran our own site for years. I hot too busy to keep up on it. My life has slowed down and im willing to step on board to help this site. I have already invited all 500 + of my facebook friends to the site. Justin, consider adding me. Id be glad to help.

Were up about 800 this week. Most have came from the ads campaign were running, though. Good work though. Its been busy today.
 
I think using social media to constantly promote updated news with active threads on the board are a good idea. It keeps those following up with anything current going on with the Steelers and encourages them to join the discussion. Whenever we have good draft or free-agent threads, promoting those may not be a bad idea as well. Although many get tired of them, posting a mock draft from one of our more knowledgeable draft minds on this board will draw attention.

For those of us who don't have the Facebook or the twitter, can you please explain why some folks might use both this forum and those? How does SN.com get better with some of those folks coming here -are they likely to stay as members or just do drive-bys?
 
SF448 - that's a good idea. We will be adding an actual home page that I'm going to be able to link to with updated news. When we get some good threads going on (when there is actual news) we can throw up links to those threads also.

Confluence - The more people that follow or like our different social media sites the more and more others will be likely to stumble across those pages and essentially this forum. When we post news on those sites and the news is shared, liked, or retweeted its like free advertising. Seems weve been overtaken by a lot of sites in general popularity because we've fallen behind in different aspects. We've actually gotten 14 new registered members in the last three days which is pretty good considering the time of year it is. Hopefully with the draft coming up soon we will be adding a distinguished former members draft opinions but its still unclear if he's going to oblige.

And Steve also they will use Twitter and FB for quick news but this would be their ultimate destination to discuss the news.

Lol, that's because we mostly have old people here now. Of course we have fallen behind what these crazy kids are up to. Much like Confluence, my next tweet will be my first tweet.

Nah I don't really think it has anything to do with old people around here. We need to bring new blood in though. When I was in my teens this forum was the best there was and it wasnt even close and that was because of the personalities and doscussion we had. A lot of those people have left and its time to start getting back to being the best site on the net. Those people that have stepped out were a lot of the heart and soul of this board. We hope that we can draw some back eventually.

Dave is very tech savvy and could easily promote the site but lack of interest and time for about 4 years has just left us behind. A lot of members of this site have Facebook, less have Twitter.
 
And if you don't have Facebook or twitter and love this site and hope for it to prosper again we could really use you guys to renew your subscriptions that you've let expire. We could really use the help with paying for things a the well has run dry.

And if you have any problem with getting your donator tag and privileges all you have to do is let me know and we will get it taken care of immediately. It won't go unlooked at like in the past. But give me a chance and a vote of confidence. We would appreciate it.

Adding supe as a Mod was a good move. (cant believe I just said that)

BUT want to make it better.. ? Get rid of the lame *** posters who get banned and change their name and then come back as another name. over and over this happens.... if you need a name Ill give it to you.
 
Great work so far Justin! 14 new members to the site during slow season and a huge spike on our SN.com FB page. The more likes we have, the more active this board will be through osmosis. The site overall will be more active and interactive, and it will be the #1 place to promote and discuss the BnG.
