Coates had surgery

I was absolutely disgusted with Coates in the AFCCG. That said, I would still put him ahead of DHB on my depth chart. DHB is done, never accomplished anything, whereas at least Coates has a chance of making something of himself..... maybe.

I think that because the "COST" is low you wait till training camp to determine depth chart role of each. GRADE them on performance only and keep whom is qualified.

Salute the nation

If DHB beats Coates out in camp, I'll take whatever is behind door number 3.

Hopefully they implanted jerry rices catching ability because it will take more than fixing a couple of fingers to help him out

For all you writing him off he'll be a 3rd year player who averaged 20 yards a catch before his injury.

I do not get it either.

Coates had some big plays in his pro debut in the playoff game against a great Broncos secondary last year, and prior to the injuries, was on pace for about 1200 receiving yards this season.

I know the drops were frustrating, but the kid's been hurt.

Considering that, why that kept playing him, I do not know.

One thing I do know is that the Limas Sweed comparisons are just idiotic. Coates has made several more big plays for the Steelers than Sweed ever did.

The surgery is repairable. Should have had it done week 4. He would have been fully healed by week 12-14 for the stretch run.

He's not a 2, but he does make a great 4/5 receiver. With healed hands, I can see him making an impact next year. Much like Dr Strange...

Coates played with a broken hand because we had little behind him @ wr and nothing on special teams. I'm sure he volunteered to play which showed some guts and deserved a lot better than the crap he's getting here.

I'm sorry, short arming that pass in the AFC Championship game deserves the **** he has caught. he didn't even give himself a shot at the ball...

and it is not like he tore it up on special teams....

CMVLT has a lot of these kind of questions to answer. TOTALLY baffling as to why Ayers wasn't active???

Exactly. Ayers was doing well but early in the AFCCG on third and one you go long to a guy with splints on his hands who's caught two passes in the last twelve games.

I think it would be smart to sign Wheaton since he won't commands big dollar contract. I'd cut Green and try and draft The TE Howard at the 30 spot. Drafter Ju Ju Shuster WR USC in 2nd round.
Spend some ******* money and sign Nick Perry OLB, and a starting CB. Hopefully Sanquez comes back and he's my slot Corner. Round 3 defensive line. Round 4 RB. 5 thru 7 depth.
