Colbert ok with Big Ben calling out players on the radio.

Apparently, Colbert was on nfln this morning and said the Steelers have received 3 inquiries for AB already.

And the rumor is that Arizona is one of them. which would send AB to Cards. for Josh Rosen and a mid round pick. no,no,no,no,no! would hate this trade if it happens. this was just on Pardon the Interruption. no,no,no.

I just looked it up and it isn't even a rumor, it's something ESPN's Bill Barnwell brought up in an article. Producers just trying to get some extra reads for an ESPN writer.

Maybe Colbert realized the status quo isn't helping the Steelers. He has become more vocal lately. For years I've been saying we need more playmakers on defense. No he's saying exactly that.

If Rooney II and Tomlin can't act or speak out, Colbert seems capable of doing so on behalf of the Steelers.

So rock on Colbert, and please do a better job of drafting DB's.

damn, has everyone gone over board on the sensitivity now? Colbert wasn't saying everyone else is childish, Ben is 37 the next closest player is what 31, I don't know for sure, but he was saying that Ben is so much older than everyone else in the locker room age and years in the league, he needs some of the younger guys to step up and help lead.

Gheez, thanks Tom. Finally some common sense is communicated here. If you listen to KC’s commentary when it occurred, he was implying that Ben is the only player to “have been there” (SB win experience) and the younger players should ask what did it take? Is there anything you see that I can do better to get us there? It’s called being a leader. Pouncey, Cam, do their part, but would like DeCastro or Al take that role too. KC was speaking from the team standpoint “they are all kids” to him personally.

It’s to the point the media and these players jump all over what KC said and taking it out of context. More sensationalism by the national media. Even when KC was on NFLN trying to clarify his intent on what he said, the host was leading questions towards insinuating disrespect.

Wonder if the same scrutiny will be handled with Kraft and his “indictment “....which by the way is subject to disciplinary action from the Commish. Will he though?

Yeah, I will never understand why this is perceived by the media and opposing players, for Ben, as a negative. Bunch of thin-skinned ******* masquerading as warriors.

Yeah If I got 20 million a year and my manager complained I wasn't in the right spot in the office I'd say where would you like me to be sir?

Ridiculous thing to say about a professional football team. Ben has 52 kids under him? Who wouldn't be insulted by that ****.

Don't want to get called out then don't **** up your job.

What does that have to do with the GM calling the entire team Ben’s kids? These are grown men with wives and their own kids. Sure a few act stupid but you don’t call all of them kids.

I don't think he meant it in a negative context as you are making it out to be. He even came back and elaborated on it..

First, Colbert was asked about him saying a few days ago that Roethlisberger essentially oversees “52 kids” underneath the quarterback every season and what he meant by that.

“In referencing to our younger players, what I was referencing is, Ben is the only player that’s ever won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Colbert explained. “And we have a few people, few of our players were on the team, Antonio [Brown] included, when unfortunately we lost to the Green Bay Packers. Antonio, and of course Maurkice was on that team as well – Maurkice Pouncey. So I was referencing the younger players on our team and their lack of experience in a Super Bowl-winning environment. And Ben’s really the only one that can say that he has done that.

“So I think there’s tremendous value in that. Does that mean that we have got a bunch of juveniles or anything like that? No, of course not. We got some really good veteran players like a Cam Heyward or a Maurkice Pouncey, who are unquestionable leaders as well, but they’re still not the Super Bowl winning type of player that Ben Roethlisberger is. And that’s why he is and will continue to be the unquestioned leader of this team. And I still think it would be valuable for all of our players to recognize that and not only ask Ben about that experience, but also try to help him get us all back to that Super Bowl win.”

Tomlin enabled this **** show with AB 100%.
Ben for at least the first half of the season was obviously trying way to hard to force the ball to AB, I think it's because AB was being a little ***** about not getting enough targets.
Never thought I'd say it, but I'm glad he's on the trade block. Maybe, just maybe we will see a more focused team as a result.

We will stop seeing forced throws.
I'll say the Steelers will need another receiver if JuJu is going to be the new #1.

Conner, JuJu and Vance need to stay healthy.
Another note is all those guys bring a physical aspect at their position. I'm going to guess we'll see an offense similar to Ben's rookie and sophomore years.

Yeah but we're still going to be 8-8 because the defense will still suck.

I wouldn't go that far he didn't even attempt 300 passes and was under 3,000 yards

I can see a run heavy offense again.
They ran with Bell a lot, but Ben also had a lot of passin weapons in Brown, Martavis, etc.

Now? Outside of JuJu and McDonald, unless Washington steps up big.
They don't seem as dynamic

Connor has gotten hurt both seasons, Ben is still the best player, I don't think we'll be run heavy, and it's still a passing league.

if your QB is not the leader on your team, there's likely an issue.

supe I agree with almost everything you say, but this one I don't. Cowher was the leader, Noll was the leader. but now Ben has to be the leader? Tomlin has got to be the leader on this team!

Colbert clarified that Tomlin is The Last Word in leading the team.

Ben is most likely his enforcer. Perhaps not even by choice.

Somehow, Coach Cowher managed to be both a players coach and a disciplinarian at the same time. Tomlin, not so much. HCMVLT is not as ****** as some of The Nation make him out to be...but he really does have a couple flaws.

Not sure we can make it over this hump before Ben really does retire.

Sure Chin was the leader, but Dirt Dawson, Woodson, Bettis, Lake, Perry, Farrior and to an extent Porter ran the locker room during his tenure.

Heyward, Pouncey, DeCastro, Watt have the opportunity to step up and be the player leaders as well.
No Bell, No Brown. No more excuses with the drama stuff.

I think that window has closed. Not Ben's fault, the offense is fine, but Tombert couldn't keep a good defense on the field due to too many draft busts in LB's and DB's.

I would guess none of these talking heads/ex-players have listened to the radio show and hear the context of Ben's words.

When I have listened he simply answers questions he is asked and provides truthful facts of the situation he is chatting about. And he seems very comfortable and casual with the hosts.

Now Colbert is a media ***** ?!?!? WTF!

Diarrhea of the mouth must be contagious in the Steeler organization these days...

Somebody fumigate the entire South Side facility!
