Chucky says 5 QBs in the first round

I saw the Mariucci thing on NFL Network. He had just three QBs on the show - Cook, Hogan and Green (Oregon)
Cook looks very good.
Hogan's just a guy with a weird girly throwing motion
Green, as small as he is, looked ok - but wasn't too accurate.

I think Wentz and Goff will now go 1 & 2 now with the trades. Paxton Lynch goes anywhere from #7 to '9ers to #20 to the Jets with the Bills and Bears being potential suitors in the middle. I feel Cook and Hackenberg could be late first round picks if someone falls in love with them. I think Cook has the better production and tape but Hack has the better arm, athleticism and skill set.

If I am putting my board together though I have Goff and Wentz as mid first round picks. Lynch late first early second. And Cook and Hack 2nd or 3rd round grades.

crossing fingers that it happens, hopefully even a trade up by the broncos

There is no better scenario for us - except 6 QBs going before we pick. Doubt more than 3 go but we can pray for it.

No way 5. 3 or 4 at most.

And Hack sucks. I NEVER was impressed with him. He sucked last year.

Hackenberg will get drafted high because he's 6'4" and 223 pounds. I've seen him rated anywhere from a second-round QB to seventh or even undrafted.

Teams that need a real qb:
Cleveland
Jets
Cowboys
Eagles
Chiefs

Hackenberg in shorts throwing the football is impressive. Someone will think they can turn him into Elways. Honestly, if he could ride the pine behind Roethlisberger for 3-4 years and learn the offense and how to read defenses he'd be worth a shot. But I don't see him lasting until after we draft a CB, S, OK, and DL.

I might add... the 49er's and Saints.

The point that these talking heads seem to making is that the QB's available in the next two drafts are NOT top shelf guys.

IF... and I repeat... IF... you think that way for any of these teams... it may provoke you to reach a bit in this draft. All I can say is this... IF it happens... I will be cheering at the TV... maybe LOUDER than I cheer during a game!

Shoot... maybe the Browns want to move up from pick #32 to #25... I would listen!

I would take him in the 3rd round and cut Landry Jones the same day.

That article made tape moist....

I like Wentz, but none of these guys should be going in the top 10. Seems like they are drafting Jamarcus Russell all over again because of need.

Hackenberg's potential to help us this season is less than L Jones...pass.

Fully rooting for him to go to a team before we pick though, that would be hilarious

I want Hackenberg to go before #25 or fall to us in the 4th. If we could go CB, S, DT and then Hackenberg would be great. I honestly think he could sit at #3 this year, be the backup next year, and then maybe 2 years after that take over for Big Ben.

they signed Tannehill to a mega contract. he's going nowhere.

so, yes, the list was incomplete. Teams in need of a QB:

Cleveland
Jets
Cowboys
Eagles
Chiefs
Denver
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Buffalo

Possibles:
Arizona
N'Awlins

looking at that list ---

which teams would prefer a QB over other needs?
Cleveland, Jets, Denver, LA

Cowboys will be going Defense heavily, per their defensive losses this off-season.
Bradford isnt a baaaaaaad QB, but not all that good either. Philly will take a QB at 2.
Alex Smith is average, Chiefs may pull the trigger on a QB such as Lynch.
If San Francisco trades Kap to Denver, they'll need a QB and Denver will be content with Kap for a season or two.
Buffalo wont take a QB until later.
Cleveland likely wont take a QB in the first now.

So we have:
LA, Philly, Denver/San Francisco who may take a QB in the first.

Pretty obvious LA and Philly going QB, the whole question is who will take Lynch later in the round.

Could be Den, NYJ or maybe Cle...will it be one of the late pickers or will someone trade into the back end for Lynch and/or Cook

Hack is the most NFL ready QB to start day 1 and it's not close. He is the only QB who played an NFL system. As a freshman, he was calling out protection at the line in Obrien's patriot offense. He is mentally ahead of every other QB.

His issue is that he got hit way too often and developed bad footwork. That hurt his accuracy.

Gruden had him on his show and noted that his footwork changed from freshman year to sophomore year. Hack said the new staff changed his footwork. Gruden did not seem to think that was a good idea. He kept pointing to missed throws and his awkward footwork.

That is the bottom line with Hack. His main negative is something that is easily coached and that negative was not there as a freshman so it's on film that he can be accurate.

If you watch the episode, it is really impressive how advanced Hack is mentally and gruden says so himself. He said he'd be shocked if Hack was not a first rounder.

I will be shocked if Cook goes ahead of Hack. Cook had the worst ball velocity at the combine. Rumors are that he's an ******* with a big ego and his teammates did not like him. The Mich State offense was pretty simple.

If you are drafting Cook, you seem to be drafting a backup. You may as well sign Hoyer instead.

I can see Lynch going ahead of Hack because he has such a high ceiling with his size and athleticism but he's a huge project. When your job is on the line, you may not want the project player.

I heard the 2017 QB class is a bit weaker. This could explain why teams have traded up to get them now.

Not Green, that is Vernon Adams QB from Oregon

I think Alex Smith is a little better than average, but not by a lot. He isn't throwing a ton of passes and massing the yards, but he isn't making mistakes by throwing int's either. Gets sacked quite a bit and is 31. No idea who they have as back up, so this might be a good time to pick up their future QB.

AZ has Palmer who has been playing well, but approaching 90. Their back ups don't seem noteworthy (Stanton and Barkley), so I could see them going QB, too, if someone drops. Not sure Arians would trade up for one, though.

If lynch is there at 25, I'm making some calls to Denver, KC and AZ to see who offers the better deal.

This mock has Lynch going to the 49ers. Hack in the third.
