The mediocre, bland, depressing band wil headline the Super Bowl. They are the musical equivalent of beige, I guess Up With People were unavailable.

Super Bowl needs a good headline music act. Do something new rather than the pop or indie pop music scene. Reach out to the young audience. Throw in Drake or Fetty Wap for the players. Maybe throw in some Saosin for some guitar. Or add a canadian flare and bring in RUSH

coldplay went to the ******* after their second album. Unsufferable

They must've been the only band willing to pay the NFL for the privilege

Coldplay? Never heard of them.
Bring in the Jools Holland Orchestra with Tom Jones singing and Candy Dulfer on sax. Bunch of Brits that would rock the house.
Best halftime show in recent memory was Prince.

Bring Back Bruno!!!!!!!! Coldplay is nothing but a group of whiney Brits who suck.

For the 50th, you'd think they would have gone all out. Coldplay just isn't even close to living up to that. Very disappointing to hear that.

Chick rock.

I have a cousin who went to see Coldplay in concert, his mom (my aunt) also attended the concert separately. They joked about her going to the concert.

I suggested it made a lot more sense that a 52 year-old woman would attend a Coldplay concert, than her 24 year-old son.

Coldplay is absolute crap, looks like another year I'll be watching the puppy bowl at halftime

Prince sucks. Always did. They need a true rock band for halftime, not some pop bullcrap.

This....

All these "has-been" acts just leave the room empty at halftime...

foo fighters, black keys, the strokes, queens of the stone age, the killers, snow patrol, soundgarden is back. Any of these would kick coldplay pansy ***

Coldplay?! WTF?! Who wants to be sad and depressed and dull for the Super Bowl? Shouldn't the music appeal to the fanbase, be appropriate for the moment, and be upbeat and exciting? Coldplay is the exact opposite of everything I would ever look for in a SB halftime show. My god

The Super Bowl needs to drop the halftime act, send the teams to the locker room, have the talking heads go over the first half, bring the teams back out and get on with it. The Super Bowl doesn't need a 30 - 40 minute halftime, just sayin.

Let's watch dogs catch frisbees!

The SB halftime show and the SB commercials target a specific audience. This audience, I presume, rarely tunes in any other NFL Sunday.

Oddly, the last 2 SB wins for the Steelers had the Stones (or was it The Who?) and the Boss, both classic rock artists, performing. Then the SB loss to the Pack... who was the halftime artist? Black Eyed Peas?

Looks like I've discovered the key to Steeler SB wins. Who's got KISS's booking agent's number?
