Just cut by saints. The saints signed him and paid him a bunch of money last year. He had some injuries so didn't play early then when he was healthy, they preferred to play the mediocre Mark Ingram and then a previously out of football Tim Hightower ahead of Spiller. Last week he was a healthy scratch.

If this guy is healthy, I hope the Steelers snap him up immediately because he'd be a perfect fit and huge upgrade over Toussaint

My immediate thought. But it won't happen because Rooneys won't want to spend to do it. If D Will went down, that would be a different story. I always liked Spiller, when drafted by the Bills. And his one armed slam down on Cockrell proved he still has some juice.

Spiller sucks

Ingram and Hightower were both better than him, that's why they played.

What we need is more help on the D line.

If we are going to simply go to our most thin area, we have to talk CB. Toussaint simply doesn't get it done. He went undrafted for a reason. We have to hold our breath that D Will stays healthy for 2 more games.

I'm not feeling CJ Spiller at this point, quite frankly. He looked ok during pre-season, but clearly is not a player the Saints thought could help them. And evidently he had ZERO trade value as they simply cut him. But who knows, maybe he finds the fountain of youth on an established team with championship hopes. I guess they could bring him in for a look-see. I'm intrigued with how David Cobb is looking in practice, as far as potentially upgrading Toussaint/Richardson. Put up nearly 3k yards and 5.1 career ave in basically two years of college ball.

We've addressed CB as much as I think they're willing to this year. Eli Rogers went undrafted too ... do you think there was a valid reason for that? I'm not saying Toussaint is going to be a world beater. But, the expectation that every position will have an All-Pro waiting in the wings as a backup is unrealistic.

A new CB is too hard to integrate into our defense once the season starts, unless they've already played in the Steelers system, too many moving parts in the secondary.

A big fat guy up front that stacks up the line and gives the other a rest would be easier to find, I think

A big fat guy on the line helps the linebackers as well. The Steelers linebackers big play ability is being taken away cause Butler cannot get enough pressure from the D line. I agree with this. Guys like Taylor, McFadden and Gay had their work cut out for them cause 1: Aaron Smith was badass 2: Big Snack was dominant and required a double team which really opened up doors for the linebacking group and in essence that relieved a lot of stress on the secondary. The current group of guys? Linebacking core is a lot more faster/athletic. On paper our guys should be flying, but their strengths cannot be utilized cause no one on the D line requires that double team. We need a fat, fast lineman to get this defense going! Amen

There is high hopes for THE GRAVEDIGGER to be that guy.....well not but quick.

Pass. He had one great year like 4 years ago. I drank the kool-aid a few years ago in fantasy and then watched him he at one point had elite speed but I think lost a step. He was never that elusive. He's a slower Daryl Richardson.

wow 12 posts and no one said anything about the template.... what is going on here

sounds like you are describing Deangelo from a few years ago.

How 'bout a big, fat, fast running back, that can play NT in a pinch? The best of both worlds...

Williams always had wiggle so he can lose a step. Just like Willie Parker if your game is elite speed you are gone if they lose a step. Spiller lost a step.

I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a guy or two on every team that can do that.

Ummmm, Toussaint sucks. He lost our playoff game with his careless fumble and he just kind of sucks. Spiller is better, period.

Well, if true, it ain't happening this season. I'm OK with the send 3, cover with 8, as long as it works, who cares?

ONLY if they need a stop gap. With the front line of Pittsburgh, he would do ok. There are other needs on the roster, maybe another OLB or TE if Green can't go

Ummm, Toussaint made a horrible mistake at the worst possible time. We lost that playoff game by not putting the ball in the endzone when we had opportunities. His fumble was of course one of those opportunities. Spiller isn't the same Spiller you're picturing. He's broken down. If you want to get rid of Toussaint, Cobb and Richardson are better options than Spiller. Period.

Get Spiller in open field and I bet he still knows how to burn the field up.
