I haven't seen this online anywhere so i don't have a link, but on the radio David Todd said several times that Cowboys said they offered the Steelers this year's 34th pick (R2 pick 3) and next year's first round pick to get the Steelers #25 and a 7th rounder.

The Steelers turned their card in too quick to make the deal.

Now I like the Burns pick, but ****, a first round pick to move down 9 picks? That should have been a no brainer.

At pick 34, steelers could have drafted CBs Xavien Howard (who is 6ft tall like Burns) or Mackensie Alexander. They also could have had Noah Spence, or maybe even Myles Jack. Supposedly, teams had more info on Jack heading into round 2 so maybe the steelers roll those dice.

More stupidity from T0omlin and Colbert and their incessant habit of running up to the podium with 9 minutes left on the clock each year.

I keep telling you guys the rooneys don't like trading out of the first round.. period... it used to happen with regularity before Dan took over and he doesn't want to go without a first rounder every year... They just don't entertain it at all.... I know its just a few picks, but they don't like doing it

How can the steelers turn their card in to quick to make the deal if they already knew they weren't taking it?

It is one thing to say they turned down the deal but to say they turned in their card too quick to make the deal is a stretch.

Colbert said trading back wasn't an option, Artie Burns was their guy.

Now you can argue whether or not they should have taken the trade but stating they turned in the pick to soon to make the deal is just inflammatory.

If that trade offer was true that was a pretty attractive offer.

and besides.........this kind of stuff never happens.......the draft plays out exactly the way it is supposed to play out every time.

All trade offers are agreed to prior to the NFL Draft.

They should take phones out of the WarRooms......they are not needed.

Well Dallas' next year's #1 pick has a second round value. I wonder what the points all come out too?

Also Colbert has stated numerous times Burns was their guy they wanted. I know a lot think it was Jackson3 but I think it was Burns all along.

I wanted them to trade up. Would have been pissed if they traded down.

If this is true Colbert needs to be fired and Tomlin needs to have absolutely nothing to do with the teams draft. I really hope this is a false statement.

there are no reports of this anywhere i can find. the only stories I see are they offered Seattle the 2nd and 4th round picks, Seattle wanted 2nd and 3rd and Dallas wouldn't do it.

Colbert was on Sirius XM Channel 88 (NFL Radio) yesterday in the 4:00pm hour and confirmed this. He also said there were several trade offers (plural) for them to move down.

and Jerry Jones his own damn self has said the deal was low-balling and is digusted with himself for not offering MORE.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was disappointed that his team was unable to trade up and draft Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch, reports Peter King of Sports Illustrated.

According to King, the Cowboys attempted to swap picks with the Seattle Seahawks to move up to the No. 26 spot and take Lynch, but would not meet Seattle’s asking price of a second- and third-round pick. Dallas instead offered a second- and fourth-round pick for the chance to grab Lynch.

The Seahawks eventually traded the pick to the Denver Broncos, who drafted Lynch.

“I’m not gonna go jump from Dallas’s tallest, so let’s put this in perspective,” Jones said the next day. “And I live with second-guessing and disappointments. That’s a part of this business. But if I had to do it all over again? I’d give the three.”

Lol. Best draft grade since he has been our GM. Yep. Fire him.

It sounds like Jerry could've offered their entire offensive line and Tomlin and Colbert wouldn't have taken it. Artie Burns has some added pressure on him to succeed if they passed up that kind of offer just to take him. I would've taken a future 1st to move down 9 spots in a heart beat. Hell, you could use that future first to trade for a proven starting corner and not have to wait for the "raw" Burns to develop.

I'll say this again - not one of us get paid for our analysis or input in drafting players or making decisions or choices for the Steelers during the Draft. That being said, sit back, relax, and let's see how this all pans out - you might just be pleasantly surprised...

I would of passed too. Dallas will be good and that will be a low first round pick..

You drinking already?

Seriously, I don't think I'd take the trade on the possibility it is a high pick because Romo might get hurt and the team is screwed.

quoted for truth.
do we need to keep requoting Coolie?

Well. I don't know if this is true but when your secondary is your Achilles (popular consensus) preventing your team from getting deeper in the playoffs, and the player you want to draft is waiting for his name to be called, you have to use your pick on that guy. Those are the risks you have to take.

Everything I have read doesn't have this out there as a trade rumor. THANK GOD.
