Can we all finally agree that Tomlin needs to be canned?

Tomlin backers are absent in this thread, and we know who they are.

This season is going to end on a sour note, and his incompetence is a reason why.

Tomlin has his warts but this is why my perspective is what it is. Look at Lewis and what Cincinnati has put up with. They would take Tomlin's records in one second.

We have a elite QB and elite WR and a shut down corner and a talented O roster, comparing the Steelers to the Bungals is laughable.

You like to use odd comparisons. From GFs to the ****** Bengals. And say other teams have it worse, it still doesn't mean we shouldn't change coaches. Perhaps we actually desire to get another ring before Ben hangs it up.

I didn't start the whole girlfriend thing only responded to it. The Bengals comparison is only to show my perspective. Why is it only your opinion can be right on this? I understand your opinion I am not ripping you for it only for ripping others for their opinions. My only beef with the fire Tomlin crowd is the nastiness and negativity that goes with it and the total lack of reality of thinking it will happen. I think we can win with Tomlin. Can you prove me wrong? Has he won in the past. Has he really been any worse than the other top 10 coaches in the league outside the cheating asshat in New England? Again I can live with him going or staying. I just don't have the opinion or the anger at htim that many have.I think he is part of the issue but not the sole issue and I don't think he is beyond redemption either. In the end we are all Steeler fans(aside from pop and his aliases) and should not be so nasty to each other for our opinions. If we are going to name call and be nasty it would be better to do over beers!

Lol.

So being better than Cinci is all the Steelers should strive for?

It is about more than Cincy, Just showing that Tomlin is at least on par anyone other than Belicheat and I don't count him. This league breeds parity outside cheating. It is designed for it. Maybe a new coach would win were he hasn't maybe they wouldn't I still enjoy watching them, but if they were not as consistent it would be more painful to me.

I actually thought we had a good debate, did you see where I was flaming you? I just don't agree with your comparisons. I think they are way off the mark. Not even remotely close to being relevant.

You and few others think we can still win with Tomlin I get it. But you come across that you are comfy with just winning seasons, I am not.

I don't need to prove you wrong in regards to Tomlin winning a SB, they are proving you wrong each year they come up short.

When trends develop it is naturally plausible to believe we will see more of that said trend.

You pointing to his only SB victory proved he could do it in the beginning. But people evolve for the better or worse over time.

And nothing points to him improving.

We still play down to competition taking our team out of high seeding, even cause playoff elimination provided the rats don't choke.

And the clock is winding down on opportunity. Ben is here 1 or 2 more years.

And I tell ya seeing what changes they made in the off-season the lack of, I have even less faith that their decision making will be on the SB side of things.

My belief comes from ten plus years of futility. Yours comes from before that time period. 1 single solitary happening.

It started ugly. Got better. I think all of us had raw nerves after that game. Some were worse than others.

butler and his stupid 2-4-5 needs to go

at least with lebeau you had creativity with 3-4-4 3-3-5 1-5-5 3-2-6 and he did more loads with butler you know its watt from the strong side and just Dupree coming from the edge no overload to cause OL to open gaps by sending see Williams/bostic on a cross or fort.

we need a mix of 3-4 and 4-3

DISAGREE

Time to just look at numbers and have some resemblance of an informed opinion. Enough with this emotional Monday morning quarterbacking and playing NFL owner. Look at the numbers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cowher
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tomlin

What stands out is that Tomlin and Cowher have had very similar success with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have much different leadership styles and philosophies, yet have maintained competitive football teams. Cowher had a losing playoff record (8-9) before winning 4 playoff games the '05 SB winning season. It took Cowher 4 losing seasons to pickup high end draft picks that eventually became the cornerstones to the continued success in his latter years of coaching. Why aren't we having the same faith and support based on the numbers for the current Steelers HC? Cowher was a talented coach and I don't see why as a fan of the Steelers you won't hold that same regard for Tomlin.

I think the Cowher/Tomlin debate has been played out.

The difference for me is you could tell Cowher gave a **** about winning. Cool shades is just nonchalant. And Cowher never did stupid **** like trying to trip a kick returner.

Cowher was very much on the hot seat. He won a SB when he got a qb. They are very similar coaches. Both very good leaders. I believe Cowher actually knew defense though. He played at the highest level and wasn't a one year wunderkin coordinator. Had Ben not fallen into his lap he leaves Pitt without a title. Difference is that if he stayed they might have at least one more. Tomlin has had Ben his entire HC career. Monster difference.

I liked Cowher, but thought it was time for him to go.

I feel pretty much the same about Tomlin.

Change is often good. I think the team is ripe for it.

Cowhers defenses never gave up fourth quarter points like Tomlins defenses have. Just this season alone, we gave up 14 to Cleveland, Tampa, Oakland, and 18 to Chargers. Chargers, Oakland resulted in losses, Cleveland a tie.
Cowhers teams reminded me of the current Ravens, pretty sound team that was going to be a very physical hard fought game.

Well he did

God that argument is idiotic and short sighted.

Give a man his due.

Then ask Jim Caldwell and Mike Martz why they failed to win it with leagues best record in 2009/2001 with Dungy’s and Vermeil’s “talent.

Drop what happened a decade ago; focus on what happening today.

Mike Tomlin
12 Seasons
8 Playoff Appearances
4 missed playoffs
8-7 playoffs
Since going to Super Bowl 45 (2010):3-6
One and done playoffs: 4 (3 at home)
8 seasons without being in the Super Bowl
We had teams that should've been.
Too many missed opportunities.

Seriously, how many disappointing finishes before the Rooneys realize that he can't do it? ******* clown doesn't have control of the players and adds nothing as an in-game coach.

Just an epic waste of talent.

Just glad Belichick doesn't have this talent: Ben, AB, P Bowl Offensive Line, Juju, etc. Maybe 5 Patriots could even start for the Steelers. It's the mediocrity of Mike Tomlin that has killed this team and franchise -- and it's not going to change with him in charge.

Nobody has done less with more than Mike Tomlin. Enough is enough.

No we all cannot agree.

What ARII should do is make a tough decision this offseason.

What we think means jack ****.

Steelers organization deserves this loss for keeping a complete moron like Tomlin around and getting cheap and not paying the talent that made this team once great.
Feel bad for Ben. Maybe if they paid leveon Boswells money we would have at least 1 or 2 more wins without Boswell alone.
**** Tomlin. **** the Rooneys. They don't put winning first, they put money first and are to proud and stuck in the "Steelers way" bullshit to admit Tomlin is not the guy.

**** the Rooney’s????

Man you have your priorities misplaced.

Most successful team in NFL team since merger despite all the flash in the pans .....

Sorry you’re not happy, go read Dan Rooney’s book and still try to say **** the Rooney’s. You’ve feel like a complete *** once you do.

Not paying for the talent that made this team great.

This 2014-2018 core has never been a great team, but a great bunch of hero ball players.

Not paying—if you refer to Bell, a 2-time failed drug loser with one more facing a year suspension. Make him earn his money year to year instead of being a distraction.

Because he has won one regardless of whose players it was and gotten us to another. Empirical evidence says he can and many many other Coaches have never gotten there. It doesn't mean he will or that another coach wouldn't but he has proven he can.

So did Brian Billick, Mike McCarthy, and Barry Switzer. Where are they now?
