crybaby thread - scared of tommy boy

The only way to beat the cheaters is to outscore them. This defense isn't going to stop anyone, let alone Brady. The mindset should be to score a TD every possession even if it means going for it on 4th down at times.

Well, here's where I am on this. We will be putting our best 11 out there on defense so at the end of the day we will know for sure what we have with the starters on this defense, period.
I do not think this starting defense is as bad as it looks. I think what we saw is the quality of depth on this defensive football team is really poor since most of this scoring occurred against 2'nd and 3'rd string guys. The depth is poor and we better pick-up some quality depth from the waiver wire.

Offensively, we are going to miss Pouncey for half the season but I think Wallace can fill in adequately. Williams if he can stay healthy will do just fine until Bell returns. Bryant however his loss for 4 games troubles me. I'm just not confidant that DHB or Coates can fill that void.

Kicking game good. Real good. I like Scobee especially kickoffs which will help this defense. Berry should and better replace Wing.

You see, the problem is that the "naysayers" WANT to find something to complain about.

Yes, we won't have Bell, Pouncey or Bryant. Yes, our defense is not the same defense that Coach LeBeau fielded over the past decade. Yes, Troy and the others are gone.

We haven't seen but a "quick blip" of what this defense can do (re: safety for a sack in the GB pre-season game) --- every other game the defense and offense was VANILLA.

So, I choose to believe that Coach Butler will be prepared and so will the first team defense. Of course I expect the P*ts to score points - but, their defense isn't any better than ours as they only have ONE DAMN DB returning from last year. Their LB's are big and mostly slow - run stoppers - so, I expect Ben to have a field day.

We shall see - but, my vision remains positive...
 
I think you should basically take a roughing the passer penalty anytime you can put a real good lick on the QB in the 1st Quarter. Changes how the QB plays the rest of the game.
 
I actually agree. Hit Brady often and worry less about flags. I'm not absolutely saying hit him "dirty". I'm just saying if the whistle blows and you are say 1/4 step away from him, maybe you follow through. Or maybe you don't necessarily ease up on that "planting the QB" thing. Or maybe you don't worry so much about his knees. You're not "trying to hurt him" You're just making no effort whatsoever not to...

We know right now that Goodell is going to be VERY cautious and he's going to do his due diligence before he gives out any fines or hands down any suspensions.

My feeling on this game is that unless it is a complete bloodbath and our offense isn't doing anything, I just won't be concerned. I'm not even sure if any of the SB winning teams have lost on opening night, so the odds are heavily stacked. Just looking for a good offensive output that keeps them in touch in the game and traction toward an improvement by the defense. Gotta show up some on a big stage.

I don't know....If we just give up 7 minute plus drives they shouldn't be able to score to much.
 
I do not fear Brady. If we do not play 10 yards off the ball, that alone will take away 3 TDS that they would have got against the Lebeau scheme...

DL was one of the best DC in the history of the NFL. Nobody knows yet what will happen with Butler's defense but I've seen enough to know they aren't playing press defense.

Also almost no defense plays press all the time. So you're going to be very disappointed if you think this (or any defense) is going to play press with these horrible CBs and DBs.

Every messageboard I have attended throughout the years, bengals, broncos, Pats, they all have people bitching about playing off the man... its staple throughout the league and if you did press every play you would give up a ton of long pass plays when the wr beats it cleanly, which given the same look over and over, they will do from time to time....
 
Also I am not uspet in the least about this... partially cause I thought he would lose, but appeal and get an injunction and play in the first game regardless... I am hoping that by some miracle they hear this case and render a verdict at light speed for that court, which should be like December, and Brady gets to sit the playoffs... delicious irony at its best

I go into every game expecting to win.

I also have this other side that knows

The Steelers are playing:

on the road
without 3 of their 5 stars on O
with two injury prone safeties
A defensive scheme that has been tweaked and probably will have some early hiccups.
against a team that usually comes away with a W


so how can they win?

you have to utilize that short passing game with Heath,Antonio, and Wheaton (control the clock no bombs away football)
the running game will have to be effective
perhaps put a CB on Gronk
the Steelers run D will have to be solid
Sham will have to limit the big yardage gains.
Harrison will need to play more in this game not less.
Dupree should be put in on 3rd down rushing the passer plays opposite Harrison.
Cortez will need to play obviously above the line football.

Odds are against the Steelers.

But I never bet against my team. And every pick'em I have ever played I have never picked against them.

Go Steelers!
 
I fully expect marsha crybrady to hold a press conference before the game to announce the Gieselle took his penis away and he is not allowed to play silly boy games anymore.

Lol. While its somwhat meaningless but he certainly has looked off his golden boy self this PS. I wonder how much the trail will impact his performance.
