Could Byron Murphy Solve Pittsburgh’s Cornerback Woes?

For me we need a corner who will generate turnovers. I like Greedy Williams because of this fact and he frees our safeties to be more aggressive in man coverage. I would double up with a corner in the later rounds.\

a cornerback is supposed to cover the wr's and keep them from catching passes, that's what Williams does best, run support is secondary and in the NFL pass happy era, there aren't many teams that just line up and pound the ball anymore. Not saying Id take Williams over Bush, but if Bush is gone, I'd strongly consider it, did anyone else see us try to cover Keenan Allen with a ******* ILB? Has anyone else seen how piss poor our 4th quarter defense is when teams just start throwing the ball all over the place? Guys like Glennon, Gradkowski, Keenum, Carr, Hundley, Bortles, I'm sure there are 10 others, suddenly look like Montana throwing all over the Aints.

murphy as is most pac 10 players very over rated. David long Michigan in the second round way better player way better value. daft Murphy and you can put him next to burns as monuments to stupidity in drafting over rated dbs.

I agree so does WIKEPEDIA Cornerback- The chief responsibility of the cornerback is to defend against the offense's pass.

That said there are other responsibilities to making a great corner http://www.greatcornerback.com/cornerback-technique-mechanics.html

But man, we need a freaking shut down corner IF we go corner at 1.....I think Greedy is just that. His mentality is off the chain too. Dude wants to be the best....When it comes down to being a lock down defender, Greedy is very Greedy

Let's put an end to this argument. If you don't play serious man coverage you don't need a shutdown corner. And as we can see with Burns, there can be a difficulty for a man cover corner playing zone. And then at the same time, why would you take a zone corner in the first round when they are not coveted there. They have a high third they could use on that type of player. So just don't take a corner round one. Go get a war daddy linebacker, DL or if the offensive weapon you want falls to you be it a TE or WR.

The Steelers signed Steven Nelson in case anyone didn't get the memo, who's an upgrade over Burns. So there's no reason to reach for Murphy at 20, even if the Devins are gone there will still be much better value at 20 in other positions. And I still think one of the Devins will slip to the mid teens where he'll be in reach for a not so costly trade up.

The Steelers played the third-most man coverage in the NFL last season.

This is how it ended....Four 4th Quarter leads given away because we couldn't shut down anybody and their passing game...Nothing is ended

Nothing is ended...You created a turnover....Good job

I wouldn't have placed the Steelers at that amount of man coverage. Hell you barely saw the safeties in the picture unless a team went deep down the middle. Frankly, I don't ever remember the Steelers ending game with big coverage. More like big pressure. In those loses the defense just couldn't get the qb off the spot. I'd still rather get a big pass rush player round one.

This is gonna be a FUN DRAFT....Our board has so many different ideas on how to go with this #1 it is really kinda cool....Man, we should have gotten a late #1 for AB....Sorry guys, it is in the past....BUT FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK we could use one more #1

ahhhhh,, there it is!!!

Why do we keep talking about this Dipshit? Can the MODS PLEASE put something similar for either the name Antonio Brown or AB similar to when someone writes Super Bowl here on the Forum? When either of those pops up the Forum his name would automatically just put Antonio ***** Backwards???

The only difference is this year we might have the choice of the top cornerback or safety in the draft. Past years,it seems like we take a chance on a guy after 3-5 guys have already been drafted. If the top ILB guys are gone,I really hope they go this route. I would have to look ,but when was the last time in a draft that the top DB never got drafted till 20th? Is it really that ****** of a year for this position?

By the way.....would you guys trade our 2 thirds for a top 2nd? If someone slipped?

if we cant find an impact guy at #20, i dont see us finding one at the top of the second. not for the cost of our 3rd rounders. imo, too many areas need to be addressed to trade away an early picks

What if we got that big *** DT from Clemson.. cant remember name. Would you go for it.? As an NT.

The really big dude had a PED suspension during the college bowl playoffs. The other one is ranked top 10. If Lawrence (I believe) checked out on the PED deal as some kind of minor issue like a supplement misunderstanding I would consider.

Taking greedy that is a man cover corner and putting him in zone D is exactly what Burns is ! Why do it again?
