College Football Week 9

The Vols opened up a can on SC. With their remaining schedule looking favorable, can we say Liberty Bowl?!?! LOL

Good win for PSU against a team that usually gives them fits. Freiermuth is turning into a monster TE...might he even be better than Gesicki? Not a fan of the running back by committee and still no #2 WR.

Agree with everything there. None of the RB's can get any kind of rhythm. I was shocked PSU wasn't using Freiermuth much in the first couple games. Now, he is back to form and even better than last year. Dude is still just a sophomore.

That, and they have better players.

LOL...that and the fact that almost 99% of their players are 4 or 5 star recruits. I give them credit for building that culture but c'mon....they should never lose to a 1-6 team. Based on the link below, the only 3 star recruit they put on the team is a kicker....all others are 4-5 star. They play the Western Carolina Catamounts on 23 Nov.....think they have a chance?

You obviously missed what I posted above. Sure, they are all 4-5 star players, but Saban doesn’t let them slack. He keeps them focused and on target.

In another post, I mentioned that their schedule is weak as ****, and that’s why LSU should be #1. LSU has beaten three top 10 teams. Alabama has played one ranked team all season.

You don’t have to convince me that their schedule is weak or the team is stacked with great players. But they have a high standard and discipline and you need that as much as talent.

Freiermuth also tied Gesicki’s school record for TD by a TE at 15.

I take back thinking Ohio State was overrated, but watchin ND get mulled I say it has been once more proven that every year they have been in top ten was by to much hype for a name brand that has its own TV station as well as category on NBC football talk and to much publicity by the so called sports annalist talk shows. Watching Oregon in what was a real great game you also get that none of the west teams will ever be considered in playoffs since most in TV land are partying or a sleep when these teams play. Maybe these committee should come up with a playoff system where 4 teams East of Mississippi and West of have a play off for Championship

Bama will end up playing Auburn and LSU. So it isn't a cake walk. OSU hasn't played anyone either. Whisy was a fraud and was exposed last week. Michigan State was their only other ranked team but they aren't ranked now and look terrible. So that leaves them with 1 tough game. They play Penn St. at home. That's about it. Then they have Michigan but they aren't that great either.

Also Minnesota is a joke. They haven't played a ranked team all year.. not 1. Talk about a cake walk schedule. They don't play a ranked team until next week when they play Penn St.

I am impressed with LSU's QB, ( Joe Burrow ) and their new ( 2018 ) OC Ensminger

Burrow is completing 79.4% of his passes...which is unheard of, and doing it in the SEC. I have not seen how good his arm and release is, but it would not surprise me if he's the first overall pick, with the caveat that he has an NFL arm.

Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!

Last night I told one of my friends who is an Auburn fan exactly what was going to happen in that game today. She just hoped they would be competitive. I told her that Auburn's defense is going to challenge LSU's O like they haven't been challenged all season. I also said Auburn could win it but likely would come up just short and LSU would have their biggest scare of the season.

Surprised that Mac Wilson played as well as he did stepping in for Tua, but then again he faced ZERO pressure. Arkansas looked like they rented a Big 12 defense too.
You're friends w/ SteelerLynn???

We can add Georgia or Florida to the list in the SEC Championship game (if we make it)...

Tape amuses me...

What does Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State and Minnesota have to do with a debate about whether Alabama or LSU should be #1? I didn’t say anything about the Big 10. And Alabama’s schedule, to this point, has been weak as ****. You can play whataboutism with schedules, but it doesn’t change the fact that Alabama hasn’t played anyone and LSU has earned the #1 ranking ahead of Alabama.

Would it make you feel better if Bama was ranked #2???

Sheesh...

It doesn’t matter to me. There was a discussion. I stated my opinion. SEC fans, particularly Alabama fans are sensitive. Sheesh.

Truth is, I root for Penn State. They aren’t going to beat Ohio State. They aren’t getting in to the playoff. That they are 8-0 is great considering they have a crew of turnstiles on the OL and Sean Stifford at QB is a nice surprise and has made for a fun season so far.

If Penn State and Ohio State are still undefeated when they play, they will both be in the top 4 as either Alabama or LSU would have lost as they play a week or two before the game. What sucks is the damn Big Ten put all the perennial good teams on one side of the conference with Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Michigan State. It makes no sense that they have it that way and keep it that way. The winner of that game should win the conference championship as well and stay in the playoff. The loser of the game will have to hope other 1 loss teams lose again as they won't have a chance to recover since they will only have one game after. But, if OSU and PSU go undefeated and one with 1 loss, they will have as good an argument as any conference to have 2 teams in the top 4 as PSU, especially, has one of the top 5 toughest schedules this year.

Alabama is still 1 in the new rankings and it's absolutely absurd. There is absolutely no justification for them to be 1 over LSU. It's as if #1 is bequeathed to Bama by default.

I just find it funny to see discussions picking nits on Clemson or Ohio State but not Bama. They can lose their QB and that doesn't factor into their rankings at all. Anybody think Clemson wouldn't drop is Trevor Lawrence was injured?

Bama may beat LSU and finish unbeaten and at that point earn the #1, but today? No ******* way.

I was pointing out that other high ranked teams have fluff schedules as well and it doesn't hurt them. I don't care if LSU or Bama is #1 because they play each other. So it doesn't matter. Bama doesn't have a killer schedule this year. But they play LSU and Auburn every year. They also don't have an entire conference that is so weak that nobody else can compete except them.

Didn't OSU lose a QB a few years ago and not fall? Didn't they play in the national championship game with a backup QB? Don't remember you bitching about it then.

BTW, if Wisconsin is fake then so is Auburn. Auburn lost to both good SEC teams they played, Florida, and LSU, and they were thoroughly outplayed by Oregon who just kept shooting themselves in the foot. Bo Nix looks like he's going backwards.

Braxton Miller got hurt real early and yes, i believe OSU did fall a few spots and was not #1 all year by default. They just kept winning. I remember nobody gave them a shot with Cardale Jones in the playoffs but then they won very easily against some overrated team. I forget who that was.

Looking it up, in 2014, OSU had Braxton Miller get hurt. Preseason they were ranked 5. They after week 1 with backup JT Barrett, they were dropped down to #8 without a loss. So yes, they did drop and rightly so at that time. Ohio State barely got in that playoff. The QB question dogged them all year. They finished AP 5 but the playoff ranking had the 4 over Baylor because the Big 10 had a championship game and the Big 12 did not.

If Trevor Lawrence got hurt, Clemson would probably drop a spot or 2.

I actually don't care if Bama is #1 right now because there are still lots of games to be played. Just pointing out once again that Bama gets special treatment.

You'd be wrong. They started the year #6 and lost to VT in the 2nd game of the year. They lost their QB in the Michigan game and didn't move down one spot. They actually went up to #5 and then a week later to #4. So please stop anti SEC bullshit you keep spouting.

BTW look at that cup cake schedule from 2014 OSU. They played 2 ranked teams. #7 Michigan St. and #11 Wisconsin.

Your SEC hate is so strong. So Auburn losing by 3 points on the road to LSU is identical to Whisky losing by 31 on the road to OSU? You can't be this obtuse....

LSU appears to be #1 in the AP Poll.

The boards are calling for Pat Narduzzi's head (again).
