College Football Week 4

Penn State has a Bye, which means this is a good week to get that end of season lawncare done.

UCLA and Va Tech both fired their coaches last week. That means their players have a 30 day transfer window and would be able to redshirt this season because they played fewer than 4 games. They would not be able to play for a new team this season.

Florida coach Billy Napier is on the hotseat. What if they get blown out this weekend? That's game 4 which means some of their players might have to make a business decision. If they think this season is lost and Napier will be gone, then maybe demand to redshirt the rest of the way so they don't waste a year of eligibility, which in NIL means wasting a year of getting paid.

17 Texas Tech at 16 Utah 12:00 FOX UT -3.5

The noon window is rough this week. We do have this ranked matchup but it's Texas Tech vs Utah. Both are 3-0, this is an important game for the Big 12 standings. Both teams have top 20 defense but neiter has played a good opponent yet. First quality opponent for each team.

Maryland at Wisconsin 12:00 NBC Wis -9.5
slim pickins at noon. This gamne might be decent. Wisky hung in with Bama for about 20 minutes. Their offense is garbage. Maryland's offense has been good vs 3 chumps.

22 Auburn at 11 Oklahoma 3:30 ABC OU -6.5
Auburn will start former Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold who is offe to a hot start. So has Oklahoma QB John Mateer. Oklahoma coach Brent Venables is a defensive guru who knows all of Arnold's weaknesses. Both teams have tough remaining schedules. The loser of this one may have a a hard time making the playoffs.

Tulane at 13 Ole Miss 3:30 ESPN Miss -11.5
Ole Miss was able to hang on against Arkansas last week despite their backup QB playing. Huge game for Tulane. If they can pull off the upset, they have a clear path to the playoffs with no other ranked teams on schedule. Ole Miss has LSU next week and better not overlook this one.

21 Michigan at Nebraska 3:30 CBS Mich -1.5

battle of former 5 star QBs. Nebraska's Dominik Raoila has been up and down but Narbaska's weapons have not been great. He also imitates Patrick Mahomes like it's Single White Female. Michigan freshman Bryce Underwood had a rough game vs Oklahoma. Michigan has been keeping it simple for him so far. If Nebraska can win this, they have a shot at the playoffs with only ranked teams USC and Penn State left on schedule.

Purdue at 24 Notre Dame 3:30 NBC ND -25.5
turns out it's true that Notre Damne QB CJ Carr was tipping run/pass by his stance. Miami probably didn't notice this during their week 1 game. Did Texas A&M know about it? Purdue was blown out by USC after a long weather delay last week. This game probably won't be close, but Purdue does have a guy named Michael Jackson...Hee Heee

South Carolina at 23 Missouri 7:00 ESPN Miz -9.5
South Car was blown out by Vanderbilt last week but QB Lanorris Sellers was injured. He is supposed to play vs Missouri. Penn State transfer Qb Beau Pribula has been lighting it up in an RPO scheme that's perfect for his skilset. S Car will be a step up in competition.

Arizona State at Baylor 7:30 FOX Bay -2.5
ASU QB Sam Leavitt was the QB being talked about as a potential 1st round pick, but he has not looked good so far. Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson is the one lighting it up with 10 TD in 3 games. He threw 3 vs Auburn and 4 vs SMU so it's not stat padding vs cupcakes.

Washington at Washington State 7:30 CBS Wash -21.5
The Apple CUp. Tough being a Wash State fan. Your last 2 starting QBs were Cam Ward and John Mateer, plus the Pac 12 evaporated and left you behind. The Pac 12 still technically exists with just WSU and Oregon State.

Florida at 4 Miami 7:30 ABC Mia -7.5
as I mentioned above, the wheels could start coming off if Florida gets blown out. Much hyped QB DJ Lagway has looked awful. He looks like ANthony Richardson with less arm talent. Miami QB Carson Beck is having a strong season. Florida's defense has been strong. Miam has been known to be overconfident.

9 Illinois at 19 Indiana 7:30 NBC Ind -6.5

I heard this is the first time in 75 years that both teams are ranked for this matchup. This is likely a playoff elimination game for each team. Indiana has Oregon and Penn State on schedule. Doubtful they'd get in with 3 losses. Illinois can possibly absorb the loss because their 2 toughest games are USC and Ohio State. They might be able to make it in with 2 losses and a USC win. If Illinois can win this, they have a good path to the playoffs.

QBs Altmeyer (Ill) and Mendoza (Ind) are both completing over 70% so far. This could be a really good game.

Michigan State at 25 USC 11:00 FOX USC -18.5
This is the nightcap. Still waiting to see if USC is for real. They've had hot starts then fell apart the last few years. MSU is 3-0 and needed OT to beat Boston College. But BC is better than anybody USC has played so far.

Rutgers vs Iowa on FOX right now. Good game so far tied at 21 which is like 3 games worth of points for Iowa.

Rutgers gave away 50 TVs as a promotion to get a full house. Must have worked, they have a decent crowd. To get a free TV in Jersey it usually has to "fall off a truck".

If the Michigan State Spartans don't present USC with a Trojan Horse as part of pregame, they need to fire all their marketing people.

Thanks tape, appreciate yaz.

I want to see the out come of the Texas Tech / Utah game, not because of favorites, but more so the equally rank of each other.

the spread takes away the customary 3pt home field advantage………..

Illinois vs. Indiana on NBC is a wild as potentially the biggest game of the day. I keep waiting for an exciting top-to-bottom college football weekend. There isn't a single game this week that makes me feel like it's a must watch.

I've been trying to watch some of the potential draft prospects at QB, but this year has been very underwhelming for this overhyped draft class.

Like the NFL, college has limited hitting in practices. Most teams are still playing into shape, especially on the OL.

Syracuse dominating Clemson. Clemson was a trendy National Champ pick. After today, they'll be unranked and out of playoff contention unless the other top teams in the ACC implode and Clemson can win the conference.

A few weeks ago, after Syracuse needed OT to beat a bad UConn team,. Syracuse coach Fran Brown went full Herb Brooks in Miracle and kept his team on the field after the game to run sprints.

Syracuse is having luck in the QB portal market. They got McCord from Ohio State last year and this year they got Angelli from Notre Dame.

It's starting to look like Clemson's success was more about former DC Brent Venables, now HC at Oklahoma.

Indiana is HANDLING Illinois 14 to 7 but Indiana has dominated thus far.

Salute the nation

Indiana 21
Illinois 7

I’m going to switch to another game.

Clemson hired former Penn State DC Tom Allen. Now they know why Penn State broke the bank to get Jim Knowles.

Indiana's QB Mendoza is getting lots of draft buzz now. He looks good tonight but it's so damn easy it's hard to evaluate.

Indiana loving this but I'd guess they will lose their OC and their assistant OC this offseason to bigger jobs.

LaNorris Sellers is the real deal. That throw at the end of the half to set them up for FG was astonishing...

Some loved Mendoza entering the season, others had questions. He's played well so far and easily had his best game and one of the best of any QB in his biggest of the season so far. Indiana just destroying Illinois.
