i'll admit...back before the SteelerWatch merger...i was mainly a reader of other peoples opinions...only able to watch Steeler games when they were carried on my local channels...and then about the time of the merger and for quite a few years after i started getting into the draft...watching more college games...watching more college players...at one point i was really into it...but over the last several years...basically since i got burned out with SN...i got burned out with everything other than just watching the games...and i actually enjoyed it...it was nice not listening to 100 people talking about how so-and-so should die...and how this other guy was the worst at his position since the inception of leather helmets...i watched the games...i enjoyed the wins...i hated the losses...but i got away from the constant critique that i had gotten used to...not just from others...but from myself also...and i enjoyed my sundays/mondays/thursdays...maybe through ignorance...maybe through blindness...maybe through brand new rose colored glasses...whatever you want to call it...but i ENJOYED watching the Steelers again...of course i got angry when someone blew a play...of course i got frustrated when i knew what play was going to be called...but by god i was actually WATCHING every game...something that i'd never been able to do in the 80s-90s and even part of the 00s...something i didn't really get to enjoy EVER growing up...the ability to actually WATCH a Steelers game...other than a prime-time game...other than when the Chiefs/Rams/Cowboys were all on bye week...something i'd forgotten i now had access to but had started to take for granted...all while getting more and more into the dissection and critique of the team...

i'm back...and i'm looking forward to the opinions of several of the members of SN that i've always respected...and i'm sure to learn from some of the newer members too...i've always loved the wealth of information we've had here...i just hope i don't get mired back down into the dregs of asinine hate again also...

i shall continue your learnings, young sluawan

I always knew, Slu respected me.

Dude, man said about people he "respected"......

But I'm sure he'll humor you

Im finding my passion/interest in the game waning over the last few years. Some of Goodell's leadership has just plain pissed me off. The officiating has pissed me off. Very much not a conspiracy theorist, but damned if something doesnt crop up once a season to make even the most reasonable person go "hmmm maybe".

But since we are confessing, I have watched every episode of Coaching Bad with Ray Lewis. Dont judge me.

Its been a few brutal years. If Roger Goodell would get fired, I could recover.

this site is pure hell after a loss....and can even suck after a win.....

game threads are hilariously stupid.....any bad play and the game is over and the Steelers suck......they get down a field goal in the first quarter and they might as well head to the locker room and shower up

No matter how bad this place is after a loss, it is 1000x better than a FB or Twitter page or another message board.

Good to see you back, Slu.

you mean there are other message boards????

If you're into dust balls and cobwebs

This is funny because it's true. I just went and checked on a board I used to visit and they haven't had a post since March 31. The next most recent was March 27. Then the 20th and 13th. That's the epitome of a dead board. I couldn't even begin to imagine this board with only 4 posts in 3 weeks.

You beat me to it. I don't really join the Game Day threads anymore - incessant whining and moaning about this and that irks me...complaints when we win (because it wasn't a perfect game - there were some who criticized the offense after back to back 6 TD games), complaints when we lose...

Oh well.

At least the Fam is getting back together!!!

I usually hop on the game day thread after the game and try and guess what some of the negative posters were going to write. you would be shocked at how close I could guess.

I absolutely love this place. I read when I can, what I can, and even contribute some good / bad / hilarious / ect. S-T-U-F-F. A very diverse group and that is what keeps it interesting.. Not everybody knows all, but all is known.

Thanks to the many herte who kjee it interesting

Salute the nation

I guess as Ive gotten older Ive become less bothered but it really comes down to this, you could always be a fan of another team.

This place is priceless and I wouldn't have it any other way. Of course as we all have opinions like we all have ******** and those opinions are always correct. I especially like the threads when the topic is suddenly changed to Tomlin sucks and here's why. Of course the original topic had nothing to do with Tomlin but he somehow gets sucked in. I love those. And there are the threads that we've won with Cowher's players but that's about to out live its shelf life since almost all of those guys are gone now except for Ben, Heath and James. What will we do without those posts. Last but not least the name calling and bickering back and forth. "Moron, idiot, dumb ***", etc. Got to have those. Someone said this place is pure hell after a loss or when the team makes bad plays. Of course! That's being a true Steeler fan. We hate to lose and it sure as hell shows after every loss or bad play. We're all GM's and Head Coaches at times. Its only natural when you have such a passionate fan base such as this one. I remember in the 70's when I was still living back home in Pittsburgh working in the city downtown and you could always tell what the Steelers did that Sunday just by the mood of the city that Monday. Hell, you didn't need to watch the game Sunday, listen to the radio or pick up a newspaper. Just look at the faces and the mood that Monday and you knew. Its the same here on this board. People are very passionate about the team and we get frustrated and upset at the decisions they make like they're supposed to get our approval or something. Hell I get that way all the time.

All in all I still love this place and will continue to be a donator with posts and money to keep this baby afloat. Lets us proceed gentlemen and ladies.

I am finding I have less interest in sports as the years pass. At frst, I thought it was my age. Then I realized, all the teams in Pittsburgh kinda suck right now. Easier to watch when they are winning.

Couple things.
Non-donators will be locked out on game day.
The fam being back together will help elimate the idiots. When you get ten people calling you an *******, embarressing you, then laughing at you they tend to run away with their tail between their legs. Last few years its been a few idiots trolling against on person and no one backs up the legitimate poster.

Things are a changing..

No offfense but that's like predicting a number between "1" and "1"

lol I guess you are right but it is fun to read the post without looking at who the poster is and then guess who wrote it.

We have between 250-350 posts a day. Hit 500 a couple times last month.
