Chaos! Thats what Bwady said on his weekly radio show in Boston today. Chaos!

Can't really argue with Br*dy on that. As I said to the wife, "WTF are training camp and preseason games for? You're supposed to have your **** together."

Perhaps you need to re-read what I wrote and what I responded too. She wanted to ask why Brady only scored 28 points. I answer that. If you look at the overall game there are always misses. I can't count how many times Ben has missed open WRs. Ben is a great QB but he isn't a quick read and he is erratic at times. So that is going to come with the territory.

Also most on here want it both ways. They say the pats**** suck on defense and that Brady isn't that good. Then why they get beat it's "well we did lose to the SB champs and we didn't lose but by 7 points). Either they suck or they don't. I don't think they are that good. They've lost a lot on defense and I can't even name you their starting WRs outside of that amendola character. It's basically Gronk and Brady.

Point taken Vader. Just so the record is clear, IMO, nobody beats Brady in NE. No AFC team has beaten a Brady led team (during the regular season) since 2006. While our preparedness was questionable (although i don't know why-we are rarely prepared early in the season), the unforgiving part of the defensive effort was the 'uncovered receivers' and the 2x we had only 10 men on the field.

Gronk only caught 5 passes out of 8 targets, 3 of them were TDs. Amendola is really their #3 receiver and caught 2 passes on 3 targets. We REALLY lost this game on the poor coverage of their #1 WR, Edelman. He caught 11 of 12 targets which means we couldn't figure out how to cover the guy. (inexcusable)

Most of Brady's throws were under 10 yards or damn close SO the rush is negated and IMO irrelevant. The FACT that we knew this and still didn't TRY to rough the WRs up at the line of scrimmage and get Brady's timing off (especially after advertising we would do this) is also inexcusable. I have said I don't think we have the type of DBs who can play press-man/bump-run with anyone right now makes this more of a problem. They are either too small like Boykin, Blake and Golson or they are not quick-twitch enough (Allen).

IF I were to go into this game knowing Boykin wasn't going to play, I would have had Allen on him when he played outside and Shazier on him if he lined up inside. Also, I would have had Gay playing over Edelman in the slot. It is unfortunate that Gay is our best slot CB and our best outside CB. If Boykin plays, I would move Gay to the slot ONLY if the slot receiver is a smaller-shifty type like Edelman. He is as hard to cover as AB in my opinion.

That's what Bwady said this morning on his weekly radio show. He said they looked confused and couldn't believe it when Gronk was left uncovered. Chaos! When do you remember a Steeler defense described as such?

That describes our defense for the last handful of seasons...Nothing new here.

I believe the bigger problem is the person charged with lining them up pre snap.

It is a huge problem.

And Troy is not there any more to bail them out.

As I am typing this, 4 teams have yet to play this week.... there are 32 teams in the league... 14 of which have allowed 26 or more points this week. The steelers allowed 28... 9 teams allowed that many or more points this week... none of which were facing Tom Brady and the Cheatriots.

in this NFL only 1 team thus far allowed single digits to a team...and that was 9 points... Defense is dead

Are we playing this game again?

Don't look back, thats not where you're going. Let us talk about the 49ers, how do you think they looked tonight and how will we match up?

good D, horrible offense though Hyde is a pretty good RB and they could gash us with the run, they are very physical

There's no excuse for that much chaos. These are veteran players and the steelers simplified the defense. These ******** didn't even know where to line up. I can find high school kids who know where to line up in a cover 3 scheme.

And if there is so much confusion then it must have shown up in practices. Maybe Tomlin should have actually used preseason to get his starter some practice instead of using them as throwaway scrimmages featuring a bunch of young guys he had no intention of keeping.

Shamarko must be #4 in the safety rotation now. They had to know that heading into the last preseason game so why not give Allen all the playing time. Why not have Garvin playing more snaps since apparently you trust him so much that you put him in at the goal to guard Gronk.

When there are that many mistakes it is the coach's fault. Dupree is the only guy who can use inexperience as an excuse.

I've said it a few times and it is becoming more and more obvious. The problem with Tomlin's defensive picks is between the ears. He drafts and signs dumb players.

I don't mind a few dummies if they are great athletes, so long as you have a smart player next to him. Who is a smart player on this defense? Timmons didn't even have the green dot on his helmet last year. They gave it to Vince WIlliams. That should tell you something.

What if this steeler defense had a spygate advantage? I don't think it would make a difference. These retards left Gronk completely uncovered multiple times.

The Pats probably cheated in the SUper Bowl and knew that last play was coming. They specifically practiced with Butler jumping that exact route. If the Steelers were in that same situation and they practiced all week with a DB to jump that play and they called it in the game, that steeler DB would probably run backwards and knock himself unconscious on the goalpost.

Young guys or not I expect SOMEBODY on defense to recognize two receivers on the same side of the field completely uncovered and call for a shift or a time out or some damn thing. Anything but leave one of the best TEs in the NFL uncovered on multiple plays.

I laughed...

Our defense looked like hot garbage on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the 80's; but, I guess we can forget about that...

I wasn't born yet. So I've been spoiled with Blitzburgh of the 90's and a good defense in the 2000's

This defense may be young, but even my 12yr old knew they should at least be attempting to cover the neanderthal TE.

This is not a young defense. Most have been on the team or in the league for years. I think only Tuitt and Dupree are "young" and only one of those guys start.

Young players at many positions + New schemes and responsibilities at most every position + New DC = early chaos.... this was to be expected

Might add the headsets malfunctions, but that was to be expected......................???

I suspect "something" caused this chaos - I just can't seem to put my finger on it...

Or EAR to it........!!!

I think when comparing this "D" to the last two, in the average age category, most think it is a younger "D". I think that's why so many are refering to it that way, or they just heard it from someone somewhere and keep repeating it.

The D is young in some spots, Tuitt, Shazier, Jar Jar and some backups. It should be younger in the secondary. But the starting secondary they put on the field last week had an average of 8 NFL seasons of experience. And they were the unit that sucked the most.

If we said inexperienced would that make it better? Fine Jones is 26, but he has barely started in the NFL. Thomas, same thing... not a lot of actual playing time under his belt... Shazier... Tuiit, This isn't a b=vet laden defense... even guys like Heyward and McClendon haven't had tons of experience per se... all of them playing a fairly different scheme are going to have adjustment periods

Young or not, I can't recall a single time when I've seen a team's number 1 receiving threat COMPLETELY UNCOVERED at the line of scrimmage. I simply have never seen it, from any team in the NFL. People get fired for that kind of incompetence, butler should be on the hot seat.

Jones isn't young. He'll be 26 in a few weeks. Shazier and Tuitt are young but every team in the league has a few young guys.

I read the last part wrong. I get what you are saying now.

Thomas isn't even playing much now. The starters are about as experienced as any other team. Gay's been in the league 9 years. Allen for 12. Timmons 9 years. Heyward has played in 65 gams and started 30. McLendon has been in the league going on 6 years. He's played in 64 games. How much more time do they need? Even C. Allen is going on his 5th season. He's played in 56 games. These aren't inexperienced kids. The only real young kids are Dupree, Tuitt and Shazier. The rest have been around plenty long enough. But you'll find that on every team. Some teams are much younger with less experience and doing much better.
