College football qb offered 5 mil to transfer

It comes down to the nfl never wanting to finance a true minor league system… all the other sports have some sort of developmental league in place… some more formal than others… and all also utilize college players, but to a lesser degree … the nba is the only one that somewhat uses college close to as much as the NFL, but even they have a developmental league in place…
Im not sure kids jumping around and playing in three or four different systems is going to help their development in any way, shape, or form…

Its out of control now
Sheeeeiiii….Outta control? If that money was presented to me as a college student. I’d go. Football, or sports in general. I don’t fault these guys maximizing what they can.

Us fans put more stock into the emotion than they do. It’s a business at the end of the day. College football included. You rake in what you can

I don't have an answer but once you pay 5 million you are professional. So it's really gonna become the U23 professional league.
With Miami’s long history of paying players I expected them to adapt more quickly

Kids will realize with NIL and the portal it may be more profitable to stay in school and get their degree…just craziness

Maybe for a few. The irreplaceable. Guys who would make NFL anyhow. Majority they might get a good job wage. College football lost its innocence decades and decades ago. Hell maybe it never had it. This will take it to a new level.

You said it took loyalty and dedication. It also likely took a nice payment from the boosters.
Of course it did. Nothing wrong with that. Loyalty and dedication to these teams is just a guilt trip to keep their stars around. I’d go where the most money is presented.

Good for them to get their piece of the pie.

Any sport at a high level is not innocent. Lol.
It’s all a big business. Especially when it’s a multi billion dollar business like the nfl etc. a lot of hands behind the scenes want that money to go somewhere.

All it is to me is entertainment. I like the unscripted moments of sports. But I can never get so emotionally attached where the team I root for makes my day.

I’m glad these kids exploited college football for what it’s worth and I hope they cash out as much as they can. No need to play a brutal sport for years when they can get out early with a nice foundation.

I wish this was available when I was attending lol

Nothing but $$& glory…and all those girls
You see those cheerleaders on espn college gameday.

Especially in the state of Tennessee. Oooh lordy!
Vandy and Tenn have something nice in the water

I just feel like you have a program. Looks like it will contend. Oh qb got a good cash offer from BIG U and its over look I have no answers and I know that. I think it just might become unwatchable.

I think it’d help a team a lot more to recruit 5 players at $1 million each than one player at $5 million.

I thought it was refreshing that the kid turned down huge cash from monster programs and decided to honor his commitment to UNC. You want to disparage that? Feel free.

I'm not disparaging that at all. I'm saying he isn't playing at UNC for free.

They f'd up when they opened this thing up to getting paid. They needed to put limits on it from the start. This is now a free for all and makes college football no better than the NFL. A lot of people used to love watching college football so much more than the NFL because it was playing for the love of the game. I understand the need for some money but room and board and spending money is about it. I can't see any reason for them to get more than $1 million or really even $500k a year. That is more than enough. They should also have stipulations that they have to give their money back if they don't play games (regular season or bowl games) to "get ready for the NFL combine."
they squeezed too hard for 30+ years. NCAA were complete assh*les.

then the Court put the hammer down and you got this bullsh*t. They could not just be f*ckin reasonable. no

I’m sure UNC counter offered

And neither is any other premier quarterback in the country. So what?

And I'm sure it was nowhere near $5 million. No matter what the figure was, he decided to stay. That's the point.

You made it sound like he was being loyal coming back to UNC without getting anything in return. I said he was getting paid by UNC. It was nothing more than that.

And football is one thing. Imagine basketball where if you put three of the best players on a team you are largely unbeatable.

He got something in return. Loyalty to a sports program only carries much weight.

You have no idea how much UNC offered the guy, so let's not pretend that you do.

You got a link telling us what that "something" was? Let's not pretend that you do. You have no idea, just like 448.

It doesn't matter how much he got offered. My entire premise is he isn't playing for free at UNC.

Nobody is turning down $5million just because.
Don’t need a link to explain that
