We have not had a #3 receiver step up so far, so you could see Connor stay in the backfield and Bell take over
the #3 receiver role. It would make particular sense against Browns and Ravens since it's easier to be in football
shape as receiver than RB. Maybe the Bell holdout will end up as a blessing since it allowed another weapon to
emerge in Connor.

The only reason bell was a threat at receiver was because he lined up in the RB position. If he is lined up as a continual #3 spot he will dissatisfying immensely. He has little speed.

His yards per catch rank somewhere in triple digits. However, it would be funny to watch his "I'm a receiver" claim crash and burn before free agency.

Swtizer would disagree, but I do agree, I'd love to see Conner and Bell together on the field. Wow!

If both lined up in the backfield as the usual set. Then motion or occasionally WR set. I'm sure if BELL was in prime BELL shape this would be awesome........

I am ok with him as a third down back as Sask mentioned in another thread.

Also being a part timer (if he isn't traded) I would like to see him on ST's.

They say that is what backups need to be able to do.

It would be incredibly easy. On first down you come out two wide, one TE and two backs. Split or I. you can run deceptive runs like split dives and counters. Things that hold the LB up. Then you can force linebacker coverage by flexing one out against whatever package they present. You could even go empty. both of them can catch. The only problem is that this team has never showed that type of offensive creativity. So my guess is they will bring Bell in slowly and he will become the every down back which is the worst thing to do.

What most likely will happen Cool Shades inserts LevBell and “runs the wheels off”. He’s not smart enough to understand utilizing both their talents. Connor will most likely languish on the bench with the occasional carry.

UNFORTUNATELY this is very likely to happen. The worse thing the STEELERS could do is become dependent on Mr. Bell. I say keep the distance and sign / trade (if before deadline), otherwise use him in "surprise" packages and ST too. ****, the season will be near OVER before BELL is even in game shape enough to contribute heavily. For those of you who think he is going to show up in "banging football shape" have another thing comming as I'd be surprised if he is in GREAT work-out condition hence showing up.

And, no one from the Steelers has even heard from Mr. Bell. Who knows if he shows up during the by week. Doesn’t make sense that he would and risk injury. Why not wait until week 11 and just make yourself eligible for the remaining 6 games. Guys all over the board.

Sure, Bell could block for Conner.

he's coming in before trade deadline.
leads me to believe that there must be some handshake agreement in the works.

now that Ajayi is out for the year, specualtion at PMSPN has shown the Eagles need a RB. Of course, they slot Bell to Philly via trade. Though Stephen A Smith (**** him) says the Eagles should trade for McCoy, due to the contract status of a lot of their players. Which is hard to disagree with. Trading for McCoy would be a nice move for them.

and us.

McCoy to Philly
Bell to Buffalo

beautiful

oh, if Bell comes back and is in any other role BUT starting RB, he's not going to give the 70-80% we'd see in this contract/franchise year since he's already said he's looking to lessen the impact on his body and is preparing for next season.

What are you thinking we would get from the Bills? A third round pick? I’d like their second round pick but their third wouldn’t be too bad since it would be early third.

He has to return to his primary role. This nonsense about putting him on ST is ridiculous. It ain’t happening. He gets slotted right back into his spot.

Cope, the Bills are pretty ******* stupid. I hope they play stupid one more time.

Oh, btw, ran into a great Myron Cope impersonator at Heinz Field Sunday. Dressed up like Myron and sounded just like him.

I have to meet that guy! Wow!! Awesome!

They should have a package with both in the backfield. Most defenses would keep their base defense on the field and that means a LB covering Bell. If they show nickel, then the steelers have the advantage running.

All i care about it the steelers winning. Bell is better than Conner. He's a much better blocker and receiver. As soon as he's in shape and ready, i give him the majority of snaps.

I think they wanted to split carries last year but Conner was so poor as a blocker that they couldn't really play him that much. If conner was in, it tipped that the steelers were running. He's at least become adequate as a blocker so now he can split reps without tipping their hand.

I'm thinking at least 60/40 Bell and increase it as needed.
