Well, one thing I'd like to say is that not all of us "new guys" are ********. However, some of the "old guard" have developed the habit of attacking new posters as soon as they do anything other than agree with that "old guard's" opinion. That isn't the way to keep the board growing and encourage intelligent dialogue.
Now, I'm not using that as an excuse for some of the arguments I've gotten into. What I am saying however is that some of the newer people come on this board to talk about Steelers football and to read the opinions of others about the same. If they seem a little less knowledgeable about football in general, and the Steelers in particular, take the time to educate them before attacking them. I mean most people are more willing to have an intelligent conversation and learn or at least listen if you don't start off by calling them a dumb ***, etc. etc.
At times it seemed to me as a newer guy that when responding to the attacks of an "old guard" guy, I was told to "knock it off" and threatened with the "ban hammer" when it wasn't me who started with the personal attacks, etc. Especially if that old guard person happened to be espousing a position taken by the moderator threatening the ban.
I also realize that there are those in both the "new guys" and "old guard" groupings that are just incorrigible and only come on here to tell others how stupid they are for not agreeing with them, and to "win the internet". So ban them.
