Colin Holb-a long snapper in the 6th ?now yinz have something legitimate to ***** at.

Anyone know when Colin Holba jerseys go on sale? I haven't seen anything on the official site.

I think much of the disappointment with the pick is exactly that. The second to last present opened was a six-pack of socks, not another toy. But the truth is our socks are worn (or "Warren") and it's a practical present. Another toy most likely would have been quickly forgotten and little used.

I foresee that there will someday be an ESPN 30 for 30 on this pick.

Whether you like the pick or not the Steelers felt he was good enough to GUARANTEE his services not take a chance and have to bid against 31 other teams

it was a dumb pick . Wasted. You know it. Yall are just arguing for arguing sake. You need socks. Go the day after Christmas to kmart,, much cheaper and still on the shelves...

If he's the next Mike Schneck or Greg Warren (aka rock solid for the next decade), I would argue that it is a more valuable late round pick than we normally have, other than AB and a couple other notable exceptions.

And IMO teams know who is going to get drafted. Or they hear things about who other teams like..thats why teams trade up in front of certain teams. So if there is chatter that this guy could be drafted and you pick late in round 7 you take him late in the 6th.

yeah I'm surprised the pats didn't take him with their first pick in the 3rd.

And the guy working the register might have been a late sixth round NFL draft pick.

He long-snapped at the Senior Bowl so our scouts certainly saw him do it.

Who says 6th round picks don't count. Brown or Brady?

Every position in football except long snapper has their own top ten best players.

Good long snappers are pretty common. Maybe there's 1-2 botched long snaps per team a year. Maybe...

LS as a roster spot is not important. I'd argue the next man up on the bench at almost every position is more important!

One thing I'm sure of... He's a LOCK to make the team as Colbert has his name on him.

until your LS gets hurt and you have some one fill in and the snap is totally ****** up and the other team gets the ball because of it........

And they've mentioned what makes him draftable in their minds. He is 6-4 248 and can get bigger and contribute to the coverage teams. Where as most LS dont really contribute to the coverage

Teams only carry one long snapper. And they seldom get hurt. Let me put it this way, they are on the field for just punts and extra points/field goals. They don't get hit as much as other lineman do.

When they do get hurt, your centers can usually fill in for the time being until the wavier wire opens up for next week.

Why Pouncey our out backup center isn't the backup long snapper, and Harrison was or is, was never explained to me.

Homers here will defend anything...

He's pretty slow with a 5.19 40 yard dash, which means he's likely the slowest man on the field for punt coverage, and easily beaten by the return man.

You want him bigger, fine the cost is speed and quickness in coverage.

Most long snappers do not make a lot of tackles in kick coverage,

Maybe you can look for that and post the data here.

I keep reading the argument that nobody cares about long-snappers until one gets hurt. Okay, so, are we carrying two on the roster now? Because if we are not, and one gets hurt, we are in the same boat.

I just checked, of the 32 teams in the league, right now, only 3 drafted long-snappers including ours. So, 90% of the league found their guys off the street.

In addition, only 11 teams have more than one long-snapper on roster right now and two teams have 3, one of the two being US. Oh, wait, you didn't know that we have Kameron Canady on roster, a 6'4"-237 pound long-snapper that is more athletic than the guy we just drafted. He was a rookie last year and won the starting LS job with Arizona until, in his 3rd game, sailed one over the head of the holder and Arians got pissed and canned him. Arians then hired a guy off the street to hold down the spot, still has him. But, Canaday is a talented player and when they asked Arians if he had a problem, Arians said it was between his ears. So, not like he cannot get over that.

Still, he has as good a shot at winning the LS job as anyone. Then, we will have filled the "need" and pissed away the draft pick, just like they did with Drew Caylor.

Hell, if they were that worried, they could have waited until one of the other teams dumped one of the 10 LS on roster, signed him as a practice squad player, worked him, then replaced Warren at a later date. This guys are not hard to find. ****, even the Browns find them on the trash heap, but not us, we have to draft one and hope he doesn't fail, like the last one we drafted.

I'm waiting on the obligatory "flip the field" post that really caps off people defending a stupid move by the FO.

Why would you say that? Didn't TMC say that drafted one a couple years ago and cut him?

I'm not defending the pick at all....I think it was idiotic.....

cooch said long snappers were not important, that they were less important that bench players.......I just pointed out that their value is overlooked until something happens to them and you have to fill the spot on the fly in a game with a backup who likely doesn't get a lot of practice....

the best thing to do is not talk about it anymore, like it never happened...
