Colts May Be Interested iIn Dobbs

if we got a 4th, it would be better than the spot used for him, right?

As I mentioned in another thread and someone here said, it would be kind of nice to have someone with his brains on the side line helping the QB's with what happened on recent drives, looking over the breakdown of the pictures.

I didn't see anything in that article that would leave me to believe that the colts are actually interested in Dobbs. looks like another reporter throwing **** against the wall to see what sticks. lots of the "Colts Could use, the Colts should be." I would love to see Dobbs do well anywhere he is a good kid.

Exactly...

Eagles and Pats know how to build tradable commodities at QB. Steelers could just be starting up. I know we tried to get something for Landry, but no one bit. Dobbs is better than Landry.
Landry just wasn't that good. Serviceable backup but no upside. He is xfl now.

Dobbs is intriguing due to smarts, personality, and athleticism. Lack of accuracy is his issue. Just like baseball, you toss 100mph of gas but if you can't throw strikes you are not gonna be on the bump.

the game Thursday night will be Dobbs' interview for the Colts.

Let's hope he goes 24-24 for 350 yds, 4 TDs and 0 INTs while running for 78 and a score

Not sure why everyone gets down on a guy like this who clearly hasn't gotten an opportunity to settle in and actually play consistently. He has a unique skill set that needs to play. He is NOT A BACK UP QUALITY. He needs to play

Dobbs is stuck here in PGH. He goes to INDY & he will eventually get on the field and have some spectacular games and a few erratic games, but will be interesting to watch. He will figure it out if given the opportunity to play

He isn't gonna play here, so get him a chance to play. But he will have some games where Steeler Nation will be like wow, we had that? And we will get a 5th or 6th for him, that's about it.

He will throw for about 225 per game and run for another 50-60 per....The only way Dobbs will ever reach his potential is to get on the field and play.

Let him go....

I want Dobbs to light it up to increase his value because based on his numbers this preseason he has not looked like an NFL QB so we would be able to get a 6 of IC Light and potentially a small bag of cool ranch Doritos in return.

Dobbs: 28 attempts, 54%, 0 TDs / 2 INTs, he did have 59yds rushing but they resulted in 0 TDs. He is not locking on to WRs like before but the passes have been erratic - some on the mark and others so bad they could not be picked off.

For comparison:

Rudolph: 32 attempts, 66%, 3 TDs / 1 INT. The INT was fugly but it was a bad read by the WR.

So, what you are saying is that if he gets to PLAY,............... he will be gooder?

I hear what you are saying but I'm willing to take the risk of reward for his trade. A 5th with a conditional 4th would be what I'd hope to get but would settle for a 5th or a 6th with conditional 5th.

Salute the nation

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying...Guys like this, with wheels & a semi decent arm have to play and make mistakes & figure it out. Plus he is cerebral as ****. I think he would figure it out...He'll never get the opportunity here.

My opinion is he would be a better starter by far, than he ever will be as a back up....

Dobbs is better than Landry.

ha ha

Just say no to Kordell II

He's got a terrible completion percentage, he's not a thrower, too many unforced error clunkers. We need a real QB that can stand in the pocket, find and hit his secondary targets, not a gimmick runner that bolts every other play.

Yet K2 still beat out Laundry last preseason.

I liked Dobbs' progression. He got better every year, and made LJ expendable last year. This year though, he regressed, HARD. That and paired with Rudolf, who always looks calm, cool, and collected, Mason should have the inside track to being active on gameday.

Honestly, this is actually the first year in forever, where if Ben goes down, I feel like the offense can still move the football. Going to be a fun year boys an girls!!

K2 beat out LJ last year. Now he's about to get beat out. It took Jones 4 years to get beat out. It took K2 all of 2 seasons. Fact is Dobbs is a good guy but he isn't a good QB. I'd be shocked if anyone traded for him. But I'm good with trading him.

The Colts will probably suck and get some good draft picks. Maybe they can get a better runner and passer in Tua next draft and not give up anything? Dobbs isn't a long term answer for any team IMHO. Playing him more isn't going to help.

You can’t be serious. Bridgewater sucked before the leg injury. Dobbs is already better than Bridgewater.

Yes, how can a guy that has a 17-12 record with 64.5% passer rating with 29 Tds and 22 ints compare to a guy that has never started an NFL game and has a 50% passer rating with 0 Tds and 1 int?

Heading to last preseason game, and we're talking about bogus trades for our #2/3 qb. Coach makes better threads than this and he's an asshat.

Let me explain why this is totally logical

1. Barring a really amazing last game, Dobbs is losing the 2 spot to Rudolph, who has more long term potential anyhow
2. Hodges has absolutely played well enough to warrent a third QB spot
3. Dobbs is probably not a long term starter, but he is extremely intelligent and athletic and had all the traits of an ideal #2
4. Nfl teams often only carry two QBs these days... there are never enough practice snaps for four, so hodges to the PS would only stunt his growth unless one of the backup qbs was gone.
5. The third qb spot is best used either on an experienced Vet who needs little on field practice or a developmental qb that needs to work on the mental stuff more than timing and advanced reads. Dobbs is sort of in between... not experienced enough to not get a lot of field practice time and not really raw enough to need to work on the nfl basics... the three spot really wastes him at this juncture of his career

The colts need a number two type. Dobbs has more experience and is highly intelligent so he would fit what they need pretty well for a mediocre cost

Basically if the Steelers are convinced that Rudolph is legit ready and that hodges is worth a spot, dealing Dobbs actually makes a lot of sense

Using that scenario, why wouldn't the Colts just wait another 4 days and see who gets cut?
