College Bowl Thread

Would be nice if he realized he needs more seasoning and made the hard (but right) call. But, the lure of the NFL and all that.
I'm wondering if Fields is the answer we need to replace Ben??? He's got the tool just needs a mentor and more coaching.

Lawrence, Jones and the kid from BYU will probably all be gone before we pick.

Probably a reach though...

Thoughts???

Unlike Jones and Haskins, the kid takes the "work" part of learning your craft seriously. He has the tools and would benefit from not being put in a position where he has to start right away. As I said, I'd prefer he stuck around another year for seasoning (and for selfish reasons). He's going to be a good NFL QB (with a chance, in the right circumstances to be great). Carolina would be another optimal spot for him because he could sit behind a vet in Bridgewater for awhile and learn the NFL game.

Explain. There are 3 QBs statically better than him.

I have Fields at #4 in the top QBs but you never know...

stats won't matter. But Fields does have some pretty big stats. Field is clearly the highest upside QB in the draft. He has excellent mobility and a great arm, plus accuracy. Teams are looking for the mobile QBs. Fields is like Lamar Jackson with accuracy, or Kyler Murray but not a midget. He doesn't quite have that Mahomes arm but he's not far off.

He may be fragile though.

I agree with this...

If he's fragile, he's "tough fragile". He doesn't miss games and some of his best games have come after he's been injured in that game. In fact, he hasn't missed a game due to injury, so "fragile" isn't a word I personally would use.

Methinks he broke that index finger in multiple spots...

I doubt if it was that complicated otherwise they wouldn't have set it so quick.... probably would have required surgery if multiple fractures........ oh well cross my fingers he heals up ...

like what I am seeing of #4 .... dude sure moves the pile and runs with determination.... Robinson

I'm wondering where Mac Jones ends up in the draft.
Break out the template?

This was some easy money tonight. As soon as they announced that 2 starting DL were out for OSU, it was over. I got it at -9 not sure what it ended up at kickoff. I was shocked it didn't shoot up to 14. I would have given up to 20. Must have been a bunch of Browns/OSU fans feeling optimistic keeping the line around 9.

I told the people around me that it would be:

Bama 48
OSU 28

Not bad lol

i think he's a tough evaluation because all of his tape shows it being so damn easy. Where's the adversity? Where's the game where he's under pressure and having to go through progressions and make tough throws? There's none. It's all clean pocket and pitch and catch to wide open guys.

With all these spread offense it makes it tougher to evaluate college QBs. Who is legitimately good and who is just in a great situation?

BWAHAHAHA stfu!!!

The kid needs more seasoning. Buckeye watches him more than all of us.

What the hell do you know about Fields or anyone else for that matter ? You are not a scout not a GM or not a football guy just a big mouthed front runner who thinks he is smarter than everyone else.. I will post all my thoughts on a discussion board and if you don;t like being educated **** off. I bet my evaluations will prove to be more accurate than yours Bama boy. For example Sermon will prove to be a very good NFL RVB and will have a few 1,000 yard seasons due to his power, speed and niftiness.

You won't be here long enough for me to laugh at you...

Whatever dude. I called you out for your lack of football knowledge coupled with your condescending manner which is typical trait in ignorant people which seems to fit you to a tee.

Mac Jones made Fields look less inviting last night

Really? You mean the Mac Jones who sat in the pocket unmolested and threw to wide open receivers in another blowout. Good thing he can expect no pass rush a huge talent advantage and wide open receivers in the N. Fields will dwarf Jones in the NFL and will not last past pick #3.

I’m not sure a person can get a true evaluation of Mac Jones. He faces no adversity on passing plays and he hasn’t had to make a hard pass that I’ve seen. He is throwing to wide open guys that are far and away better than the guys they are lined up against. I can’t say how that compares to Fields, but I don’t think Jones is a factor in whether or not a team picks any QB. I think almost any QB would excel at Alabama right now. I would bet Jones doesn’t go before round 3.
