Please give me one reason he would want to go there when he could go anywhere? Philly and Colts are at the top of his list.
Sunny Miami or San Francisco wouldn't be bad either. If Jeff Fisher is out in St. Louis, Coughlin would probably get a look.

No way Coughlin is taking on the Browns mess at this stage. Great coach passed his shelf life at least in NY. Good luck coach. Cowher is done in my opinion, but that is the one job that could dangle him back.
Half of this board would take him.lol
I've always liked him. He didn't do too shabby at NYG. Philly seems like the perfect place for him. They need stability.

No self respecting coach is going to the clowns. I like Coughlin simply because he beat the pats**** twice in the SB. They'd have 6 trophies if not for Coughlin. If he's run his course then good luck to him.

Don't laugh. If the Bengals lose this weekend, I could see Lewis who's deal expires in 2016 being axed with Coughlin taking over. Coughlin is a winner in the playoffs. Lewis is not. It makes sense to me.
To me Coughlin seems like a guy that wants to spend some time getting to know his grandkids. He'll be 70 before next season and he's already got the rings. He took down Belicheat twice --- what else does he have to prove? I think he's ready to walk away. There is no chance at all that he would go to the Browns. The Giants are a first-class organization...

I've always thought he'll coach again, a la Vermeil.
This job is tailor-made for him - big money, biggest market, he wouldn't have to move.
If he doesn't take this job, or go to the Eagles, then he really is done.

I used to think Cowher would coach again, but too much time has passed.
Vermeil was gone for 16 years. Cowher, about half that. And the job he has now keeps him very close to the sport.
He can always go back to CBS, or some other TV job, if he misses it.
But he's a coach. And coaches coach.

Cowher's job does not keep him close to the sport. He watches a couple games per week from a studio in NYC and spouts nonsense like every other talking head. Pretty nice work if you can get it.

No way Coughlin would take the Cleveland job. I think he would stay away from the job in Philly, too. Both of those teams have roster issues and by the time Coughlin could get that turned around he'd be approaching 72 to 73 years old.
I could see Coughlin taking the job in Indy (if Pagano is fired,) Miami, or Tennessee if offered. Two of the three have young QBs that he could try to develop, and Miami seems to have a stout defense to work with.
But as someone approaching 70, I can't imagine Coughlin wanting to have to take on a total rebuilding process with a cupboard that is, essential, totally bare.

Coughlin's tenure at the Giants has shown him how an excellent organization is run. Much like our Steeler organization. I know we like to vent about our team, but admit it, we certainly have been spoiled by their success... No way would Coughlin, who has saw excellence first hand, subject himself to that Staph infected, "Factory of sadness". A.K.A. THE Cleveland Browns. baaawwaahh...
