Can the 2018 Steelers win a game where the offense scores under 20 points?

You'd have to assume with 9 games to go the answer is yes, but it hasn't happened so far.


While the offense has scored 28 points or more five times in seven games, ( going 4-1 in games where we score 28 points or more ), the defense and special teams have not been enough to produce a win when the offense produces 20 points or less. This has to change.


I like what I have seen out of the pass rush, and use of the ILB's for situational football lately. The defense can improve. Its time for Heyward to step up and play at the level he's capable of while Edmunds and Burnett become more acclimated with the defense for a playoff run.

Ive been saying it since last year. It is not only the Steelers. You need to score 24-27+ to consistently win in today's NFL. In general, if you can't s ore that many points, you dont deserve to win.

Last week, only 2 of 16 games had the winning team score less than 24. Only 3 teams scored 24+ and lost.

Looking at the teams in week seven, 19 teams scored 24 points or less. More than half.

Looking at the teams in week eight, 13 of them scored 24 points or less.

So you can win by scoring 24 or less, if your defense plays well.

I do however see your point. You just don't see many games these days where the winning team scores 20 points or less and wins by narrow margin.

Haden and Hilton together make the points against closer to 20.
