Cowher, Coughlin, Gruden to LA?

The article says:

Cowher, 59, still doesn't completely rule out a possible return to the sidelines at some point. He insists there is no reason to close any doors, saying he feels better than ever.

Like I said, never say never. And let's not pretend to know how he thinks either. He might want to make the Hall of Fame. A comeback can do it.

"Sigh"....he has to say that for leverage with his current employer.....

I have no idea who they will hire, but it better be a splash signing.

there's a reason teams leave LA....no one gives a **** about the NFL....too much else to do.

but the networks want that #2 market share, baby.

Rex would be perfect....AND his brother.

the freak show alone would buy them 2 years to hope an OC can make Goff into something.

Hasn't Cowher said he has had some NFL people calling him before? Other X NFL coaches working in the media don't seem to use that leverage with their current employer, perhaps because they aren't receiving any calls from the NFL.

Cowher could be waiting for the right time. Dick Vermil came back, and he said he was through, correct?

What other "X NFL coaches working" are you referring to? Jimmy Johnson has a contract with Fox because all he asked was latitude in regards to being on location outside of the studio. He's made his fortune 10 times over with investments from Miami Univ, and Dallas coffers. Being good friends with the Murdoch's helped there. He doesn't need the money and enjoys fishing off his huge yacht in Miami and LA.

Ditka? Parcells? They are not interested in either anymore. They are happy to provide periodical appearances to keep relevant. Ditka so as to promote his causes for golden age retired players.

As for Dick Vermil, after Philly, he was burnt out and was on a sabbatical from coaching until he was ready. He also did game broadcasts, not pre-game/halftime/post game analysis which is what Chin does. He has the perfect set up, and he know it. But in business, you always keep your options open, that includes letting the bosses know "you need me more than I need you".

The NFL has no leverage in L.A. Market. The city has other forms of entertainment and people there are established fans of other teams. Steelers and Cowboys bars are common. I can see a splash signing just to try to bolster interest. Just can't see Cowher going back into coaching. When it comes to football USC is the team. Famous alumni, tradition etc.

Cowher has teams contact him every season

I saw a lot of media outlets reporting Jim Harbaugh would be their guy.

I can't see him leaving Michigan for that **** show.

But it would give Harbaugh an excellent opportunity to **** the 9'ers for letting him go. Same division and 2 times each season to rub their faces in it. He might do it for that alone.

Maybe. Chances of Crappernick going to the Rams as well. Plenty of NFL drama to draw in the fans

Brian Billick. He's said he'd like to coach again, but they want young and cheap and I'm neither. He did not apply leverage to his media employer.

Cowher wants zero news or speculation. If he really wanted leverage, don't you think he would have taken one interview? Now that would be leverage!

I'm thinking Josh McDaniels or Marvin Lewis after he gets canned.

Brian Billick is not a centerpiece to an actual Network coverage. He does what Ditka and Tuna does, albeit more frequently. Cowher's agent does the talking. Only he and CBS knows what they are saying to each other. Chin has teams contacting him every, EVERY year.
