College Football Bowl Thread

PJ Fleck needs a big time program

Actually he’d look good in Black and Gold!

Could you imagine him coming into an NFL locker room and tell them to "row the boats"?

Fleck is a solid coach, I just don't know how "big" of a program he could succeed at.

What if he said "row the boats you Goddamned worthless, lazy *******!" :)

Minor correction, but Harbaugh is 1-4 in bowl games at Michigan.

they would say their contract only requires them to ride in the boat and lightly paddle it twice per week

Tom Coughlin was just run out of the league for imposing fines on players for missing meetings and such. The NFL has totally caved in to the fragile egos of the young NFL players.

If I was coach Smart I would think about pulling Fromm. Something isn't right with him and hasn't been for over a month now. He's missing wide open WRS.

But if the only difference will be that next year he'd go in the top 10 and this year he'd go in the 20-30 range, I'm not sure that's worth returning. He'd be better off rehabbing and learning an NFL offense and maybe start the last few games.

With the new rookie salary caps it's not like it was years ago where a QB going top 10 would be one of the highest paid QBs in the game.

Miami has multiple picks, they may still take him. It would be a perfect situation to sit behind Fitzpatrick for a year, then take over. Miami hired Chan Gailey as OC and he's good at developing QBs. Probably why they hired him.

I think he should goto the draft. He has been injured and another injury will surely diminish his stock. I dont really think he has anything else to prove at AL and Im sure some team will still pick him in the first.

Pitiful. Just pitiful...

The guy isn’t that good. Hasn’t been for a while. He’ll get drafted, but I think the team that drafts him will be disappointed. See: Mason Rudolph.

Oh poppycock. You are up 12 with roughly 30 seconds to go and you have the ball. Running a play in that situation is pretty ******.

I mean you can’t win more than once. No good reason to do that unless you are trying to embarrass your opponent.

Couldn't agree more. Change one letter in Saban and you got his true nature. :flame:

I've watched him for two years. At one point I thought he was one of the best QBs in the nation easily. Then something changed. I don't know what it was. He started missing easy throws and wide open WRs. I know his WRs got hurt but something isn't right.

Fromm is like Andy Dalton. If you give him protection and weapons, you can win games with him, but he's not raising the game of anybody around him.

baylor doesn't have enough talent to make so many mistakes and win.

So I'm finally caught up from my one hour lag start from this mornings, afternoon games, lol

Good games, until now, all Georgia, I thought Baylor was supposed to be good or something..

Ducks game was awesome, they got a hippie QB too that can make plays, not quite the arm of the Clemson kid

So, Mississippi State hired Mike Leach away from Washington State. I know it isn't CFP, but it is college football and I thought it better than making a new thread.

Thoughts? Does he improve that program or do they stay also rans? I would like to see someone get in there and lift one or two of these second tier SEC schools to relevance, but with teams like Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU, it is gonna be a tough gig for anyone. I guess it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Mike Leach doesn't get enough credit for the job that he's done at Wazzu. He'll change the culture there day one and his blue collar approach everything will work well for that team. His largest obstacle, as with most school in the SEC, will be recruiting.

I doubt he will improve them much record wise but he will make them lose higher scoring games. He will also likely be good for the occasional upset when his team has a great day throwing and they beat one of the big boys (i'm looking at you Georgia and Florida) in a shootout game where they are not comfortable.

MSU only gave Joe Moorhead 2 years. That's a shame. He's a great coach. He was Penn State's OC a few years ago. PSU just hired Minnesota's OC. I wonder if they would have brought Moorhead back if he had been fired a few weeks earlier.

Championship game tonight. Since Clemson’s schedule was so weak, it’s tough to figure them. But Clemson did beat the most talented team in Ohio State and did it in a comeback. Clemson doesn’t get rattled.

Clemson has a ton of talent on defense, particularly in the front 7. LSU has not faced a front like this, but their offense is based on quick throws so that may not matter.

Should be a good game.
