College Football Week 13

Narduzzi is kinda like Shades. Take a dominant performance and keep it close.

Wow big run for a touchdown.
Pitt is up by 14 again
Its ok... Pitt will win this one... but they assuredly will find some way to blow it vs Miami next week... that or SMU and Virginia will win and shut them out of the ACCCg... or maybe they squeak in but then lose to someone like Duke to end their playoff hopes with an embarrassment.... it will be something stupid

Once more, SMU will beat Pitt because they beat louisville abd Pitt lost to them

But Virginia will beat them on a fluke tiebreaker... its really stupid... because they played NCSU as a non acc game so they don't count as an acc game or a common opponent

Penn State needs to claim the 1994 National Championship. Everyone else is doing it.

Terry Smith deserves consideration for the Penn State job. I think the kids would run thru a wall for the guy.
I think he deserves consideration but I wonder how many of the Penn State players that are clamoring for him to be selected will even be with the team next year.

Aztecs lost both starting receivers for the year, and are up 18-3 at the half.

Not bad.

I really dont know why schools dont claim more old championships from the pre playoff days

Penn State claims 2, but they have claims to 5 more seasons
Pitt claims 9. They have claims for as many as 16, where at least one major poll or publication backed them, but they have really strong claims to at least 2 more...

I feel like penn state with 6 or 7 and pitt with 11 would be fair... those ap only polls sucked before the internet. People barely got to see teams play... they voted on rep

Penn State looked great. On both sides of the ball. Not really much ch to say other than that. I’m just trying to figure out why Koby Howard doesn’t get more reps per game. It will be why he transfers out.

Bittersweet watching Penn State dominate Nebraska. The difference is just coaching. Terry Smith stripped out all Kotalniki's nonsense and is concentrating on blocking people, running the ball and completing passes downfield. On defense, he clearly directed Knowles to stop forcing his defense and to modify his scheme to what his players can execute.

James Franklin allowed this dysfunction. He watched Andy Kotalniki waste practice time on crazy formations and double reverse passes for 2 yards. He watched it for weeks and thought, Yep, that's what will win football games for us.
Should have got a clue last year when 60% of the offense was Tyler Warren. You know what I saw last night? WR’s were open. Wide open in some cases. Against a good pass defense. Grunk was making easy throws down the field. 11-12 for 181 is nice, efficient work. Grunk’s first pass was 31 yards to a wide open Koby Howard. If I’m Drew Allar, I’m pissed. Franklin and Kotalnicki wasted Allar’s junior and senior seasons on gimmicks.

Hindsight for sure, but if they switched to Heintschel sooner, they likely beat Louisville, and certainly WVU.

They're not in the running for a natty, but they are entertaining, so sit back and enjoy what transpires, it won't affect anyone one way or the other.

Penn State looked good on offense because they were playing against the #90 rushing defense in the country. They beat Michigan State because the Spartans have the #80 rushing D. Grunkemeyer has only attempted 25 passes in the last two weeks. PSU averaged less than four yards per carry against Indiana and Iowa, teams who are strong against the run, and 1.8 against Ohio State. They need to be balanced to beat good defenses. The Lions will never beat OSU or any other quality team with 12 or 13 pass attempts in a game. Not going to happen.

But a win is a win, I guess.

The Terry Smith love is bordering on absurdity. I was at the game, and at least 4 or 5 "TERR-Y...TERR-Y" chants broke out in the stadium during and/or after the game. I like Terry, and his players love playing for him, but the guy's record is 2-3. He's beaten the teams he's supposed to beat, and is 0-2 against top 5 opponents with some sketchy clock management issues. Sounds a little too familiar to me.

I think Penn State fans are just so hungry for wins, that they're getting a bit delusional about Smith's ability to oversee this program full-time. Let's pump the brakes just a bit.

I saw they were bringing in Bobby Engram for an interview. It may just be helping prop up a former player, but looks terrible from an optics perspective. It won't matter if they get their guy.

I’m well aware of Nebraska’s ranking against the run. That same defense is ranked 3rd in the nation against the pass. And of the 12 passes attempted, 11 were completed for a tidy 181 yards. That’s pretty good work against a good pass defense. Throw cold water on it all you want, but I found it refreshing to see them play the way I thought they’d play all season. It was fun to watch.

This one is puzzling. Their loyalty to bring in a “Penn State guy” is going to be their undoing. Terry Smith, while likable and passionate about Penn State, is not the guy that’s going to take Penn State to the next level. Neither is Bobby Engram. Got a bad feeling Pat Kraft is about to **** this up royally. If I’m Kraft, I’m calling Bob Chesney 5 times a day minimum.

Of the names I heard, DeBoer would be a home run. He's a good coach who may just not be a good fit for Alabama. I don't think it will happen, but it'd be a great move.

Hartline seems to be the top assistant I've seen mentioned. Not sure if I'm Penn State I want a first-time head coach. Chesney is an intriguing small-school name. Again, a huge jump with a lot of pressure. It's not Cignetti going to a basketball school like Indiana.

Another interesting thing will be if Lane Kiffin leaves, the dominoes are going to be crazy.

That's a new name I hadn't heard. Engram has had mostly had NFL coaching experience. He was the OC for one year at Wisconsin in 2022, and their offense was underwhelming to say the least.
