Good thing we stayed put. Next year we're going to have the LAST pick of the first round.
Well. I don't know if this is true but when your secondary is your Achilles (popular consensus) preventing your team from getting deeper in the playoffs, and the player you want to draft is waiting for his name to be called, you have to use your pick on that guy. Those are the risks you have to take.
The Chiefs called. Said they’d trade from 28 to 34 but only if Dallas included its three, not the four. No dice. Bengals picked cornerback William Jackson III. Steelers up. Pittsburgh never considered trading at No. 25 and made a pick quickly: cornerback Artie Burns.
I heard on one of the radio shows yesterday the Browns were desperate to get back into the first round and offered Pittsburgh the rest of their available draft picks (#32, #65, #77, #99, #141, #176, #223) as well as next year's 1st and 2nd round picks along with OT Joe Thomas, DT Danny Shelton and CB Joe Haden. Supposedly, Colbert hung up the phone saying, 'Artie Burns is our guy, we will pick him at #25, come hell or high water.'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was disappointed that his team was unable to trade up and draft Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch, reports Peter King of Sports Illustrated.
According to King, the Cowboys attempted to swap picks with the Seattle Seahawks to move up to the No. 26 spot and take Lynch, but would not meet Seattle’s asking price of a second- and third-round pick. Dallas instead offered a second- and fourth-round pick for the chance to grab Lynch.
The Seahawks eventually traded the pick to the Denver Broncos, who drafted Lynch.
“I’m not gonna go jump from Dallas’s tallest, so let’s put this in perspective,” Jones said the next day. “And I live with second-guessing and disappointments. That’s a part of this business. But if I had to do it all over again? I’d give the three.”
Oh, and lest ye forget...

No way that rumor from David Todd is true. Jones already said he regretted not moving up and knows he should have overpaid.
i don't know what may have been offered but it's clear that the steelers cut themselves out of discussions by turning in the card that quickly. If they are that sold on a player then i can see turning in the card quickly. But i find it hard to believe that nearly every year, the steelers are drafting their dream prospect so there is no need for any discussion.

I'll say this again - not one of us get paid for our analysis or input in drafting players or making decisions or choices for the Steelers during the Draft. That being said, sit back, relax, and let's see how this all pans out - you might just be pleasantly surprised...

Lack of debate is the death of internet message boards. I encourage all members to express their opinions.
It should be welcomed by all. Celebrated and encouraged. Never discouraged.
U sure bro? I think this would be a livelier board if everyone shut up and stopped talking about the Steelers
except for Elfie. **** that guy/girl/it
I would of passed too. Dallas will be good and that will be a low first round pick..
We could have taken Howard, who is more proven than Burns, and a safer pick even if he lacked the top-end upside.
Xavien Howard
A raw corner who commits too many penalties and takes too many gambles, Howard might not be ready to start, but the Dolphins do not have much choice.

Dallas will be picking before pick #25 next year. The defense is terrible and Romo is injury prone. So I'll take two #1's picks, over our pick #25. Moron move by Colbert . Should have done it We could have taken Howard, who is more proven than Burns, and a safer pick even if he lacked the top-end upside.
Sounds like a brilliant idea. Too bad we have Colbert, and not you, calling the shots.
