Do we all think there needs to be some competition for him? Dan Williams is available and could provide that. I know we don't use a true NT that often anymore...but it's just an idea.

Why not. Bring him in.

It's just an idea...my guess is we see hoe bug Dan looks in training camp. Williams would be a nice addition though and would fit the pure 3-4 NT, although they aren't used as much anymore.

I think they have hopes for Walton to be a contributor because besides Alualu and him there isn't any depth

Could be right Litos. I'm just in that win no mode and want to fill in gaps with solid vets....possibly even at corner. Ben isn't playing forever and we need to win now.

And Hargrave. The front 3 doesn't include Big Dan. It is Heyward, Hargrave and Tuitt. Big Dan is a back up if he even makes the team this year.

we all here mean to bring competition for the backup spot that McCullers holds with no competition. Of course Hargrave is a starter

I think the Alualu signing has gone way under the radar. He seems like the perfect plug & play guy all along that D-line to bring in off the bench. I'm not sure where Tree Shade McCullers fits in at this point. Most likely, he and Walton will be competing for a hat on Sundays. I also hope McCullers will continue to show improvement having been in the program for a few years now. If anyone it's coach Mitchell that will get the most out of him.

McCullers is one of those mysteries that a lot of us will never figure out. It's like, if we had that size and strength, we'd damn near kill somebody. In my youth I would get all intense over a 2 on 2 pickup basketball game. I just can't figure out why a guy like McCullers plays so small. But it will never make sense, just like McCullers, if he hasn't shown anything by now, never will. He just doesn't have the drive, desire, intensity to be anything more than just a big body out there. I wish they'd sign anybody so I don't have to look at the guy get off the ball 3 seconds after it is snapped anymore.

The DL depth is pretty solid now

DE Heyward, Tuitt, Alualu, Walton
NT Hargrave, McCullors

That's a really good rotation. Alualu is a solid player and so was Walton last year.

I do wish though that we had at least 1 run stuffing NT. Hargrave is good but he's more of a quickness guy. That's good because the NFL is such a passing league now, but it appears it is starting to tilt back a bit to the run game as we've seen with the high RB picks. I'd like to have one guy who is just a rock in the middle for obvious run situations.

They didn't draft any DL so unless there is a free agent signing, it looks like these 6 are set on the DL.

McCullors has always been a tease. Every so often he blows up a play and it just makes you wonder why he can't do that more often. Especially when he's not playing that many snaps.

When Big Dan first became noticed he had the appearance and yes the play to get us to think he was a beast. One problem was his stamina, he lost some weight thinking it would help with that. I think it made him more prone to being handle easier. Either way he isn't as dominant as I'd like to see in a NT. Bring in WILLIAMS and have a LOOKsie............. Can't hurt plus it shows a little push to the position.

Salute the nation

Isn't Dan Williams damaged goods with multiple serious injuries past few years?

You're right about the rotation. While you'd always like to see better depth, it's hard to find affordable talent that will be an upgrade.
